(house of deserts). A town of Moab, allotted to Reuben (Num. 33:49⁴⁹And they pitched by Jordan, from Beth-jesimoth even unto Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab. (Numbers 33:49); Josh. 12:3; 13:20³And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Beth-jeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdoth-pisgah: (Joshua 12:3)
²⁰And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth, (Joshua 13:20)).

Town of Moab, near to one of the stations of the Israelites. It was assigned to Reuben, but was eventually secured by the Moabites (Num. 33:49⁴⁹And they pitched by Jordan, from Beth-jesimoth even unto Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.
