#19 in the appendix.
First two and the last two standards.
And safe and such confiding for nothing changes here.
Storm may roar without me.
My heart may lower the rain that God is round about Navy and can I be displaced?
19 in the appendix, the first two and the last two standards.
Certain woman of the wives of.
My servant, my husband is dead.
And thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord.
And the creditor has come to take unto him my two sons to be bondsman.
Elijah said unto her.
What shall I do for thee?
Tell me what happens now in the house.
And she said.
Thine hadn't made hath not anything in the House.
Save a pot of oil.
Then he said go.
Borrow thee vessels abroad.
Of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels.
Borrowed out a few.
And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons.
And shall pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
So she went from him.
Shut the door upon her, and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her, and she poured out.
And it came to pass when the vessels were pulled.
That she said unto her Son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more.
The Oil state.
Then she came and told the man of God, and he said.
Go sell the oil.
And pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children.
Of the rest.
We'll stop here for.
Pause.
It was not my thought to preach the gospel.
But one could well do so from this portion of the Word of God.
Here's a woman in dire straits.
She's lost her husband.
She has two sons.
But she owes money. She has not one thing to pay.
On the debt.
And the creditors at the door to take the two sons away from her.
To satisfy the debt.
Terrible predicament for a poor mother to be in.
Left alone in the world.
Left alone with debt.
Left alone, without any means of paying the debt.
So she turns to the man of God.
A good place to turn.
You know, there are a lot of people in the world today.
That have never felt their need.
It was need that sent this woman to the man of God.
I remember years ago seeing a young man come to the Gospel Meetings in Los Angeles week after week.
00:05:01
He was a very moral and upright young man.
And I spoke to a brother who knew him better than I.
I said do you think he is safe? He says no he is not safe.
And he said, I will tell you why he is not saved.
He was never lost.
That is, he never felt his lost condition before God.
It's a wonderful thing for a man who has lost to know it.
For a man who was lost to feel it.
And to turn to God about it.
This woman had nothing to pay. Reminds us. You know of the.
A man that had two debtors.
The one owed a large amount, the other owed a small amount.
But they had nothing to pay.
As far as satisfying the debt was concerned the one who only owed a small amount.
Was just as bad off as the one who owed a large amount.
He had nothing to pay.
And if man stands before a holy God?
And has any sins on him.
He has nothing to pay.
There is no possibility.
Of his Satisfying the claims of a holy God by anything that he can do.
And you know God is holy.
And God is not going to Passover man's sin.
He is not going to Passover his sins in order to be gracious.
God is love.
And in his love he gave the dearest object of his heart to come into this world, to seek and to say that which was lost.
It wasn't enough to seek that which was lost.
He died to save it.
I wonder if there should be some children here or any others this afternoon.
And cannot say I'm saved.
Thank God. I know Christ is my savior.
Well, if you can't say that.
You're lost.
And man hates that word lost.
I knew of one place.
A sort of a non sectarian organization.
That was willing to let gospel preachers come in and preach the gospel there.
Was a public institution.
But they had one qualification.
That qualification was simply this.
You cannot use the word lost.
Man is willing to admit that he's done a few bad things.
Is willing to admit that he's thin.
But to say that he's helpless, that he has nothing to pay?
And cast himself back unreservedly upon Divine Mercy on the basis of the death of Christ.
Is unwilling.
That makes nothing of man.
And if you're trying, if there should be 1 here this afternoon, that's trying to satisfy the claims of God by any effort of your own, it's doomed to failure.
You can't do it.
Well, this debt had to be paid.
Wasn't a case of wanting to, but it had to be paid or the sons go into *******.
Well, the man of God uses the only resource at hand. This woman had a little oil.
He sends her out to borrow empty vessels.
How God likes to fill empty vessels.
No need to trying to fill full ones.
And how many a man and woman in this world you couldn't fill them so because they're so filled with themselves?
God likes to fill empty vessels. Borrow, not a few.
Well, she does is she's told she comes home and shuts the door.
00:10:00
This must be a transaction in which the world is excluded.
I would strongly advise if you're not saved.
That you get along with God.
You ever gotten into his presence alone?
Poured out your soul and owned to him that you are lost.
Only him that you have nothing to pay.
Shall accept Christ as your Savior. She shut the door.
She poured out.
To poured out until every vessel, every empty vessel was filled.
They couldn't hold anymore.
If you find Christ as your savior, you're going to find your empty vessels filled.
You're going to find that you have Christ be able to say what the poet what what I'm more.
Years. Enough the mind and heart to fill.
Well then, what came next? She told a man of God, of all the plenty she had.
I can imagine that house.
With vessels of oil all over.
Not one, empty one.
Not one. Partly empty one.
Enough to fill all, but none to waste.
He told her. Go sell the oil and pay thy death.
Oh, what good news for a distraught mother?
A distraught mother who had nothing to pay and was in danger of losing her son's.
Pay thy debt.
She could then pay the debt and meet the creditor face to face and not be ashamed.
You know, if I owed a man a large sum of money and he sent me word that he was just forgiving it.
I'd still feel pretty guilty.
I'd still feel that I owed him something.
And if I were walking down the street and I happened to chant, seeing him coming my way, I'd be very much inclined to turn down a side street.
To avoid meeting him.
But this poor woman didn't have to avoid the creditor. The debt was paid.
Oh God, send his beloved Son into this world and allowed man to do the most wicked act of his career.
Nail his beloved son to a cross of wood.
But when man had done his very worst, God did his best.
And He made that blessed one to be a sacrifice and an offering to sin, so that he can proclaim a full free pardon.
On the basis of the satisfaction that he had received.
We no longer have to fear God.
We know that everything is settled to his glory.
Well, that was the case with this woman and her creditor. She didn't have to hide from him or fear to meet him. It was all set.
But let me ask you this.
What's a poor widow?
Without any means of sustenance, without any means of getting more money to do if she paid her debt.
What would we do as 4 guilty sinners before God? Have we paid the debt? We can't pay it. You know we couldn't attend to God for a single sin.
But suppose we could.
Up to a certain point.
What would we do next while we'd soon be indecisive?
This poor woman would have enough to pay the debt. Nothing to live on.
You think God has left us like that in this world with nothing to live on?
No, pay the debt, and live thou and thy children with the wrench.
God has supplied us with a fun that will carry us on to the glory.
It's ours not only to know the depth, Council.
Counsel to God's eternal glory.
But we have a fund of riches of will satisfy us and carry us right on through to the end.
00:15:05
Brethren, are we living on the rest? I mean in the sense of enjoying it.
Live thou and thy children of a breath. It's ours.
Sometimes I think we poorly enjoy what's ours.
Shouldn't be so?
Well, the next woman in this chapter, we have another woman now.
Woman a great woman in the town of Schooner.
Kim is a God fearing woman.
She had a good home, I presume.
Prophet, the man of God would pass by there.
And she built a place on the wall for him to stop.
She was interested in the Lord's servant.
So she But there was one thing lacking to fill up her joy. She had no son.
She had no air.
Child.
The man of God wants to recompense her for his kind for her kindness.
He says what can be done for her.
Well, he hits upon one idea.
Remember, this is all given to us by the Spirit of God.
She was to receive a son as a special token of Divine Mercy.
And she gets the sun in that special way.
Go down in the chapter.
15 Verse And he said, Call her, said to his servant, call her. When he called her, she stood in the door. And he said, about this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace the sun. And she said, Nay, my Lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
The woman conceived and buried her son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
I think this woman's joy was more full than the woman who saw her death pay.
But now the test was to come. She was to lose this son.
He died.
What a tragedy, we might say.
A woman that had longed for his son of her own.
A woman who after many years had the gratification of embracing a child, a son.
And then delusion.
But what did she do?
She did what the previous woman did. She betook herself to the man of God.
It was a deep need in the previous case.
Here's a woman in debt about to lose her sons to the creditor.
But here's a woman who is lost, who has lost her son.
His death.
The cruel hand of death has reached out and grasped him. Now where?
Man of God, she goes. Notice a little there.
24th verse And she then she saddled and asked, and said to her servant Dr. and go forward. Slack not thy writing for me, except I bid thee.
Her husband had inquired about her going to see the man of God.
And her only answer was it is well.
All the calmness of faith that can say it as well.
We have a hymn, you know, that speaks of the Christian in various conditions and then it says tis with believers well.
Tis well when they prosper, tis well when they suffer, it is with believers. Well, that's the calmness of faith, can take everything from God's hand.
But the energy of faith says drive and go forward.
Slack not thy writing for me except I busy.
It goes to the man of God.
00:20:03
We won't carry on this, but we go down to the end, to the end of this scene.
And here she gets her son back.
To get them back who was dead.
Brethren, suppose we knew all our sins forgiven.
Knew that there was a satisfaction rendered to God about our sins that enabled us to enable Him to forgive us all our sins.
But we didn't have a life to enjoy his presence. Where would we be?
Life is necessary as well as forgiveness.
And this woman had to see that life came from God too.
She got this child a child of promise, but now she gets him back from the dead as a gift.
And so scriptures, scripture so speaks for us. You remember what it says in the 15th of Luke about the prodigal?
He was lost and has found he was dead and is alive again.
Oh, what a wonderful thing, dear Christian, it is to have a life from God.
Eternal life.
That life that enables us to enjoy God and the things of God.
You think the unbeliever enjoys the things of God?
Do you think the unbeliever would be happy if he could get into heaven, into God's presence?
No, no. He'd want to get out faster than he got in.
But we not only have our sins forgiven in peace with God, but we have eternal life, a life of the nature capable of enjoying God in the things of God now.
And throughout eternity.
What I've proved if you love.
But now I want to go to the 8th chapter.
Oh, if there is an unsaved one here this afternoon.
I realize that this isn't the Gospel Meeting.
I also realize that some of you are having to leave this afternoon.
Not be here for the Gospel Meeting tonight.
If there's one here that's going away this afternoon and it doesn't have peace with God.
Doesn't know his sins forgiven. Doesn't have eternal life.
I urge you to go to God. Get alone with him.
And find Christ as your Savior.
And all these blessings will be yours, but now the 8th chapter.
Then spake Elijah unto the woman whose son he had restored the light, saying.
Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourned, wheresoever thou canst soldier.
For the Lord has called for a famine, and shall also come upon the land seven years.
And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God.
And she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
It came to pass at the seven years end that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistine.
And she went forth to cry under the king for her house and for her land.
And the king talked with the Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying.
Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
And it came to pass as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to light.
That the whole the woman whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land.
And Gehazi said, My Lord, O king, this is the woman.
And this is your son.
Whom Elisha restored to life?
When the king asked the woman, she told him so. The king appointed unto her a certain officers, saying, Restore unto her all that was heard.
And all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land.
Even until now.
00:25:00
This is a different picture.
The same woman.
Strange instruction she received from the man of God, isn't it?
She was told to go and leave the land of Israel.
She was told to go and sojourn wherever she could, for there would be a famine for seven years.
