All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him [or, failing towards him].
Even in an old book like Proverbs there are verses that may refer to the Lord Jesus Christ. This scripture was certainly true of the Lord. Even the Lord’s brothers despised Him and did not believe in Him to begin with (John 7:55For neither did his brethren believe in him. (John 7:5)). Many of His disciples left Him and went back (John 6:6666From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. (John 6:66)). His closest friend forsook Him as He went up to Calvary (Mark 14:5050And they all forsook him, and fled. (Mark 14:50)). He cried out from the agony of the cross that there was no one there to comfort Him (Psalm 69:2020Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. (Psalm 69:20)). If you have ever felt rejected and alone, remember what the Lord Jesus went through.
