“KNOWING that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ." Gal. 2:1616Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. (Galatians 2:16). Dear young reader, if someone should ask you how you can be saved and get to heaven, would you say "by being good" ? That is what many children are told.
But tell me, what do you want to be saved from? Isn't it your sins ? Well then, if you have sins, you haven't been good all the time, have you ? And what good things you do, will not wipe out the bad things. So you will have to find some other way of getting to heaven. You cannot be saved until your sins are all blotted out.
If you write on a blackboard in your schoolroom, then take a cloth and wipe off all the words you have written, you can no longer see them. Neither can your teacher and the other children see them. They are gone.
Now, dear children, there is a way that your sins can be blotted out, so that God will not see them anymore. Do you know what that way is ?
God knew that we all had sinful natures, and that our sins had made us unfit for His presence. But He loved us so us from those sins, so that we could go into His holy presence. He gave His well-beloved Son to die on the cross—to bear the punishment that our sins deserved. And now He says,
So, if we have believed in Jesus, our sins are all wiped out,—away from God's sight. And we are justified, not by the good things we have done, but by the atonement Jesus made for our sins when He bore them on the cross.
Have you this faith in Jesus Christ ? Has His precious blood cleansed you from your sins, and justified you before God? If so, you will spend eternity with Him in glory.
