That “peaceful, easy feeling” comes and goes as often as the sun. For some people it’s more like winter in the Arctic circle where the sun never rises — they’re never at peace. But God didn’t make us for that. Sin, disobedience to Him, wrecks real peace. Our sins have “separated between you and your God” (Isaiah 59:2). There’s only one way to have stable peace: “Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). Once we trust in Jesus to save us from our sins, we soon discover something even better: “The God of peace” (Philippians 4:9) is with us.
