Boyd’s Bible Dictionary:

(waste). Perhaps desert or plain (Num. 21:20; 23:28²⁰And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon. (Numbers 21:20)

Plain or desert seen from the tops of Pisgah and Peor (Num. 21:20²⁰And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon. Perhaps the same as that mentioned in 1 Samuel 23:19, 24¹⁹Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? (1 Samuel 23:19)

³And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. (1 Samuel 26:3). It was in the south, on the west of the Dead Sea. Some do not treat Jeshimon as a proper name, but translate it “the waste” in all places.
