How much we need the strengthening
Of Faith, of Hope, of Christian Life!
And the Blest Word that strength will bring,
Making victorious in the strife
Against our spiritual foes,
Who, to the end, our course oppose.
Then, Divine Author of the Word!
Grant us The Grace ne’er to neglect
The Truth of this Book from the Lord;
But, studying it, may we expect,
Like manna in the wilderness,
It will our pilgrim journey bless.