You remember that Abraham left the Promised Land and went down into Egypt because because of a famine and got into trouble there. Here's a woman that got directions to leave the land because there was a famine coming.
Now I submit.
That here we have this woman.
Presenting to us a picture of Israel.
Everything in this incident turns upon the woman whose son had been restored to life.
She goes out of the land.
She comes back to the land.
Now we understand today that people are trying to prove by scripture that God is through with Israel.
That is not so.
Dear young people this afternoon.
You who have been brought up in the truth.
What we know of the Word of God and the Lord's coming for the Church.
Is taking his people home to heaven.
For which we look momentarily.
And is coming back later with His Saints. To execute judgment and to reign, and to have an earthly bride have Israel restored in that land is what we call dispensational truth.
God deals in different ways and at different times.
Brother, our brother, Mr. HE, Hayhoe and I were speaking in the hallway this morning.
He made this comment and I feel I'm free to quote him.
He said if people do not understand that God has a purpose concerning the earth and an earthly people.
And also a people for heaven and a heavenly people. They will never understand the Bible.
If you do not understand what is referred to as dispensational truth, the whole Bible will be a jumble to you.
Now for the early part of this century.
Perhaps the 1St 40 years of this century.
Maybe up to almost 50 years of this century.
What was known as dispensationalism was generally accepted in what was called fundamentalist circles.
The last few years there has been and there continues A concerted drive.
To do away with dispensational truth.
I have recently reviewed 2 books.
In which prominent clergymen?
Or opposing the truth of dispensationalism.
Why is it that the Christians today are rejecting dispensationalism?
The last book I reviewed that was sent to me by a brother who was present here this afternoon.
Is a wicked thing in my judgment.
It lays all sorts of blame on certain individuals whom God and his grace was used to restore the truth of the Lord's coming.
The heavenly calling of the Church.
Their heavenly destiny.
Their heavenly thoughts and purposes now.
Why is it that man is trying to get away from it? I'm speaking now, a professed Christian.
00:30:00
The reason is simply this.
Christians today want to go back to what is known as a social God.
They want a gospel that will improve the world.
That will be relevant to the atomic age.
That will guide the world through the perplexities of today.
And they feel that Christianity should do that.
Now if you'll go back to the word of God, you will find that the Lord Jesus did not teach a social gospel.
The Apostle Paul did not teach a social gospel.
He talked that the church was united to Christ in heaven.
The Christians calling the names were heavenly.
Its destiny was in heaven.
That the Lord might come at any moment to take the Church home.
Do you believe that, brethren?
Let me say this. The devil is trying to take it away from you.
I also reviewed a book recently put out by a noted Jewish rabbi in New York City.
A man of no mean stature.
And he made this statement.
Christianity never found a social gospel in the New Testament.
He said Christianity must needs go back to Judaism in the Old Testament to find a social gospel.
Verily, that rabbi knows more than many Christian preachers.
The Lord's coming to take the church home. One of the worst things they can throw at us today for believing it is that we stick our heads in the sand.
That we're looking for any sort of a storm cellar rather than face the issues of the day.
Rather than you and I do not have to face the issues of the day any more than this, that we have to see to it how we walk in the midst of.
We need to walk to God's glory, looking forward to the Lord's taking us out of this thing.
We are not here to set the world right.
And let me say this, There isn't any man on earth that can do it.
This world is going to be set right as by judgment.
And not by preaching.
What is 2000 years of preaching done?
It brought the world to a vortex.
We're just ready to plunge in.
Everything belongs. All that man is built up be gone.
Now this woman here is a type of Israel.
And let us never forget that while Our Calling is heavenly, God is not true with Israel.
Now let me say this.
I have no sympathy.
With Christians today who were trying to send the Jews back to Palestine.
That's not what I'm talking about.
The Jews that are going back to Palestine are going back to the hottest place on earth for a Jew.
They're going back there for what God calls the time of Jacob's trouble.
But we're waiting for Christ to take us out of it, and thank God he's going to take us out of it before that, before the time of trouble comes.
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee out of the hour of temptation.
Not merely out of the trial that's coming, but out of the very time of it.
Thank God for that. I'm not saying that we may not see some trouble.
Individually or collected.
And this great ecumenical movement that's on foot.
Would stifle us.
Would stop what we have if they could.
00:35:01
By the grace of God, I believe it will be preserved.
But nevertheless.
Remember this. We have to be diligent.
Earnestly contend for these things because someone's trying to take them away from us.
Now I want to turn to a verse in Isaiah.
Chapter 9.
To show.
About this woman.
Isaiah Chapter 9 and verse 6.
Now here we find Israel.
For unto us a child is born.
Unto us the Son is given.
The government shall be upon his shoulder.
There's a man that's going to straighten out this world. The government shall be upon his shoulder.
And his name shall be called wonderful.
Counselor the Mighty God.
The Everlasting Father or the Father of Eternity?
The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace, there shall be no end upon the throne of David, and upon his Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this.
No question about.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform.
Here is that blessed one that came into this world. He came as an Israelite. He came as that son given to Israel.
But when he came to them, they said this is the air, let's kill him.
They said away with him, crucify him. We don't want him.
He went to the cross and died and became our safe. I'm speaking now of each one of us who have accepted him as our safety. Is he yours?
And the very work that he accomplished on Calvary's cross in those three hours of darkness is the foundation on which all blessing will come to Israel in a future day.
It's a foundation of all blessing that will come to this earth in the Millennium.
And further in the eternal state, behold a Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. There it's not sins, it's sin.
He laid the foundation at the cross, and in the end he will utterly remove every trace of sin from God's creation.
I want to turn now to Revelation 12.
We find this woman again.
Those of us who know and rejoice in dispensational truth.
Are not straining at the word of God. We're not picking up a piece here and a piece there and trying to patch out something that we can see.
It's in the Word of God, it's in the warp and Wolf of it, and it runs from Genesis to Revelation.
12Th chapter of Revelation.
There appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of 12 stars. You want to know who this woman is?
Read Joseph's dreams.
About his father and mother and 12 brothers, the sun, the moon or 11 brothers, 11 stars.
She being with child cried, travelling in birth and pain to be delivered.
And there appeared another wonder in heaven. Behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and 10 horns and seven crowns upon his head.
And his tail drew a third part, the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the ground. And the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered for to devour her son, her child, as soon as it was born.
00:40:00
Now if you go back to Matthew's Gospel and you will find there the account.
Of how Herod sought to destroy that child, Jesus.
And how he destroyed all the children and all the coasts of Bethlehem from 2 years old and under.
In order to get rid of that one that God sent into this world.
Herod did it in Matthew. Satan is the instrument behind it in Revelation 12.
So Revelation 12 is a commentary on Matthew.
And she brought forth a man child, and I understand it should read a mail of might.
Who was cruel? All nations with a rod of iron.
You know who that is.
The second Psalm leaves no doubt about it.
He's going to rule all nations with a rod of iron.
Does that mean he's going to rule over us?
No. In the Book of Revelation earlier, we find that the overcomer in the church period is to be with him when he doesn't.
No question about it. We'll be with him.
When he exercises his power.
5th verse, Revelation 12 And she brought forth a man, child, who was to rule all nations.
With a rod of iron, and her child was caught up to God and to his throne.
The 12Th chapter of Revelation goes back before the death before the birth of Christ.
And it passes over entirely his death.
It merely tells of his birth and his ascension. That's what's important here, to connect him with Israel.
For in the 12Th chapter, in fact, beginning with the last verse of the 11Th chapter, we have Israel primarily before us.
Now this woman is Israel.
And Christ came with the seed of Abraham according to the promises.
Is going to rule all nations with a rod of iron is going to have the government of this world upon his shoulder, thank God. When it came to saving 1 poor Sinner, it says that he took the poor sheep on both shoulders.
Greater work in redemption than governing the world.
Well, this is coming.
Israel is going to be blessed. But then to go on in Revelation 12, I shouldn't have closed my book there.
The sixth verse is something different.
After the Lord Jesus was taken to heaven.
All this period of the grace of God has intervened.
Almost 2000 years have passed away while God is gathering out from the Gentiles of people for heaven.
Brethren, when we talk about our heavenly destiny, we're not looking for a storm cellar. We're looking for heaven. We're looking to go to be with Christ, and he may come today. The very turbulence in the world today is evidence that His coming must be near, and the infidelity is abounding, and even the giving up of dispensationalism by what was considered stalwart fundamentalist.
Is a sign that we're at the end. The Lord's coming is near.
Maybe today what up for us? But let's not forget that God has a purpose concerning the earth.
And Israel will be the center of that purpose. Well, then, what else?
The woman fled into the wilderness. This is future. This is future. After we're gone, the woman is going to flee into the wilderness.
Where she has a place prepared of God that they shall feed her there 1203 score days.
That is 3 1/2 years.
And the woman there is not the whole nation of Israel.
But the godly part of it?
The major part of it is going to accept the Antichrist. They're going to accept a Jew in Palestine that will claim to be the Messiah, but he's going to be the false shepherd of Zechariah 11. He's going to be the hiring of John 10.
00:45:10
And he's going to persecute the godly Jew. After the Lord takes the church home, he's the spirit of God is going to begin a work instantly. I believe in the hearts of godly Jews.
He's going to work in them to expect the Messiah to come, and they're going to go all over telling that the the Lord is the Messiah is coming the gospel of the Kingdom, not the gospel of the grace of God. The gospel of the Kingdom is to be preached in all the world in those days.
The Christmas gets it all mixed up from the gospel of the Kingdom and the gospel of the grace of God are all one and the same. But they're not.
The gospel of the grace of God is the gospel of the glory of Christ is being preached now. The gospel of the grace of God is Christ. Come down.
The gospel of the glory of Christ is Christ gone up.
But the gospel of the Kingdom is what John the Baptist first preached. Repent for the Kingdom of heaven as it had, and that will be resumed.
Now.
Let's go to Matthew 24.
And remember, brethren, I have not a cow path through the scripture.
Mr. Brown often tells us about these cults. You know that they have cowpaths.
And if you'll let them lead you, they'll lead you one place and another. But all verses not connected. But what I'm connecting here today are connected by God himself.
Matthew 24.
14 verse I'm just speaking about it.
14 verse.
And this gospel of the Kingdom.
Shall be preached in all the world for a witness.
Unto all nations.
I don't know how they're going to get into Russia, but they're going to preach it in all nations.
For a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end God.
When ye therefore now he's speaking to the Jewish remnant, and this word will be recognized by the Jewish faithful remnant in that day as Christ's word to them.
When he therefore see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet.
Now let me stop right here.
You call your attention to the fact, and if you have a pencil handy, make a note of it that this is in the 12Th chapter of death.
Not any other chapter of death. This is the abomination that maketh desolate of the last chapter of death.
When you see the abomination of desolation or the idol, for which there will be desolation.
It'll be that idol to the beast, the head of the revived Roman Empire set up in the temple.
