A Scripture Alphabet

"G"
Summer is here again, and out in the yards, and fields, and woods, you see many things growing. Day by day they are growing larger.
When they first peeped out of the ground, you may not have known which were weeds, and which would, later on, have beautiful flowers.
Some of them are already blooming, and we are enjoying the many bright pretty colors, and the delightful fragrance. But we don't like the weeds, and we try to get rid of them.
Now, dear children, when you are very young, your parents and others don't know just how you are going to act when you grow older.
When young, the tiny plants seem very much alike, but as they grow older it is easy to see which are weeds, and which are flowers,—which bear bad fruit, and which bear good fruit.
And as you grow older, you show more plainly what you are.
Here are two verses that tell us how the Lord Jesus grew out of babyhood,
"And the child grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon Him." Luke 2:4040And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. (Luke 2:40).
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man " Luke 2:5252And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52).
As Jesus grew year by year, His ways were pleasing to God His father, and to His parents and those about Him. He showed kindness and mercy to all.
Have you learned to love Jesus? Have you accepted Him as your Saviour? If you have, He wants you to "grow in grace," as our verse tells us. That means to be kind to others, even though they may not deserve it, and to show mercy, love, and favor to those about you. By doing so, you may win others to Christ.
God wants you to grow also in the "Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ." If you want to be like your precious Saviour, you must know much about Him and what He is like. You couldn't draw a picture of some house you had heard of, if you didn't know what the house looked like. So you can't take the Lord Jesus for a pattern and try to be like Him, if you don't know anything about Him.
I hope you do know Jesus as your Saviour, and that you will try to learn more about Him and grow more like Him each day.
