He was buried  .  .  .  according to the Scriptures.
Men judged the Lord Jesus to be a criminal, and so would have buried Him in a criminal’s grave. But God would not allow that. A rich friend of the Lord, Joseph of Arimathea, buried the Lord in his own tomb, a place where no one else had been buried. Isaiah puts it this way: “Men appointed His grave with the wicked, but He was with the rich in His death.” And so we see the loving care with which two secret disciples took the dead Christ and wrapped Him up and laid Him in a new tomb. Man could not touch Him after His death. He was buried according to the Scriptures.
