151. Lord Jesus! When We Think of Thee

C.M.
by J.G. Deck
1
Lord Jesus! when we think of Thee,

Of all Thy love and grace,

Our spirits long and fain would see

Thy beauty face to face.
Ephesians 5:25; 2 Corinthians 8:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10: Isaiah 3:17
2
And though the wilderness we tread,

A barren, thirsty ground,

With thorns and briers overspread,

Where foes and snares abound;
Psalm 63:1; Genesis 3:18
3
Yet in Thy love such depths we see,

Our souls o'erflow with praise—

Content ourselves, while, Lord, to Thee

A joyful song we raise.
Ephesians 3:19; Psalm 63:5
4
Our Lord, our Life, our Rest, our Shield,

Our Rock, our Food, our Light;

Each thought of Thee doth constant yield

Unchanging, fresh delight.
Ephesians 3:11; Colossians 3:4; Matthew 11:28; Psalm 33:20; 1 Corinthians 10:4; John 6:55; Psalm 27:1
5
Blest Saviour, keep our spirits stayed,

Hard following after Thee,

Till we, in robes of white arrayed,

Thy face in glory see.
2 Timothy 4:22; 1 Peter 2:21; Revelation 7:9; Revelation 3:4; Revelation 22:4
