Except in Song of Sol. 3:99King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. (Song of Solomon 3:9), where the word is appiryon and signifies “sedan, portable couch,” the chariots were vehicles with two wheels, used either for traveling or for war: they are often seen portrayed on Egyptian and Assyrian monuments (Gen. 41:4343And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. When the king of Syria sought to take Elisha at Dothan he was protected by invisible chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:1717And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.
