Brian, the teacher wants you,” That was the message to Brian as he was on his way to the schoolyard. It was no use saying “No,” so he turned back, slowly slowly, his face very red and his heart thumping, to knock at the door of the teacher’s office.
Can you guess why Brian felt so badly? He had been playing in the storeroom among piles of glass windows, where boys were forbidden to go, and he knew that the teacher must, have found it out. Perhaps you know that uncomfortable feeling, and you have felt miserable as Brian did. When, Brian had come into the office, he had to be punished severely enough that he remembered his lesson for a long time afterwards.
How would you feel if the message came to you, “Little boy, God wants you?” It is no use saying “No” to Him. Would you come fearfully, knowing that He must punish you for your sin? Brian’s punishment was soon over, but if God has to punish you for your sins, the punishment will last forever in Hell.
There weren’t any of Brian’s friends who loved him enough to take the punishment for him, but, dear reader there is One who loved you enough to take the punishment for you. It is Jesus, the Son of God. If you will put your trust in Him as the One who suffered for your sins on Calvary, you will know that you are saved. Then too, you will be able to say that you are ready to meet Him without any fear.
“Perfect love casteth out fear.” 1 Join 4;18.
Why not trust Him today?
