I read a story of a dying undergraduate, Gordon by name, who had an affection for the wildest fellow in the university — a man who was sodden with drink and utterly going to ruin. When he was dying Gordon sent for this man. He came where the dying man was, “pale, and limp, and soddened.” The dying man held out his hand and said, “Dear Graham, I am dying! I have a message for you, a direct message. It was given to me last night by the Beautiful Voice. It said quite distinctly, ‘Bring Graham.’ Will you come?” “By God’s help I will!” said Graham. I need not say any more. He came — and Graham and Gordon are together now in God’s own rest forever.
And the voice, the “Beautiful Voice,” has spoken to me: “Help to bring the dear soldiers and sailors to Me. Tell them I and the only Saviour, and ready to save them.” Tell them that “whosoever will may come,” and “him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out,” “Send them My holy word — pray for them night and day.” And they need our help and prayers, as the following letter will show: —