Stand in the holy place of the temple. Whoso readeth, let him understand. Then let them which be in Judea flee to the mountains. This is a word to the godly Jew of that day. Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house, neither let him which is in the field turn back to take his clothes, And woe be to woe unto them that are with child to them that give sucking those days. But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day.
For then shall be great tribulation.
Such as was not, since the beginning of the world, to this time known, or ever shall be.
Nothing like it before.
Nothing like it afterwards.
Not only man turn loose, but the devil turned loose and the world turned upside down.
What else does he say?
And accept those days.
Should be shortened or should have been shortened. There are a lot of now as time is 12 twelve, 160 days or 3 1/2 years.
Except it had been cut down to such a short period of time, No flesh should be saved.
Rather, an awful time awaits his world. And if there's an unsaved one here this afternoon, don't you take a chance on being in it?
00:50:00
The Lord comes from today.
Judgments will follow.
Of course, these are the last 3 1/2 years of which we're reading of the seven years that will follow.
Preparing the way for Christ to come and execute judgment personally.
And he'll dash them in pieces like a putters vessel.
Well.
The 12Th of Daniel. In the last chapter of Daniel we read.
All this very time and this very idol set up in the temple.
There it's connected with 12190 days instead of 12160 days here.
Probably just a little difference one month later to a little farther point in development.
Because things will happen rapidly, then Daniel also speaks of 13135. I think is the other.
Period of time.
Now go back in, at least in memory.
To 2nd Kings 4 This woman has gone off. There was to be a famine in the land.
Seven years now, this isn't the seven years.
Of the tribulation. I do not believe this is not the last 3 1/2 years, the 12160 days of the tribulation.
But I believe 7 is used.
In Second Kings 4 as a term designating the whole period of time that Israel is out of their land.
They've been out of their land for many, many years, just gone back in unbelief now some of them.
Going back for the worst time that they ever had.
For the Zechariah tells us that one third 2/3 of all in the land are going to be cut off and died.
Only one third will be brought through it.
Well then, after this seven years of exile, this woman returns to cry unto the king for her land and her for a house. You think Israel is going to get it? Sure, they're going to get it.
What did the king do? He appointed an officer to restore unto her her land.
And all the fruits of the land from the day that you left it.
You know that Israel is going to get a great accumulation when the Christ brings them back in glory. They're going to have not only the land back, but they're going to have the proceeds of all the land produced from the time they left.
Think of it.
They're going to be God's favorite people again on earth.
He's going to write his flaws in their hearts and on their minds. He's going to give them a new heart. He's going to change them. There'll be a different people.
But he's going to bless them and they're going to get the whole thing back.
This reminds me in all of Israel when they left Egypt.
They borrowed of their neighbors, the Egyptians, silver and gold and everything, all the valuable things, and they gave them to him.
They asked for them. Is there a correct word there? Not merely borrowed. They asked for them, and they gave them to them. And when they went out of Egypt, they spoiled the Egyptians. They took their silver and gold with them.
You know, I sometimes wonder.
With all the sons of Israel that are in this land in the United States.
If the government hasn't put it all together, Fort Knoxville to get.
We know they're going back and they're going to take their silver and gold with them.
I don't know all that's coming, but I do know that Israel is going to be blessed and they're going to be the center of Christ's reign on earth from which he will bless the world.
Or what will our portion be with bread? Now let me call your attention to one thing more.
If you go to the book of Ruth.
You'll find another Sam.
In the book of Ruth we find the limelight and his name means God is king.
And his wife Naomi.
Which means pleasantness.
Leaving the land of Israel and their two sons and going away. Going into the land of Moore.
And the husband dies, The son died, the sons die.
For the army is left there.
00:55:01
Alone.
Well, she's a type of Israel. She's a type of Israel that's lost the sense of God being their king. Her husband's dead and his name meant that God is king. She has lost the sense that God is king.
She's out of her land.
All but when she comes back, who comes back with her? Ruth, the more abidess.
Now many take root, you know, to be a type of the Church, but if we want to be very correct about it, I believe Ruth is a type of Israel coming back.
Oh, she comes back on the ground of pure mercy.
The Gentiles have come in on the ground of mercy, and if we would turn to Romans 11, we find when he speaks of Israel that he might have mercy upon all.
They're going to come back on the same ground of mercy that you and I are coming on mercy.
Not because Abraham was their father.
No, they're going to come back in blessing in that day, and I believe that, Ruth.
Naomi and Ruth together form a type of Israel.
Cast off, forgotten that God was their king out of their land. When does she come back? She comes back at the beginning of barley harvest. She finds that God has visited his people. He's blessed His people, she hears, and he's good to them now. And she goes back, right in the abundance of plenty.
All how many scriptures there are that deal with this of God's purpose concerning an earthly people? We know our portion is heavenly, we rejoice it, but let's not appropriate to us what belongs to another matter.
Now much there is, you know, in the word of God.
Where you'll find in the Old Testament where it says that the heading of the page.
Israel's blessing? No, the Church's blessings and Israel's curses actuating all the blessings of the Old Testament that refer to Israel in a future day are appropriated or stolen now by the Christians, and Israel and the Church are all mixed up into one jumble. No wonder they don't understand the word of God.
One more scripture turn to the last chapter of Isaiah.
Isaiah 66.
Verse 5.
Hear the word of the Lord Jesus tremble at his work. This is a word to the Jewish remnant, the God fearing remnant of the future day.
Your brethren that hated you.
That cast out.
For my I cast you out for my name's sake, and said, Let the Lord be glorified, but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
And the mass of the Jews with the Antichrist as their leader are going to be raped.
The godly remnant of the Jew. But he's going to appear for the blessing of that remnant, and it's going to be evident.
Six verse voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the Lord that rendered recompense to his enemies.
Before she travels.
She brought forth.
Before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.
What did revelation tell us about the man child, The woman bringing forth a man child?
The devil seeking to devour that child as soon as it was born, but he was caught up to God and his throne out of the reach of man. The devil.
She brought forth this man child before the tribulation period.
But now notice, Who hath heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made forth, made to bring forth in one day, Or shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion traveled, she brought forth her children.
There are two things in these verses.
She brings forth a man child before the tribulation before she was in trouble.
01:00:04
Before Israel got into trouble.
She brought forth the man shot.
But now after she goes through the time of tribulation.
As soon as she goes through it.
Her children are all coming back.
For as soon as Zion traveled, she brought forth herself. Oh, there's a different thing here, between bringing forth a man child and bringing forth her children.
I was thankful when I recently noticed that, but I it's my judgment.
That that is the connection.
Rather than let's not only be satisfied with our salvation, knowing our sins are forgiven.
Let us live on the rest. Enjoy it fully.
Rejoice too, in that life that gives us the capability of enjoying the things of God now and to eternity.
And let us look forward to the Lord's coming to take us out of the world.
Oh, our hope is not a storm cellar, brother.
No, it's not a seller we're looking for. It's heaven. The Father's house, That's where we're going, he has said. I will come again and receive you unto myself.
All how Christians try to pervert that.
Some of them, you know, I went to see a woman that was in the hospital.
And I started to read John 14 to her and she says I'm not going to die. I said I wasn't reading about death, I was reading about the Lord's coming.
Make me think of what Doctor Wolfson said in one of these books, he says. Isn't that a curious thing? They try to make out the death when the death is coming for why? He says I will go away and come back for you, he said. I didn't know that death went away.
Oh, it's Christ himself. He's gone away and he's coming back to take his home.
We awake that month, but oh what a time awaits this world as soon as we're gone.
And the day as I see fundamentalism.
Departing from the truth of the Lord's coming.
I shudder.
Brethren, we're all more or less influenced by the currents in the world, but let us never waver for a moment.
That our hope is heaven. And we're not here to straighten the world out. We're here to live for Christ and wait for him to take us out of it. That may be today. Oh, that's powerful.
May the Lord encourage us to go off the little while it remains, looking for himself, but never giving up the truth that God has a place for Israel.
And God has a place for the nations, too.
Oh, they're going to be blessed in a different way.

We didn't get very far along this morning, did we?
But the 11Th verse wasn't it?
11 first.
Second chapter of Ephesians verse 11.
4/4 Remembered that ye be in time past. Gentiles in the flesh were called on circumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hand.
Through that time.
Life being early into the Commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenant of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus.
Ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
For he is our peace who have made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us.
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandment contained in ordinances.
For to make in himself of Twain 1 Newman.
Soul making peace, and that he might reconcile both under God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
For through him we both have access by 1 Spirit unto the Father.
Now therefore, you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the Saints and of the household of God, and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
In whom all the buildings fitly framed together growing unto a holy temple in the Lord, in whom he also are builded together.
For inhabitation of God through the spirit.
11Th and 12Th verses taken together.
Would answer the heresy that's commonly called the larger hope of the heathen. Let it not.
That is the Gentiles and before they were brought to God through Christ.
Where? Where Heathen.
Idol worshippers.
But the word says that they were not only without Christ, but they were without hope.
So it's important to see that.
The so-called larger whole for the heathen is a delusion, not important, Brother Hale. And indeed it is.
All the truth of God that has made Christ so precious is by revelation.
Man would never discover it.
By any brilliancy of mind.
For every man's mind.
Is the placing of the devil.
Until he is subject to God's revelation.
The reason we speak of it is because.
We've known of some who fell into the air as saying, well, the the heathen who wouldn't believe the gospel if they had a chance.
If they had a chance, they would believe it, but they'll be saved.
We've run into that error.
But of course that.
That's right along the line of what we are having this morning.
No one will come under God, no one except the Father, which has sent me drawing.
So we mustn't expect that the heathen are like some of the pictures we've seen on the back of.
Missionary magazines where they all have their arms outstretched waiting for the gospel.
Ask some real missionary that's been over there.
Brother Whitaker, Brother Anderson, did you find the heathen all anxious and just? All I wanted to do is to hear about Christ and accepted him. Was that the way it was, brother?
00:10:10
They were curious to hear what we had to say, and of course the first few times they would listen to it. But after they really found out what the message was, most of them wouldn't listen anymore.
However.
We did find perhaps one or two that seemed to be hungry for something.
I'm thinking of a boy about 10 years of age.
He came to us after we've been there a few months.
He came from a village about 50 miles away.
It took him two days.
To get to us two days walking.
And he had heard that we had come with the words of God.
When he told us that while he was in his village.
There was something in him that made him unhappy.
About idolatry.
That the fetishes in China.
That his parents had.
And he felt that there was something more.
And when you heard that, we come with the words of God. And he said, I've come to hear what you have to say.
And as soon as we heard the gospel, we accepted Christ as His lady. But we didn't find multitudes of them reaching out their hands for the gospel. But I believe God had begun to work in that boy's heart. That's just the point if there is a sincere soul anywhere on the face of the earth today in this dispensation or administration.
That really wants to know the true God. He'll do just what he did with that boy. He'll send somebody there to tell him with Christ.
This is the work of God.
But you believe on him whom he has sent.
