Free lunch … free internet … free parking … free hotel nights…
Yes, we all like something for free, and we click on the “accept button” or make the 1-800 call. However, in the end we often find that there are certain restrictions or hidden fees of one sort or another. However, that is not the case with the gospel of Christ. It is free, and no strings attached. “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many” (Romans 5:15).
The Lord said to the woman at Sychar’s well, “If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water” (John 4:10).
All we have to do to receive this free gift is to accept it by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The prison warden in the jail in Philippi asked the question “What must I do to be saved?” He received an immediate answer from Paul and Silas, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30-31). It is so simple, and so free, and yet how many pass it by. I hope you are not one of them.
