60. Our Thanks to God Most High

6,6,6,6,8,8.
by I. Watts
1
Our thanks to God most high!

The Father of our Lord,

The Savior-God is He,

And be His name adored!

O God, Thy mercy shall endure,

Thy Word abide forever sure.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” (1 Peter 1:24-25)
2
He sent His only Son

And saved us from our woe —

From Satan, guilt and hell,

And every hurtful foe.

Thy mercy, Lord, shall still endure,

Thy Word abide forever sure.
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.” (Galatians 4:4)
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:15)
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.” (Hebrews 2:14)
3
Give thanks aloud to God,

To God your praises bring,

To God upon His throne

His works and glories sing.

His power and grace are still the same,

Let endless praise exalt His name.