No one natural mind never seeks after God. God is the seeker. This is the work of God that you believe on humanity. Assembly.
It's God active in love.
The carnal mind is enmity against God.
That's true of everyone of Adam's race.
But Kyle, that's Romans 8.
The carnal mind that's so when you preach the gospel.
Try to reach the conscience.
And the love of God displayed in the gift of his Son.
But.
Not reason the mind into it. Conscience never turns into No, that's true.
Conscience never turns into a man's head turns into over not his conscience in this day of the broad theology.
Man says, well, everybody is seeking after God in his own way.
They are not.
Romans 3 Yes, none. Let's take it after God is God's verdict.
And there again it comes in that God must draw one.
I'd add to that, brother to that there's no right thought of God or his ways apart from his revelation of himself.
Every time you say this is an old statement of mine. Every time you say, I think you think wrong on every moral and spiritual subject except your thoughts.
Are governed by the word of God. You won't know how to bring up your family. You won't know how to conduct your business. You won't know where to remember the Lord in his death.
The thoughts of the man are vain or empty.
He needs the word of God, and so it is true.
That by every word that proceedeth out of his mouth shall man live.
That 12Th verse is a triple indictment, isn't it?
Without Christ, without hope, and without God.
There's where we were. All of us.
And strangers from the Commonwealth of Israel. There was a blessing at one time connected with being an Israelite.
But the Gentile didn't even have that.
00:15:00
Now what was the chief blessing of being an Israelite? They had the oracles of God. They had the Old Testament.
A little word cut makes the greatest change, doesn't it? But.
Now in Christ Jesus he who sometimes were far off.
As the Gentiles, positionally they were far off.
Are made 9 by the blood of Christ.
The Jews were near. They had the Arkansas God said. They had the knowledge of the true God.
And they were in the land, and God had given to Abraham. They had his temple, his priesthood.
And all that his prophets.
They were a wonderfully favored people.
But the Gentiles outside of Israel?
Had no connection with that at all.
They were far away.
What a wonderful change when the gospel.
And brought them to.
Knowledge of Christ or the acceptable failure, and those who are far off have been brought. Not so when your major the distance and then you measure the nearness.
Wonderful and precious constructed.
And now is in Christianity.
And not merely brought to Israel, but into a place that Israel never dreamed of.
It makes me think of what I one time read about Graham.
I enjoyed it.
William Kelly on the historical books.
He said that impossible.
For the Ephesians, the 18th verse, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God.
Answer is inland because of the blindness of their heart. Would that be natural darkness?
Yes.
And then Satan is increasing.
Then in in the third of John I take it we get will pull darkness there in the 19th verse. And this is the condemnation.
That light is commissioned. The world and men love darkness rather than light because these were evil.
Willfully artless leads on the judicial darkness as we get in Jeremiah 13. Is that it? They cast the light out.
They cast the light out.
But speaking now of.
Greyhound.
Mr. Kelly's remarks were something to the effect of him. The Book of Joshua and the Epistle to the Ephesians more or less coincide.
The book of Joshua brings Israel into the land, into the land of Canaan.
And they get possession of there. They had enemies.
Epistle to the Ephesians brings us into the heavenly land, and there we get the conflict with heavenly, with wicked spirits and heavenly places. But he commented about rehab, this poor outcast gentile without hope, without God, all outside of everything she's brought in when.
Brought in among Israel, not in the wilderness, but when they possessed the land of Canaan.
And so she is brought into all the blessings of the land.
Well, if you compare Joshua and Ephesians, that's the Gentiles. We Gentiles of this second chapter we're brought in not into Israeli blessings, but in all the blessings of that which Canaan was a typo, the heavenlies. Like I enjoyed it when I noticed it. Well, that's good. But the grace of God will bring back Israel when they have forfeited every right to blessing on two points.
The law, they broke it.
But blessing to us through the promised sea, but they crucified the promised seed.
So that they're brought back into blessing on the ground of pure grace.
Is not the end of the 11Th of Romans, and he might have mercy upon all, yes.
00:20:04
And that's why Paul breaks out into that doxology, because God has increased glory in their blessing.
When they forfeited every right to it on the ground of their own walk and waves.
They'll get to have a greater blessing in that day than they ever knew of old, yes. But you've got a better one, Yes. Where will they find that?
Turn to Hebrews 11.
For the whole Epistle to the Hebrews.
Is written to bring the Hebrew believers onto the ground of fall doctrine.
I repeat that now the whole epistle to the Hebrew is written to bring the Hebrew Hebrew believers onto the ground of the truth, Paul's doctrine that was given to him by revelation.
So in Hebrews 11.
Verse 39.
The chapter is of the Old Testament Saints blessed on the ground of faith.
And these, all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise, that is, they didn't get the land of Palestine.
God having provided some better thing for us, now you have the Church.
That they That's the Old Testament Saints without us.
That's the church now, and those brought onto the ground of Paul's doctrine.
Should not without us should not be made perfect. Now if you want to know what made perfect means, just blanch your eye to the next chapter, the 12Th chapter.
And the last part of the 23rd verse.
Unto the spirits of just men made perfect.
That is.
The Old Testament Saints that died in faith.
They are absent from the body and present with the Lord. I am Speaking of those who died in this dispensation.
But their salvation hasn't been perfected yet.
It will not be perfected until the Lord comes and they have their resurrection bodies. So when the Lord comes, the Old Testament Saints will be raised at the same time we are.
Well, not all the Old Testament Saints be raised, yes.
I meant that if I didn't say it, well you qualified it. But though since the since the.
Descended the Spirit, Or in this age? Well, if I did, I shouldn't have done so if the Old Testament Saints Olive in the 32nd of Deuteronomy.
It's a long chapter and we wouldn't think of trying to read it all at this time.
But in the 32nd of Deuteronomy in the ninth verse.
We read that the Lord's portion, our Jehovah's portion, is its people.
Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in the desert land, in the waste howling wilderness. He led him about, instructed him. He kept him as the apple of his eye.
Now down down to the 15th verse, but to sure and wax fat and kicked.
Dark wax and fat dark growing thick. They're covered with fatness. Then he forsook God which made him unlikely esteem the rock of his salvation. 18th verse.
Of the rock that begat thee are unmindful, and his forgotten God that formed thee.
And when the Lord sought him hard because of the provoking of his sons and of his daughters.
And he said, I will hide my face from I will see what their end shall be.
They are a very proven generation, children and who is no faith.
That word? Faith.
Is only used twice in the Old Testament. Here is one place and the other.
Is, I believe, in the second of Hebrews, in the in the second of.
Micah, I believe it is, but that's not the point I have in mind.
Yes, thank you. That's right now going on down.
Talking about these same people.
00:25:00
Oh, 29th verse all that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end.
Then the 35th verse.
To me belong with vengeance and recompense.
Therefore shall slide in due time.
36 Verse The Lord shall judge his people and repent himself for his servants when he sees that their power is gone.
Then.
The 43rd verse.
Rejoice, ye nations, with his people.
For he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land and to his people.
Think of that.
God, in that same chapter where he outlines their complete apostasy, ends up by stating that he's going to take them back into favor and avenge all their enemies.
Made merciful to his land and to his people. That's the sovereignty of God and brethren. He's going to do it. Nothing could stop it.
In Zachariah, he says that he's going to pour out the spirit of grace and supplication. Well, until he does that, they're just the dead bones, that valley of dry bones. Really not. We don't see that spirit of grace and supplication now.
But the time is coming when he will pour it out.
The veil is upon their hearts today.
You need to remember.
Because this tells us we've been brought tonight.
What it cost God and what it cost is fun to bring us now that touches our hearts.
To realize that it was nothing short of life can't bless the eternal Son of God that could bring us.
In the last place of nearness, so great was the distance, so often was our state, so careful where our sins before God, that his Son had believed the soul of glory.
Become an outcast in this world and suffer a little shame. He fooled that from the cross and his wife's bloody sheds, and that's for me. And that should keep us humble and it should keep us.
With affections our hearts warm and tender.
Towards that one, when such love accomplished the work to bring us into such a marvelous strength of nearness, where those blessings that are found in this book are portioned now, and shall be our portion hereafter and for eternity.
He is our peace, he a person.
Christ himself, he is our peace. What does that mean, Brother Brown? I think it means just what it says, that the end of all question of controversy between man and God's Christ.
Mr. Potter used to put it this way in connection with the question of righteousness.
He said Nothing that Christ ever did in life or in death is our righteousness but he himself.
And so it is with the question of peace. He is our peace. Well, I agree with you. Only I you correct being. You think I'm wrong. He is our peace is the bringing together of Jew and Gentile, one in Christ and the middle wall of partition broken down.
And our peace is the converted dew and the converted Gentile, if I'm going to be simple.
And he's broken down the middle wall of partition. It'll be up again after we're gone and during the whole of the Millennium, Israel will be the center of glory and government for the earth.
I had thought, Brother Hale, that the 17th verse brings out.
What you're presenting to us and came and freaked, peace to them, To you which were far off, and to them which denial that's definitely brings that in. Well, what about the end of the 14th, 1St brother?
We've broken down the middle wall. A partition between us was the middle wall, a partition between Brother Barry and Brother Hayhoe.
Who's it between?
00:30:02
Well, that's between Jew and Gentile.
He is our peace. And if a jewel gets converted here in Chicago.
And really has accepted Christ. You receive him into fellowship, and his hope is not to go back to Palestine or to enjoy the blessing of the Lord's reign in the millennial day, but he's a member of the body of Christ and can break bread with you and look for Christ as the head of Israel. No, the head of the Church.
The Epistle to the Ephesians is the bringing out of that truth.
And the Jew and Gentile are all one interest. And in this chapter for the sake of the young the Ye or the Gentiles and the we are the Jews, Yes, And in the early verse take the second verse.
Wherein in time past ye walked, it's the Gentiles and their ungodliness. Yes, the third verse, among which also we all had our conversation. That was the Jewish Depravity.
Yes. And then the ye and the we are both brought into blessing in Christ. Yes, If we do not keep the distinction between the ye and the we in Ephesians we will we will not understand the mind of God. That's true, brother. I was just saying that for the young people.
Can I ask a question? Yeah, that also includes relations.
3.
The Jeff he does use in Galatians the same.
24th verse of Galatians 3.
Therefore, the law was our school manager.
To bring us on the price, or on your face that really might be justified by faith. But after the faith is come, we are we are no longer under a schoolmaster, for ye are all the children of God by faith in thy feet.
Our schoolmaster until Christ, that was Israel, wasn't it?
Ventile has never underlined.
It's really fun there because it's it's bringing into a place of privilege and.
The Jew under the law has The next chapter unfolding was just like a service. But now he looked at it as a son because he's no longer under the school master. School days are over.
And now he is in all the privileges.
That belong to sonship. So nice to notice. Mr. Darby looked at his son's there by faith in Christ Jesus. Back to our 14th verse again.
Mr. Hayhoe may be right on his interpretation of this verse. I do not say that he's not, but the point that one was making is this.
