He Is Precious
“Unto you therefore which believe He is precious” (1 Peter 2:7).
How precious is the person and work of Christ to you? He means everything to God. We read: “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious … Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded” (1 Peter 2:4, 6). This is God’s estimation of His beloved Son, in spite of what man thinks of Him. We also read of God’s value of the blood of His Son, Scripture calling it “the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:19).
As we consider the preciousness of Christ to the heart of God His Father, it will increase and deepen our value and sense of His worth, and worthiness. This will also produce praise and worship in our hearts, like Mary who took, “an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on His head” (Mark 14:3).
