A menudo como creyentes olvidamos que todo lo que tenemos en realidad no es nuestro, sino que nos ha sido encomendado para que lo administremos sabiamente para nuestro Dios y Padre que es el dueño de todo cuanto podemos observar. Es más, ni siquiera la vida nos pertenece pues hemos sido comprados con la preciosa sangre de Cristo, hemos sido comprados a un precio muy alto (1 Corintios 6:2020For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:20); 1 Pedro 1: 18-19).
En 1 Corintios 4:22Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (1 Corinthians 4:2) leemos: “Ahora bien, se requiere de los administradores, que cada uno sea hallado fiel”. Mi oración al Señor es que pueda ayudarnos a serle fieles en nuestro servicio, sin pretender buscar un reconocimiento de los demás. Es importante que seamos sabios cuando utilicemos nuestros talentos, dones, capacidades y los bienes materiales que hemos recibido del Señor.
En 1 Pedro 4:1010As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10) leemos: “Cada uno según el don que ha recibido, minístrelo a los otros, como buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios”. Es tan solo por la gracia de Dios que hemos sido salvos (Efesios 2:8-98For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8‑9)) y es por Su gracia que hemos sido hecho miembros de la familia de Dios.
Por gracia cuando creímos en el Señor Jesucristo, todos los creyentes también recibimos de manera individual uno o más dones. No importa nuestro grado de educación o posición social, para que recibamos Sus dones; sino que los recibimos para que los utilicemos para la edificación del Cuerpo de Cristo que es Su Iglesia.
No son para que los atesoremos y guardemos de forma egoísta, por el contrario son para que seamos siervos útiles en la obra del Señor. Para que cada quien cumpla una función diferente, pero importante en el Cuerpo.
Nos han sido dados no para que busquemos gloriarnos a nosotros mismos, sino para que los utilicemos para la gloria del Único que es digno de recibirla: nuestro Señor Jesucristo: “para que, como está escrito: El que se gloría, gloríese en el Señor” (1 Corintios 1:3131That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:31)).
En Mateo 10:88Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Matthew 10:8) el Señor les dijo a sus discípulos: “de gracia recibisteis, dad de gracia”. Este es un principio que nos anima a brindar nuestro servicio en forma gratuita. Pablo decía de Timoteo: “pero ya conocéis los méritos de él, que como hijo a padre ha servido conmigo en el evangelio” (Filipenses 2:2222But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. (Philippians 2:22)) y no tenía la actitud que es muy común: “todos buscan lo suyo propio, no lo que es de Cristo Jesús” (Filipenses 2:2121For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. (Philippians 2:21)).
Al buscar ser útiles para nuestro Señor no debe ser el dinero el motor que nos mueva a realizar la labor encomendada; sino más bien como fruto de nuestro sincero agradecimiento por Su tan grande amor. En el mundo materialista en que vivimos se enseña que uno debe buscar su propio beneficio; pero al mirar a nuestro Señor debemos reconocer que Él no buscó su propio beneficio sino que “por amor a vosotros se hizo pobre, siendo rico, para que vosotros con su pobreza fueseis enriquecidos” (2 Corintios 8:99For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)) y leemos también que Él “se ofreció a Sí mismo” (Hebreos 9:1414How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)). Fue el mismo Señor quien dijo: “más bienaventurado es dar que recibir” (Hechos 20:3535I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)).
Sin lugar a dudas entre tanto que estemos en este mundo siempre vamos a encontrar personas que tengan más o menos bienes materiales que nosotros. La Palabra de Dios dice que “del Señor es la tierra y su plenitud” (1 Corintios 10:2626For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. (1 Corinthians 10:26)). Tenemos un Padre que es dueño de todo cuanto podemos observar y completamente sabio como para saber cuánto debe administrar cada hijo suyo. El dinero en sí no es malo, pues la Escritura dice de manera clara: “raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero” (1 Timoteo 6:1010For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)). También dice: “Pero gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento; porque nada hemos traído a este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar. Así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos contentos con esto. Porque los que quieren enriquecerse caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias necias y dañosas, que hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición” (1 Timoteo 6:6-96But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (1 Timothy 6:6‑9)).
Pablo dice: “Nos fatigamos trabajando con nuestras propias manos” (1 Corintios 4:1212And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: (1 Corinthians 4:12)) y también: “Porque os acordáis, hermanos, de nuestro trabajo y fatiga; cómo trabajando de noche y de día, para no ser gravosos a ninguno de vosotros, os predicamos el evangelio de Dios” (1 Tesalonicenses 2:99For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. (1 Thessalonians 2:9)).
Tenemos la responsabilidad de trabajar para proveer para las necesidades materiales de quienes nos acompañan y de nuestra familia si el Señor nos lo ha concedido.
En cuanto a la ofrenda para las necesidades de los santos en el Nuevo Testamento no hay una exigencia de dar el diezmo como tenían que realizarlo en el Antiguo Testamento, pues en aquella dispensación había la tribu de Leví que estaba encargada de ministrar y servir en las cosas de Dios, habían sacerdotes, un sumo sacerdote... pero actualmente estamos en la dispensación de la gracia y se nos dice que todos hemos sido hechos sacerdotes por el Señor Jesucristo (1 Pedro 2:99But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1 Peter 2:9); Apocalipsis 1:5-65And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5‑6)).
El principio que se nos da es: “Cada uno dé como propuso en su corazón: no con tristeza, ni por necesidad, porque Dios ama al dador alegre. Y poderoso es Dios para hacer que abunde en vosotros toda gracia, a fin de que, teniendo siempre en todas las cosas todo lo suficiente, abundéis para toda buena obra” (2 Corintios 9:7-87Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Corinthians 9:7‑8)). No olvides que “el que siembra escasamente, también segará escasamente; y el que siembra generosamente, generosamente también segará”. Cuán importante es que seamos sensibles a las necesidades de los hermanos y que no pongamos excusas cuando veamos la necesidad y tengamos la oportunidad de compartir con ellos los bienes materiales que el Señor nos ha encomendado que administremos.
Un ejemplo de generosidad que hallamos en el Nuevo Testamento es el de los hermanos de Macedonia, pues dice que: “con agrado han dado conforme a sus fuerzas, y aun más allá de sus fuerzas”, aun a pesar de “su profunda pobreza abundaron en riquezas de su generosidad”. Es importante notar que “a sí mismos se dieron primeramente al Señor” y pidieron “con muchos ruegos que les concediésemos el privilegio de participar en este servicio para los santos” (2 Corintios 8:1-51Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; 2How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; 4Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. (2 Corinthians 8:1‑5)). Un ejemplo de generosidad individual lo hallamos en 3 Juan 1:5-85Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; 6Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: 7Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. 8We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. (3 John 5‑8).
Que el Señor pueda ayudarnos a ser fieles en la administración de los bienes que nos ha confiado.
