"J"
Yesterday I heard a little boy across the street say, "Don't you come in to my house." He was standing just inside the door with his little sister. Outside the door stood Buddie.
Buddie lives almost directly across the street from the other little boy, and the day before, all these children had been playing together and having a good time. But something had gone wrong, and the others didn't want to play with Buddie.
Things like this are happening every day,—sometimes with children, sometimes with grown people.
Children generally forget their quarrels, and become good friends again.
Sometimes grown people who have been good friends for years, get angry at each other and quarrel, and never have anything more to do with each other.
Other times good friends just grow forgetful of each other.
Thus it is with people in this world.
As our little hymn says,
"Earthly friends may fail or leave us,
One day soothe, the next day grieve us."
But not so with our loving Saviour.
As our verse tells us, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We may forget Him, we may do wrong and grieve Him, but His love for us is ever the same. If we are sick or in trouble He is just as near, and watching over us just as carefully, as when we are well and happy. Do not think your blessed Saviour ever forgets you. "Trust in Him at all times." Psa. 62:88Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. (Psalm 62:8).
"We change—He changes not;
Our Christ can never die:
His love, not ours, the resting place,—
We on His love rely."