That it's it's himself. That's the peace. He is our peace.
Here isn't what he's done.
But it's himself. It's on the basis of what he's done.
13th verse now in Christ Jesus, he who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
That's the way, that's the basis of it. But he is the peace.
Well, how good that is for the soul to realize.
Christianity is Christ. If I have Christ, all is well. If I don't have Christ, nothing is well. All of my religion, my churchianity, my good works, they all go into the discard. They're no good. But if I have Christ, all is well. We have a given in our little clock funeral book based on three verses here.
It's 15 in the appendix.
And the third verse on this team.
Is based on the 14th verse here.
And.
The the first standard of the him is based on the 15 verse and the second standard based on the 71St.
Well, in the third standard of the Hume.
It says, Behold, him now is gone, and high upon the throne who took his seat all wondrous grace that we brought 9 And in him seated are complete.
00:35:01
He is our peace.
For light divine peace may cost me.
And then in the first dance, it says he has made peace.
And then the second standard he preached his feet.
Rather brown you were speaking about.
Mr. Potter's remark that nothing that Christ did in life or in death is our righteousness.
Is there not? Is that not generally misunderstood in Krishna? Yes, definitely. Does not christen them generally talk about imputed righteousness? Yes, they do.
We are made the righteousness of God in Him, and Christ himself is our righteousness.
And where it says faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness, it merely means his faith was found as a righteous thing, which does.
Isn't it blessed, brethren? Every believer stands before God in a life that never sinned at all.
I remember well as a young man.
Getting that at a conference in Toronto must be.
Oh brother, it must be over 50 years ago.
I went home rejoicing in spirit. What?
IA Sinner stand before God.
In a life that never sinned at all, the thought thrilled my soul for days.
And that's true of every believer, every believer.
You're standing before God. Could not be more perfect than it is, and it cost God.
The giving up of his son into death, and the judgment that he bore to bring that about.
And Paul is the only one that unfolds that doctrine for us.
Now notice we don't know I'd help me, so I'll pass it on to you. Will you turn to Acts 10 and we'll hear Peter preaching?
I'm thankful to have got this when I was a young man.
We hear Peter preaching in the 10th of Acts.
And the 42nd verse.
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of quick, or the living and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
Now that's Peter preaching. That's as far as he goes. Peter never gives you Pauls doctrine. Now let's turn over to the 13th chapter near Paul preaching.
Verse 38.
You'll never get it from any other but Paul. Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins. That's as far as Peter goes now and by him should read, and in him.
And in him all that believe are justified from all things from which he could not be justified by the law of Moses, you never get Peter giving you justification. So Romans 8 and one there is now therefore no condemnation or judgment to them that have their sins forgiven, no to them that are in Christ Jesus.
Oh, how precious.
Oh, how wonderful. I went home from that meeting with a thrill in my soul, but I was not only forgiven.
But I stood before God in Christ. He was my righteousness.
Justified from all things.
That every blessing in the heart of God could flow out.
My enjoyment of it and your enjoyment of it depends upon your walk.
It's all yours, as I've tried to emphasize in these meetings.
That every Christian blessing.
Is unto all, all are equally blessed before God.
But your enjoyment of it depends upon your wall and all our failures, whether as sinners or Saints, springs from unbelief of the goodness that's in the heart of God.
00:40:03
And if you lose your temper or do anything, that's grieving to the Holy Spirit of God.
And he'll have to speak to your conscience instead of speaking to your heart.
And if he's not speaking to your heart right now, you're at the communion. You're out of communion.
Because he dwells in you. And if I were asked what characterized the present day?
In Contra distinction from the past and even the future.
I would say it is the presence of the Holy Spirit of God come down to give us a taste of heaven and the enjoyment of these things before we get there.
They'll not be in doubt by the Holy Spirit even in the Millennium, and they were not in the Old Testament. That is peculiar and distinctive of this present day. And why has he given us the Holy Ghost?
Why did he give it to us? Turn to John 7 and the dancers.
37th verse.
In the last day, that great day of the feast that was the feast of Tabernacles, the only feast that had an eighth day connected with it, and the 8th day brings to new creation.
Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. Why do you want to be at these reading meetings? And is it simply to have a better knowledge of the Bible?
I hope not. I hope it's the night. Enjoy Christ, his person and his work more and more.
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying of any man thirst. Let him come unto me and drink.
He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. In other words, there's two things I want to bring before you.
Out of his belly.
Is instructive, It's truth taken in and digested.
No Old Testament St. was even in the good spiritually of that which was given.
He'd have waited the coming of the Holy Spirit to give him the intelligent good of it. Now it's out of his belly because the Spirit has come to give us the intelligent good.
Of all the precious river of grace that flows from the person and work of Christ, In other words, is to give you a taste of heaven before you get there.
Flow rivers of living water.
And that's the normal condition of every healthy St. of God.
That true?
Down to the 21St version.
I have a little together.
Then says Jesus doesn't engage. He's beyond the youth, as my father has sent me, Even so send are you you and I think for you.
This morning I think I referred. I thought, you know, it'd be nice if you had spoken of the following verb, because I think it's much misunderstood or something.
And when he had said this, he breathed on that and stepped on the ring, received the Holy Ghost. Let's not the indwelling. No, leave out the TH E there.
It's when Adam was created, God breathed into their nostrils the breath of life.
Man became a living soul.
Here in John, it's a risen Christ breathing upon them and receive its life.
In blessing from a risen Christ, and you and I have right now the same life that we'll have in heaven.
And.
That new life desires new food.
And in the measure in which we feed upon Christ through the Word, that new life is seen in our daily walk, But receive ye the Holy Ghost, is not the same as Pentecost here.
00:45:07
It's life in resurrection, fullness and blessing. Leave out the word thing.
Receive the Holy Spirit.
In the end of.
The first chapter in First Corinthians.
One calls attention to this to enlarge a little upon the.
What has been before us? He is our peace. That is that Christ is everything.
In the end of First Corinthians 1.
30th verse.
Of him, that's of God.
Are ye in Christ Jesus?
Christ is made of God.
Unto us now here's what Christ is made.
Wisdom.
He's my wisdom.
And righteousness. He is my righteousness.
And sanctification. He is my sanctification.
And redemption, He is my redemption. That is, it's intimately personal. It's the person of the Christ that's looked at here.
As being the one that God looks upon.
And if it's a question of wisdom, he's my wisdom. If it's a question of righteousness, he's my righteousness. He is my righteousness.
Oh, what a rest that is to the soul. Nothing that he did but he himself is my righteousness.
Supposing any challenge were raised in heaven above.
As to my title to be there now, I know it never will be, but supposing it were I simply point to Christ, I say there's my answer.
He is my righteousness, and I have no other. I have no other.
He is my righteousness. Do you have Christ? Do you All right? You have righteousness. And God says so. God says he's made him to be our righteousness. So that's why does wisdom come first, brother?
Why does wisdom come first? You tell us.
Because you you'll never know the blessedness of the truth until you listen to his voice.
And not only.
This is much on my heart what I'm about to say.
And that is that we listen to his voice in order to be saved, to become children of God.
But do you listen to his voice as how to govern your home and your business?
Oh, wisdom is found in the Word of God, not simply to know that your sins are forgiven, but for your daily walk at ways man shall not live by bread only.
But by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God shall man live.
Your cat Walker right in any circle of life without the wisdom of God to govern your thoughts.
Then He is our righteousness. We're not seeking after it, But Christ is our life and righteousness, and that's how we stand before God.
And sanctification? What does that mean?
Oh, we are called upon to walk even as he walked.
Separate sanctification is separated, and the Lord separated from every motive that governed the unsaved man.
For every unsaved man in this world is governed by self pleasing.
Self pleasing.
What you and I are to be governed by pleasing the Lord, isn't it?
Sanctification is to be set apart from every motive that governs the human heart and mind.
And redemption. Why is that put at the end? Because we haven't received the fullness of the blessing yet. I've still got Gray hairs, and I see others have two.
When the redemption is complete.
With the light Christ in glory morally.
And physically and be a temple as we'll have in the Second of Ephesians.
A temple to Jehovah's praise. And every one of us will realize, in a way we don't know, that we owe it to the grace of God that brought us there. Sometimes you young folks will have others get hold of you and try to sway away from these things that we're hearing.
00:50:19
And when you protest, they'll say, well, you're not open to conviction. Well, just tell them frankly, no, I'm not. I'm not open to conviction. The thing has been settled.
Supposing someone were to ask you, if you were open to conviction as to the virtue of your wife, would you be open to conviction? Of course you wouldn't.
So in in connection with what we have received of God, we're not open to conviction. We've settled it. That thing is settled. We don't open up the subject at all.
Possibly someone comes along and says I I'd like to go into this question with you as to the deity of Christ.
If you're open to conviction, I think I can show you some things.
Well, the moment he opens his mouth, if you see that the line of truth that he's bringing before you is something to lure that truth or to take it from you, just close him off right there. Say that's settled. I'm not open to conviction. That thing settled forever. Isn't that right, brother Neil?
To know that's what characterizes Christianity. I remember when I was in the hospital.
And.
Doctor said to me.
When Are you sure?
Why? I said. I'm just as sure of being with my savior and glory as if I was already there right now.
God has said it. I have believed it, and thank God that I know it to be the truth.
I know it. Oh, isn't it lovely to be a Christian?
Isn't it lovely to think of all you, dear brethren? There isn't one of you should go away from these meetings with any doubt?
And don't forget, your enjoyment of the truth of God depends upon your walk.
God would occupy you with Christ. He is a satisfying portion and no one ever lived to please the Lord Jesus and live to regret it.
Live to regret it, and you can order your home, right? Or your business life, alright, Or your associations with your neighbors are right, except you have the wisdom of God to guide you.
In your thoughts and words and deeds.
That reaches the conscience of man.
And.
Happiness is the portion of every child of God that walks that path. So Paul and Silas could sing in jail.
Didn't they sing in jail?
Was it because they had a Turkey dinner?
No, Isn't that a song on the woods and searching the word too that we get.
Those glad thrushes, of course. Corinthians. Six or four teams add there the summer time. One is it. Know you love that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. We just Hindu, if you have of God and you are not your own aboard from the sun.
That's a certain word not only for young people by the hill, but for his own brother.
Or precious is the word of God, I think divided may tell us.
Old brother Sobek and I and Scranton went to see a lady and her husband there.
And they were holiness people.
Oh, she said to me as we sat there. God won't dwell in a defiled temple, and he'll leave you if you if you fail or sin.
Oh, I said. Lady, I think I'll have to change the Bible to search your doctrine.
For it says Grieve, not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed until you do something wrong.
No sealed until the day of redemption. Lady, He never leave you, but you lose your joy in the Lord, for he'll have to occupy you with your failure. But thank God he won't leave you.
You're sealed until the day of rejection, she said. I've never thought of that.
All wrong doctrine is a contradiction of scriptures somewhere.
