(fleeing). The land to which Cain the murderer fled (Gen. 4:16¹⁶And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. (Genesis 4:16)).

Concise Bible Dictionary:

The land to which Cain went after the murder of Abel, when he went out from the presence of the Lord. It was on the east of Eden, but is not identified (Gen. 4:16¹⁶And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. (Genesis 4:16)). The name signifies “wandering” or “nomad;” the verb is translated “vagabond” in Genesis 4:12,14¹²When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. (Genesis 4:12)
