“An Elder Sister.” We believe it to be deeply important that our dear children should he early taught to look to God for themselves, and pray to Him in their own little way. God delights to hear the breathings of a child's heart. “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” But, inasmuch as we do not like another to put words in our children's lips when coming to ask us for anything, so neither should we put words in their lips when they kneel at the throne of grace. If the heart of the child is rightly taught, the lips will utter the right thing; otherwise it is only formalism and heartless routine.
