(light, region). (1) Place where Abraham lived with his father Terah and his wife Sarah, before they started for the land of Canaan (Gen. 11:28,31²⁸And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. (Genesis 11:28)
