As he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.1 – He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. … If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.2 – Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.3 – Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.4
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.5 – Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes.6
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.7 – The God of peace, … make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ.8

His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor.1 – Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.2 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.3 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.4
O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.5 – Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.6 – Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.7 – He knoweth the way that I take.8 – Man’s goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?9
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.10 – This God is our God forever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.11

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.1 – If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.2 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.3
What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.4 – Being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.5
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.6 – Thou art no more a servant, but a son.7
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. … For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh.8

Fear not; … I am he that liveth.1 – Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am.2
We are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.3 – He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead.4 – Ye are complete in him, which is the head.5
Forasmuch … as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.6
This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.7

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.1 – Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.2 – The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.3 – The voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.4 – Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.5
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction.6 – The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. … Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.7 – The things which are not seen are eternal.8

Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died.1 – It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.2 – I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.3
There is … no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.4
What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? … These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.5
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.6

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.1
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.2 – In the world ye shall have tribulation.3 – Because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.4
I looked for some to take pity, but there was none.5 – At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me.6
The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.7 – Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.8
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.9

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.1
He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. … For when I am weak, then am I strong.2
When [Peter] saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?3 – If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.4 – He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.5 – The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.6 – Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power.7

The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.1 – Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.2 – When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any.3
Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.4 – Let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.5
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.6 – My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins.7

Is not this the carpenter’s son?1 – Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?2 – Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?3 – He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.4 – We know that this man is a sinner.5 – He deceiveth the people.6 – This man blasphemeth.7 – Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.8
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.9 – This is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. … For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.10 – If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye.11
