MOTHER has tucked her dear little ones in bed, bid them a fond goodnight, left them in God's keeping, and has set down to do some mending, very glad for a quiet hour.
In her many steps during the day, toiling and working for her dear boys and girls, thinking too, of their needs and comfort, her mind, as well as her body must grow weary. And now, I am sure she appreciates the quietness and rest from the noise of lively little ones.
But her loving hands are still busy thinking of those dear to her heart, getting their clothes mended for school on the morrow.
O, dear children, if you had more thought for your dear mother, how much you could save her ! There are many things that children can do around the home, which would lighten mother's burden, and cheer her heart.
There are many times, dear ones, that you could deny yourselves of little pleasures, and remain at home to help mother; and at night in reviewing the day, would it not give you great pleasure in feeling that in some little way you had been mother's helper?
"Honor thy father and mother" was God's first commandment with promise, and He takes notice of children's ways, and when you accept the Lord Jesus as your dear Saviour, and know God as your Father, you will seek to obey His Word, and please Him in every way. Then you can come to Him, and ask Him for help, and a real desire to help mother, and I am sure you will do it for Jesus' sake.