00:55:02
Word God is perfect.
That everyone of you dear Christians, in this afternoon here in this meeting, I'm going to meet you in glory. Sure, but your happiness depends upon your walk. Be careful to do nothing that will grieve the Holy Spirit of God that dwells in you. He won't leave you, but he can't give you the joy of your salvation while you walk carelessly.
Is that right?
Mr. Brown has, in keeping with what you've been giving us.
About being in Christ. Christ is our righteousness.
And you could point to Christ in glory and say there's he's my righteousness.
I have recently encountered a number of Christians, no question about it now breaking break.
Who have at different times been plunged into doubt and despair.
As to whether their sins were forgiven.
They brought about largely through bad teaching.
Having them look inward to see if they had repented enough.
And such like things.
Do you not think that if a Christian laid hold of this truth?
Of what Christ is to it. Now he's seen in Christ that it would be the end of all that.
I suppose it's the sevens of Romans, is what it is the state of that kind.
Well, they get in perspective. And you know, there is a line of gospel teaching today.
By real gospel preachers too, that says that you have to know the moment when and the manner in which in the place where you were saved and given account of it.
And if you didn't repent enough, perhaps you're not saved at all.
I find that that has done untold damage to souls.
Long after they get peace, they revert to inward looks.
And then begin to wonder, where was it deep enough? Did I repent enough? You remember Mr. Potter's scripture to answer that, don't you? No, I do not.
Well, look at John's Gospel, the third chapter.
The reason I bring it up, I've had so much of it lately that I believe it must be more prevalent than we think.
John 3. This is Mr. Potter's answer to that.
The eighth verse, the wind bloweth where it listens.
Thou hearest the sound thereof that can't not tell.
Wednesday cometh, and whither it goeth, so is everyone that's born of the Spirit, he says. That's something nobody can tell. And that was his first point right there. That is, no one can pray when one is born again. They may be able to say when they got peace with God when that new light entered.
That gave the exercise that resulted.
Down there, believing the gospel, That's another thing, isn't it? Entirely. I had a variance with a dear soul that had spent most of her life.
The very unhappy state and she was facing death and she said, well, she was told when she was a young woman that she had to know the time on the plate where she was saved and she said I didn't know the time and the place and so she said I just decided I wasn't safe, she went on.
She was getting along in years. Well, I said that's true. Then I'm not saved either. I said that's a sad thing after enjoying the Lord for many years to find out at last or not clean. Why? She said. I never heard anybody talk like that before. Well, I said, your trouble is you're looking inside.
To get peace, I said faith, look is always an outcome. Look. Faith looks at the cross of Christ and things that work completed and accomplished there. Well, I didn't know the results until later and she said she told me afterwards. Before you left, she says I knew that I was saved. It was all severed. She went under the operation happy, rejoicing in the Lord. She's been rejoicing ever since.
01:00:03
I just got her eyes off of that inward inspection about that time and place and got her.
And got her thoughts onto the the work of Christ away from herself, and she got peace.
The best illustration I've ever read on that point. I don't know where I picked it up.
But the man was telling about.
Being on the ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and going to South America.
Now he said that we were in our bunks.
And none of us knew when we crossed the equator. None of us knew we had no instruments. We didn't know when we crossed the equator. He was just a passenger.
But then he said that.
One night we looked up in the sky and we saw the Southern Cross.
Oh, we said. Why, we've crossed the equator.
There's the Southern Cross. We can see it.
Well, I think that's a lovely illustration. You may not know as to pinpoint the moment when you pass from death to life. This verse we read in John says no man can. But when you see beauty in Christ, when you love to be with God's people, when you love to read His word, why something's happened along the way. Somewhere you've crossed the equator.
That's the point. Make that you think your brother aired in Montreal. He went to see his sister in the meeting and she was doubting her salvation and quite unhappy.
He looked at her and he said, well, sister, why not give up Christ and die without him? We shall long member, she said. I'll never do that.
Of course you won't, sister, because you're going to be with him and she went home happy. There's one sin that no Christian can commit.
And that is to deny Christ from his heart.
Charles E Finney, the Great Evangelist. Probably the the most God used evangelist that ever was in the history of this country. Charles G Finney. He was coming back from a preaching trip in England on the boat, and the devil attacked him.
And got him into despair.
Got him into despair about his own soul, and he had been used in the salvation of thousands.
And finally he got out on his knees in his cabin.
And he said, Lord.
If it's more for your glory, if it's more for your glory that I spend eternity in hell, that's where I want to go.
And you got peace immediately.
And God, Peace right? Thanks.
Well, if we get back to our chapter now.
Speaking about the middle wall of partition being broken down perhaps?
The 49th chapter of Genesis on the 22nd verse.
Would give us a helpful illustration as to what is meant by that wall between you and Gentile that was broken down.
49th chapter of Genesis.
And the 22nd verse.
Joseph is a fruitful bow, even a fruitful bow by a wall.
Branches run over the wall.
Well, that was the position of the Jews.
Up to this time when the gospel was free.
If Israel was surrounded by a wall separation that separated them from all the other nations.
And the Gentiles are blessing it was because.
A branch ran over the wall and poor gentile got some of the brakes on the other side of the wall. We get an example like that in rules.
You got some of those grapes, for the vine ran over the wall and the Moabites got saved. So it was all through the Old Testament time that was the only way that they could get blessings, was in some way to come in contact with God's earthly people to do.
But now there's another discrimination.
That has been brought in and as we saw, the Gentiles hearing the gospel preached receiving it, and then the Jews hearing the same gospel.
01:05:05
While that little wall is broken down and as he tells us here in this chapter before us.
And has broken down the middle wall of partition between us.
Having abolished in his place, placed the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances.
The Jews had the law and they had ordinances.
That a Jew celebrated and in order to be in the economy of Israel.
A stranger had to be circumcised and virtually become a Jew to enjoy those privileges.
But now that intimately has been taken away in the cross of Christ.
All that as it tells us here.
Broken down the middle wall of partitions between us and so on.
Or to make in himself a twain, there's the two doing that top one new man, so making peace. So now consider the separation instead of a wall.
Why? They looked at as one body, and that's where the truth of the Church is. The one body is introduced. It's composed of both Jew and Gentile.
And in the 18 verse both have access to the fathers.
You're lovely, isn't it? Our same father don't. Same father in the same. They're under the same condition. I suppose there's never been a time in the history of the Church when some Jews haven't been in it. There was a time at the beginning when no Gentiles were in.
But we say them both, one not. Is that right? Yes, I suppose at the start there were those that had been Gentiles that were in it, proselytes, but but no others.
We have exactly the same title whether we're Jew and Gentile come in, There's no priority now.
It's no longer what the Jewish Mission people are constantly putting out in their magazines.
Most, almost any Jewish mission magazine.
You see somewhere in it. To the Jew first, to the Jew first.
O brother, that Julia, that kind of thing is increasing in wickedness. They're sending it to me, and I wouldn't like to even tell you how far they've departed from the truth.
It's serious and solemn, and again I say Ephesians one and 10 is the key to the whole Bible, and I never met a person in my life who could keep scripture in order.
Unless they saw the truth of that verse, that in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things interest, both which are in heaven and that comes first, and which are on earth, even in him will I tell you what may be simple in a way.
My own dear, beloved wife was in system in her early childhood days.
I said to her, I knew her for years before we were married. I said to you. Or do you ever pray that God will knockout the teeth of the ungodly?
She says no for ourself, she says. I'll ask our minister. So she went to the minister. She was in the Anglican Church in the city of Toronto.
And he said, you've been talking to those brethren. I never talked to them. You have no answer, of course.
Well, but I said, is it wrong? It's in the Bible. It's the word of God. Is it wrong?
No, she had enough reverence, she said. It can't be wrong, but I don't understand it.
When the moment we go to heaven, it'll be the mind of God to go back to Saturday. There'll be no Sunday or Lords Day according to the mind of God after we're gone. Sunday or the first day of the week is the new creation.
01:10:10
And they'll go back to Saturday and it'll be right for those that are born of God, of the nation of Israel, after we're gone to pray for the destruction of their enemies.
Why? Because their inheritance is down here, and they cannot get it in peaceful possession until God comes in in power and judgment. Turn to the 144th Psalm and you'll see it.
Oh, and numbers of scriptures. But that 144th Psalm will give it to you.
I never met a Christian in my life. Could keep the Bible straight and nuts and off.
144th South.
Blessed be the Lord, my strength, which teacheth my hands toward you. You pray that.
And my fingers to fight.
My goodness and my fortress, my high tower, my delivery, my shield, And he in whom I trust, who subdueth my people under me, Do you pray that?
Lord, what is man now? This is the contrast with Psalm 8.
Here in Psalm 8, what is man?
He is there. It's Christ here. It is man in his weakness. It's the very antithesis of the 8th Psalm.
Lord, what is man, that thou takeest knowledge of him, or the son of man, that thou makest account of him? Man is like to vanity. His days are as a shadow that passeth away. Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke, cast forth lightning, and scatter them. Shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
Send thine hand from above. Rid me, and deliver me out of great waters from the hand of strange children whose mouths speaketh vanity. In their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. That's the Spirit of God, giving the godly Remnant the very language to use in prayer.
But.
Can't only face can lay hold of the truth, can understand why God doesn't do it and do it in a wholesale fashion.
Where God can destroy all the wicked in a moment if you wished. And this Psalm is that saying that God isn't going to destroy the wicked in a moment.
Why? Why? Because it's a principle all through the ways of God always that he gives space and time to repent and the Great White Throne evil isn't set up until man has been tried and tested.
And God waiting in patience, in a patience that is divine. And the great white throne doesn't come until after the the millennial reign when they see all the goodness of God. Whether hail could I interrupt just a minute, I'd like to hear you give us something on the difference between the the body of Christ and the House of God. That's more or less what completes this chapter.
Would you give us something on that?
Will the body of Christ is formed by the Holy Spirit coming down. So we see that in First Corinthians 12.
I think Brother Brown spoke of it correctly too. 1St Corinthians 12.
For in the 12Th verse, for as the body is 1 and that many members and all the members of that one body being many, are one body, so also is the Christ really that's the head of the members spoken of as one Justice, Adam and Eve are spoken of as Adam.
Or by 1 Spirit, are we all baptized into one body?
Whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one spirit.
There the body was formed. On the day of Pentecost, it exists.
And will be caught up when the Lord comes. And that's why we have one loaf on the table.
But the House of God?
01:15:00
Is that which we enter by profession and.
In a house, there are vessels to honor and dishonor.
Everyone that professes the name of Christ is in the house.
Those that are real.
Are manifested by their fruit. So by their fruit you shall know, and when it's the House of God.
It is the thought of conduct.
So first Peter, Chapter 3.
Peter speaks of the house. He never speaks of the body.
That was given to Paul, not Peter.
First Peter 4 verse 17 is the key to the Epistle. So the time has come that judgment must begin at the House of God. And if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
With the righteous scarcely should be, if the righteous with difficulty be saved.
