236. O Gracious Father! God of Love

by Doddridge, 1793
O gracious Father! God of love,
We own Thy power to save,
That power by which the Shepherd rose
Victorious o'er the grave.
Psalm 86:15; 2 Corinthians 13:11; 1 Corinthians 1:21; Hebrews 13:20
Him from the dead Thou brought'st again,
When, by His sacred blood,
Confirmed and sealed forevermore,
Th' eternal cov'nant stood.
Oh may Thy Spirit guide our souls,
And mold them to Thy will,
That from Thy paths we ne'er may stray,
But keep Thy precepts still!
John 16:13; John 14:23
That to the Saviour's stature full
We nearer still may rise,
And all we think, and all we do
Be pleasing in Thine eyes.
Ephesians 4:13; Colossians 3:17
