The treachery of a trusted disciple! How callous and uncaring an unsaved person can be. Judas thought more of money than of the Lord and he betrayed Him with a kiss. The psalmist prophesied of this day so many years before, when he wrote (in Psalm 41), “Mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted . . . hath lifted up his heal against Me.” In another place Solomon said, “The kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Jesus was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver.
