Genesis 14:22

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, (Genesis 14:22)
. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth.
This was Abram’s method of taking a solemn oath; a mode still practiced in the East, and to some extent in the West. It is said in
Isaiah 62:8

The Lord hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast labored: (Isaiah 62:8)
, “The Lord hath sworn by his right hand.” See also
