(4) Were of constant recurrence. (Heb. 10.)
THE SACRIFICE OF OUR LORD.
1. Fulfilled the will of God.
The purpose of Christ in coming to the earth was to do God's will.
2. Gives us a good conscience.
3. Puts away sin, and brings us to God. "Once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself," (Heb. 9:2626For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (Hebrews 9:26).)
4. Is not repeated.
"Where remission of these" (sins) "is, there is no more offering for sin." (Heb. 10:1818Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. (Hebrews 10:18).)
“I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do." (John 17:44I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. (John 17:4).)
