The very term employed in this case, swearing of an oath, is more full and formal than the short and familiar word previously and generally used. It would seem that the utmost weight of solemnity is expressed thereby. The only occurrence in the LXX is in {vi 20844-20845}{/vi}, where was decided the lot of the profane prince. In {vi 26980}{/vi} the phrase is composed of the two words here combined.
