If I did despise the cause of my manservant.  .  . what then shall I do when God riseth up?
The N.I.V. translation puts it this way: “If I have denied justice to my menservants  .  .  .  what will I do when God confronts me?” He continues, “What will I answer when called to account?” Job says in his discourse that God made him and his servants. Each one will have to give an account of his or her life to God. So Job could not be righteous and look down on another of God’s creation. This is good for us to remember too. We are no better than anyone else. It’s only through the grace of God that we have salvation. Let us not despise others.
