Concise Bible Dictionary:

This is an unhappy expression, bringing in the name of God where it does not occur. In the Old Testament it is chalilah, “far be it” (Gen. 44:7, 177And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing: (Genesis 44:7)
17And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father. (Genesis 44:17)
, etc). In the New Testament μὴ γένοιτο, “let it not be” (Rom. 3:4,6,314God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (Romans 3:4)