Where shall the ungodly and Sinner appear?
All that profess Christ are in the house, whether he or the where Peter speaks of his living stones are built up. A spiritual house to offer a spiritual sacrifice is acceptable to God. By Jesus Christ there is a stone.
Are all living stones in there then a view of the house?
That where it's a vital thing, where it isn't just profession. Well, the subject here before.
How therefore you're no more strangers and partners, but fellow citizens with a Saint of the household of God, and are built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Now is that the same thought as Peter gives us in the second chapter of his first Epistle after the living Stones?
Aren't there? Aren't there 2 views of the House of God?
One where God is the builder and the other where man is building. Thank you for that truth and where man is building failures come comes in.
You can. You can have profession. You have souls brought in that are not real. But where God is looked at as the builder, all is vital. Good. That's right. Now it's here. That's here. Brother Brown. I'm. I'm well. I have taken. I had taken this as vital. The end of this chapter is vital. But.
Behavior in the House of God, as Brother Hajo says.
Behavior is connected with the house, not with the body. So that in the house aspect and it in the house and it's broader aspect.
Where behavior is connected with it, we may have that. That's not real.
So in the builders that you have in the third chapter of First Corinthians.
You have those that bring in good material and those that bring in bad material, and then you have another class that defile the temple.
Well, be careful. But in its broad aspect, the house is its brother. Hill was just saying it's all a profession. They're all in the house in that way.
So it's likened, though it's not called a Great House, but in Timothy second Timothy.
It's likened to a great house. They're all in the house and we have to purge ourselves from the unclean vessels.
In the house, all in the house, good and bad, and we purge ourselves from the unclean vessels in the house. That's in its broad aspect, but in its vital aspect, where God is the builder, all the material is good. Well, in the last verse of the chapter is whom also young are building together for a habitation of God through the Spirit. Is that another thought? Now I think it that's the the dwelling place of God.
Is not the second last verse.
Taken from the assembly of the Tabernacle and the last verse from the temple.
I thought the 21St verse was the temple and the last verse was the Tabernacle. Oh yes, just reverse the Tabernacle, I looked up.
But the last, the last verse is the Tabernacle. That's what it's what's going on now.
01:20:00
Isn't it that the Spirit of God is dwelling in that now? Well, in that sense, it need not to be vital.
No, according to Hebrews, it would. Even unbelievers were in that spirit. Won't it be lovely, brethren, when we look at one another in glory?
I'll see nothing but Christ in you, and you'll see nothing but Christ in me. We won't even have to bear with one another.
God will never be satisfied.
Until we're at home in the father's house.
Every one of us, children of God, with the old nature gone forever, not an evil thought will ever enter our minds in Yonder. Loving the future that awaits us should make us.
All just burst into praise. But we ought all to his grace, and thank God, I say again.
Every believer in this company is going to be there.
I'm with Christ and like him forever. What a future to gladden your heart. Then the last verse is what is here now?
Yeah, God willing has any particular time in the history of the Church Spirit of God has had it well in place since the Spirit came down and united that.
That 120.
The House of God was here immediately because it was a plumbing place from God in this world, and that's always true, and that's always complete in that sense. But then the other view, where the temple is like Solomon's temple, the material was all brought there.
A temple ground, but then it had to be built up. So every time a thinner is saved while the stone is added in the light building. But the other view is it's always looked at as a complete thing. That's where I think.
Him Number 99.
Number 99.
His glory and his graceful he gave himself so letting his stone.
Oh my God.
They're also saying 248.
And forward.
Illness.

Can we go on with our second of Ephesians? I think we go down about the eighth verse, if I remember rightly.
Second chapter of Ephesians and verse 8.
For my grace are ye saved through faith and that note of yourself, It is the gift of God.
Not a word lest any man should vote for we are his workmanship.
00:10:00
Cleared in Christ Jesus under good work, which God of the four ordained, and who should walk in them?
Wherefore, remember that ye being in time past, Gentiles in the plague were called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hat. But at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel, and strangers, and the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes are far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
For He is our peace, who have made both one and broken down the middle wall of partition between us, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances.
For to make in himself of Twain one new man.
So making peace.
And that he might reconcile both under God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both had access.
By one Spirit under the Father.
Now, therefore, you're no more strangers and foreigners.
But fellow citizens with the Saints and of the household of God.
And I built from the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
In whom all the buildings fitly framed together.
Growing unto a holy temple in the Lord.
In whom he also are building together.
For inhabitation of God.
Through the spirit.
One is reminded in reading that eighth verse.
Of another verse in first Peter one.
In order to get the connection, we'll read the whole sentence.
First, Peter 1/3.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, but according to his abundant mercy.
Have begun us again to a lively hoped by the resurrection.
Of Jesus Christ from the dead.
To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, fadeth not away reserved in heaven for you.
Who are kept by the power of God, but don't stop there through faith.
That is the IT isn't an artificial keeping.
It isn't something that you go away in the safety box in the bank.
But it's it's a living keeping through faith.
So here in our verse, by grace are you saved. It's by all by grace, but.
It's through faith operative in the soul.
Student at Precious to see Brethren that the first of Ephesians.
All are blessing and its source in the Father's heart.
In the second chapter is the work of the son.
In the third chapter, it's the Holy Spirit making it all good in our soul.
And then the 4th chapter is so to walk in the good of it.
That we may enjoy.
All these blessings by the Spirit before we get there.
For our enjoyment of the truth depends upon our walk.
But all remember.
The first chapter.
The source of all blessing is the purpose and heart of the Father.
May I add another Christ didn't come when Adam and Eve sinned.
4000 years of man's rebellion and wickedness followed.
And after it all, the heart of God is unchanged.
00:15:00
Aunt Jane, have you failed? I am, but the heart of God is unchanged. Don't try to love the Lord any more than you do.
Sit down and think of how much he loves you.
And every Christian blessing is yours.
And our enjoyment.
Of depends upon our state of soul.
And all the exhortations of scriptures.
Are founded upon what you possess. Never is it getting the thing by your own effort.
Equally blessed.
All thou rich.
God wants us to enjoy heaven before we get there.
And so when nothing that we have time, we do not receive from him, but there is nothing that we have that we do not receive from him. Even his faith is not in yourself. Exactly so broken.
Every group gifts and every perfect gift cometh down from above, and God has no favorites. Every one of us are equally blessed.
Our enjoyment of it depends upon our walk and all the exhortations of Scripture, without any exception whatever.
The founder department what to possess. Never just getting the thing by your own effort.
You were speaking about the fourth hours and years.
Made me think of Galatians 4:00 and 4:00. But when the fullness of the time was coming, God sent forth his sons made of a woman.
Made under the Lord.
While we're dealing, man, that were unbelievable.
That we might go see the adoption on stone. Why does it take me to the woman there? Well, you tell us.
Because, as I told you yesterday, you've got something on your mind here, come out with.
When the Galatians were were not Jews, there were 10 pastors.
And the Gentiles brought into blessing now in a very special way. But God had it in his heart away back in Genesis. It wasn't the seed of Abraham. That was the special promise to Israel.
But when God is Speaking of the blessings of the Gentile.
He says the seed of the woman.
Because it is the grace of God going out beyond Israel. To the Gentile, the the Galicians were Gentiles. That's why it says see to the woman for these things in the council have gone.
Of course they were being before the world was coming.
The gift of God takes in a number of things, doesn't it?
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift is the outstanding 1.
But everything that we have, we receive as a gift, a gift from the Blessed Lord himself, to be used for himself as he directs.
There will not be an unsatisfied desire in heaven.
Every believer equally blessed of God.
And it will be eternal.
The Bride of Christ. When it's a bride, it's her beauty. When it's a wife, it's her relationship.
When it's a Candlestick, it's the responsibility to give life.
When it is the house, it is the thoughtless conduct. When it is a temple, the thought is worship. When it is a city, it is administrative government.
All those circles of blessing belong to us by grace.
I remember Brother Hini Anatwa saying to the mayor of Appa he would happen to be a Christian. Haven't you begun to reign a little too soon? He said.
Little too soon.
Already time is coming now to take the place of suffering.
And it's important, brethren, to see.
That only the grace of God maintains a testimony in these dark and difficult days.
But there's special encouragement.
To those who do maintain and walk in the truth until the coming of the Lord.
Hold fast that which thy thou hast doesn't stop there.
00:20:02
No man takes thy sound. What is that? There's a special reward for those that walk in the truth in a day of ruin. That, read by the Wilson, certainly is.
But you'll never walk in it in your own strength.
Never.
None of us could do any boasting.
In the eternal day, and it should be.
All praise to him. Never start the day without getting on your knees and asking grace to walk in the light and wisdom of the truth.
Because God alone can keep us in a day of ruin such as we're living in now.
If there's any glory, it must be in the Lord.
That no man may vote not of worth.
Lest any man should hold, I was thinking of this, brother Kohler, in connection with this.
Lot of works.
Faith, the gift of God.
There are plenty of people that profess to believe.
In the work of Christ for them.
But they're unwilling to acknowledge that apart from grace that wrought in their hearts, it would have been enough. No avail.
Why am I different?
While thousands rejected, I can't take the credit for it.
I I talked with a man professing to be a Christian not so long ago.
And he was smart enough to accept it.
And I quoted this verse to him, his eighth verse. I said, Where did you get the faith? Oh, he said, I had it. He didn't have it. And so the work of Christ for us was absolutely necessary for God to bring us to himself.
But if it hadn't been for the work of the Spirit of God producing faith.
Causing us to believe, drawing our hearts after him.
We wouldn't have done it.
The one that spread the feast had to compel the people who come in, didn't they? Christianity is the only religion of faith on the earth.
And everything that you possess as a Christian is the fruit of faith, never of reason. Have you got the forgiveness of your sins? Did reason tell you our faith?
Have you Have you got eternal life?
Did reason tell you our faith?
Do you believe there is a heaven? You ever been there? How do you know? Reason, tell you no faith.
Every blessing is on the principle of faith. Why? God's purpose is that no man should glory in his presence. It'll be all praise up there, dear brethren.
Praise for the grace that saved us. Praise for the grace that has kept us. Praise for the home into which we are brought.
But no one of us can take any credit whatever.
Kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. I say that because.
The apostasy is going to be the fruit of the exaltation of the mind of man.
It's reasonable, and reason can never give you the truth. Never.
And nothing that you possess is the fruit of reason. Nothing.
It's always the fruit of faith and as I'll add this if you ever come to die.
The more brilliant your mind, the deeper the thought, if you trust it.
But.
If you just simply believe God.
Without any brilliancy of mind you can rejoice in the truth.
I know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the lawn, but how do you know it? Did reason tell you my father and my mother are up there? How do I know my father and mother are in heaven? Did reason tell me?
No faith.
You young boys and girls going to school.
It's the exaltation of man reason.
00:25:03
And that's going to end in utter apostasy.
