Verse Ref.:
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

“How disappointing! He didn’t keep his promise. When we elected him, we were sure he would change things.”

“That judge! There he is with a man’s life in his hands and he’s taking bribes under the table.”

“Look at that religious leader … preaching to others and his own life is in shambles.”

Time and time again we’ve been let down by those we’ve put our hopes in. Where is the man we can depend on?

A Perfect Man

“Behold the Man” (John 19:5) as He stands before an angry crowd which is calling for His death by crucifixion, His back plowed by the savage whip of a Roman soldier. On His head is a crown of thorns. His face is bruised, His visage marred, yet He stands quietly, dignified. This is Jesus whose name means Saviour. The Bible says, “He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). What has He done to deserve this treatment? His closest follower who referred to himself as one whom Jesus loved said, “In Him is no sin” (1 John 3:5). Pilate, the judge who was trying Him, said, “I find no fault in Him” (John 19:4,6). Paul, once a proud intellectual who persecuted followers of Jesus, said He “knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). The accusing mob could not find anyone to convict Him of wrongdoing.

Listen to His own words: “So must the Son of Man [Jesus] be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:1415).

His Reason for Coming

His crucifixion was no accident. He came to be the Saviour of sinners like you and me.

Again His own words are, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Mark 2:17). That’s us He’s calling! Each one of us needs to come to the Lord Jesus to be saved from the eternal consequences of our sins (hell).

It is written of Him, “Christ died for our sins … was buried, and … rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:34).

Trust Him

Yes, Jesus was put to death, but He has risen from the dead and is now in heaven.

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Won’t you trust Him? This man will never let you down.

“He that believeth on Him shall not be confounded” (1 Peter 2:6).
