From the practice of the people of God, the heathen borrowed a similar one, founded on the same reason.
 It was the beginning of the true harvest-harvest gathered, by power, outside and beyond the natural life of the world….Christ was the beginning, the firstborn from the dead. (Leviticus 23 by J.N. Darby)
