(dwelling). (1) Tenth son of Jacob, and sixth and last by Leah (Gen. 30:20; 35:2320And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun. (Genesis 30:20)
23The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun: (Genesis 35:23)). Three sons are ascribed to him at the time of the migration to Egypt (Gen. 46:1414And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel. (Genesis 46:14)). The tribe did not expel the natives in its allotment, but associated with them and fell into easy commercial intercourse with Phoenicia on the west (Judg. 1:3030Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries. (Judges 1:30)).