That right, yes. I was wondering, Mr. Hayhoe, if it for the young people, it might not be well to state that while faith tells us it's faith founded on the word of God, yes, that's what faith is based on, yes. And if I have the word of God for something, I can trust it.
Faith, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Speaking of boastfulness here lest any man should boast.
Boastfulness is what characterizes the old man, and the flesh in us is in fine to boast of what the spirit has brought.
Now I've often thought a remark that Mister Wigwam used.
Which very homely, but he says the Carpenter never has to fear that the hammer will take credit for the work that has been done.
That's a good remark I remember making them.
Talking about.
That my grave to faith, Faith to that trust with love through grace from that same lovely gate. How sweetly as two cars take the gift within his face.
Oh, wonderful to see a man way back here in copper state before the recovery of the truth.
That's all that's so clearly.
And I thought it was remarkable that that him should be the end that comes first in our little temple, because we ought all the grace and the faith to accept the great as the gift of God. Without ago we couldn't even be in possession of all its faith has provided for us. It was down in the bottom of the sea.
The whale's belly that Jonah learned that salvation is of the Lord.
That was a very wholesome lesson, even there than anybody else.
Even there, he had been talking about doing something himself, hadn't he?
On the 6th of John.
This same line of things was brought before us.
These are family secrets and all. We don't proclaim this out on the street.
Beyond 637.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me.
That's one side of the truth.
And the other is in the comments for me I will in no wise cast out and down part in the chapter.
44th verse.
No man can come to me except the Father which has sent me to draw him.
Not in the glory above, when we're singing the praises of the lamb.
There will not be 1 voice there.
That will have a song like this.
Glory be to God for saving my soul.
And glory be to me for having the good judgment to accept the salvation when it was presented.
No, that's all love.
Not one little tiny bit of credit can we take for being there?
Salvation is of the Lord.
100%.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me.
Are you going to say well?
I believe that.
But one thing I can understand is why was I chosen?
Well beloved Saints of God.
We'll never get that question answered. It was because it was God's choice.
He made the choice, and we'll praise him for it, but he's never going to unlock the secret and let us know why he chose us rather than someone else.
The piece of steel which is drawn by the magnet has no wonderful properties in itself. It's the magnet, isn't it? The drawing. It's 44th verse of the 6th chapter. John is just like that. The Father draws him off.
And brings him to Christ, otherwise he was dead. Now this line of things that we're talking about is definitely rejected by the greater part of Christendom today.
00:30:10
As has been brought out.
Man is more and more accredited.
With the native ability, native goodness.
Spark of manliness there somewhere, Any.
And if you just put the right proposition before him, give him a chance, he'll make good.
But the teaching of the word of God is that they're hopelessly.
There is one bit of good There's nothing for God there.
And only the sovereign choice and the sovereign work of God and soul can bring anybody into heaven. If God had stopped with whosoever will let him come, he'd have had an empty heaven. But he didn't stop there.
We wouldn't discourage the preacher from preaching the gospel and preaching it earnestly, would we? Indeed, we would not, Brother Wilson.
I remember a mark of of deer dubbed close. He was a real gospel preacher. Some of us knew him.
And the hard shell Baptist preacher once challenged him said Toast. Why do you waste your time?
Working with sinners, you know it's all a matter of God's sovereign choice. Why do you waste your time? Why don't you just preach to the elect?
He said, Brother, whenever you can go and check, mark them so I'll know who they are.
Then I'll confined my attention to them. But until you're in a position to do that, I'm going to preach to whosoever will.
You and I don't know who they are.
The gospel is goes out to all. God will have all men to be saved.
God will have all men to be saved. That's his will of desire.
But that's not his efficacious way on if he stopped with his will of desire only.
Nobody would be saying, but he goes beyond that, he says.
Somebody is going to be saying, Mr. Potter, put it this way.
All May.
None will some chatter. I like that.
If you're hearing a Mr. Closest answer to, I think it was an infidelity.
Tried to draw him into an argument and address Ontario even rather close and reaching on the street. So he followed him. He was he was known to get all the preachers into an argument.
So he tackled Brother close. Involved in what does that mean? No man can come on the father except the father Droid.
Turned around, he said. You better listen to that one that draws you.
Turn around left.
That was a tough for the constant, wasn't it? And any quiver that comes and asks, how can I know that I'm one of the electors, There's an answer for the conscience that can't be answered, They can't argue with that is.
You believe on Christ, and I can tell you definitely you are.
Now.
That puts it right back on their own conscience. Man's mind is finance. God is infinite. There's lots of things in the Bible beyond reason. There's nothing in the Bible contrary to reasons. Turn the First Corinthians, chapter 3.
Verse 20.
The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Empty.
The things of God are beyond.
Human reason.
And the wickedness of it is this.
It's practically saying.
Oh God, I've got as much intelligence as you have. Anything you put out I can understand.
That's wickedness.
That's the very principle of Satanic delusion, and that's coming upon this world.
And you'll never be a happy Christian.
Until you believe the word of God simply because God has spoken.
And you accept it. Thy word is truth.
Or how blessed, I said to a professor in the park in Walla Walla.
00:35:03
He was talking that way, I said. You'd put salvation on such a high shelf that only educated people to preach it. God is wiser than you are. He's put it on such a low shelf that a child can believe it.
And rejoice in it without understanding it.
I'm so turned to the 15th of Matthew.
The 18th of Matthew I should say.
And the third verse.
I'll read from the 2nd, 18th of Matthew verse 2.
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children.
And become as little children.
He shall not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.
What characterized the most striking man of God?
Is that he becomes a little child.
Listens to the voice of God, and in doing so, he listens to the voice of perfect wisdom.
And the most brilliant.
Child of God that ever lived.
Has to receive the word as a little child, rejoice in it as a little child, and when he comes to die.
He'll have to die as a little child, simply believing God.
Simply believing God, brethren, if the Lord doesn't come and you ever come to a deathbed.
Reason will never tell you of the glory that is to come.
As I've said, sometimes my father is gone, my mother's gone. Where are they?
Can reason tell me?
No, no, they, you say. Oh, they're with the Lord. How do you know? Where did you learn it? At school by a brilliant mind know. How do you know? God says so. Did you believe it?
It's a principle. I'd like to add this. It's a principle all through the Bible, but no flesh of glory in his presence.
Mother Anderson said faith cometh by appearing and hearing by the word of God.
In other words, you've heard the word of God, Believe it even if you don't understand it. When the Apostle Paul.
When Saul of Tarsus.
The bitter persecutor of the Church and of Christ, the man who was the chief of sinners.
That was no hyperbole. He was.
Because his enmity was definitely aimed at Christ.
God is going to have the satisfaction of having the greatest Sinner that ever lived is going to have him in heaven.
But when? When Saul was smitten down?
And blinded had to be led by the hand like a little child.
Went on to Damascus.
Who was it that came?
To enlighten him.
It wasn't the Apostle Peter.
There wasn't some man of high standing in the church.
Some great gift.
Just a simple a simple believer. Ananias.
God wasn't going to flatter Saul of Tarsus by sending the.
Great apostle Peter there.
He might have said well.
I'm not going to listen to you. You don't know who I am. I'm. I'm.
I'm a Pharisee, of the Pharisee, I said. Gamaliel's feet. I've got a background. You send me someone on my level to talk with me and I'll talk.
Well, he sent him just a humble disciple.
And to that man who's LED into peace with God.
I believe that was part of God's deliberate plan for the for solid cards to send that simple, humble man there.
Don't you, brother? That's something like.
When?
They're all accepted for first kings. When Naman came with his horses and his chariot and rolled up to the House of Elizabeth, he thought, I thought, surely the Prophet would come out and strike his hands over me and you're left. But he just had out his servant. He wouldn't even come out and deliver the message himself.
00:40:22
Told his heart to go out and go and tell him to dip himself in Jordan 7 times.
Well, there was another case A1 That had to come down to learn.
What it was to get the the blessing of God.
I hope we would get on to the 10th break. We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus on two good works. If God has before ordained that we should walk in this, I judge you to say that.
Even when it comes to the work of God and the believer after he has accepted the grace of God by faith, that is just as much the work of God of the work precedent or the fact that tells us that we are the working person.
Created in Christ Jesus.
So it's a new creation, and that creation is the work of God.
Everything is of God and all is grace.
And I think that we need to be reminded from time to time.
Of the work of the Spirit of God in US, and His grace working in us, even now as Christians, that all the praise may be to him.
I think that those who dwell chiefly on the work of Christ for us blessed it as it is.
Miss something of enjoying what God has done.
But I would like to add 1 word not to draw out this subject of election.
Let us ever remember, brethren, that there are people who have taken this blessed truth, and have twisted it and perverted it, and there is no such word in scriptures.
Anyone being predestinated to be lost or damned.
That's the imagination of man running away with it on the other side.
Not only no such word, but there's no such.
No such plan that anybody should be lost, no thought of it. God will have all men to be saved. That's his will of desire.
The man isn't saved, or you weren't saved because God didn't want you saved. God will have all men to be saved. Is that right by the court? Indeed it is. I was thinking of what you said before about election.
And Mr. close, He would preach to those that were checked as the elect. Well, really, the gospel preacher is preaching to the elect. He doesn't know where they are.
In Romans Chapter 9, perhaps you have a verse that ought to be cited.
In connection with this, Romans 922.
What if God willing to show his wrath and to make his power known?
Endured with much long-suffering, the vessels around fitted to destruction, I noticed the difference between that verse and the next one.
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he.
Had before prepared unto glory. It says nothing about that God fitted them to destruction. They fitted themselves for destruction. But when it comes to being prepared for glory, he is the one that does it.
There is a pamphlet over on the display counter, Arminianism versus Calvinism that goes into it.
If you're not clear on it, get the pampered.
Don't we have two illustrations about this and truth in Judas and in Peril?
They pardon their hearts first. Would that be the case? I think it's always so in Pharaohs case and before I'd ever says a word about God hardening Pharaoh's heart, it tells us three times over that he hardened his own heart.
00:45:02
So.
God took him at his word.
Then three times over, he didn't want any part of it, so God takes him in his word and hardens his heart.
Judas.
Before he was ever chosen.
As one of the 12.
Had already enrolled himself under the banner of Christ, professively.
In other words, the Lord didn't go out on the street and tap somebody on the shoulder and say you're elected to be Judas.
No, Judas was already a professed follower of the Lord Jesus.
Before ever he was chosen as one of the 12.
It's true, there had to be a Judas.
But Judas was glad to be a Judas.
And he was chosen, and he filled the part right straight through.
He sat under all that lovely ministry. He saw all those miracles, and what effect did it have on his poor, wicked heart?
He only heartened himself more and more and finally sold his Lord.
For 30 pieces of silver, the price of a common slave.
What verse have you for saying that Judas was one of the Lord's followers?
Six of blue turn to it.
Not questioning.
Luke 6 verse 13.
In the 12Th verse, the Lord is praying about this matter.
12Th verse came to pass in those days that he went on into the mountain to pray.
And continue to all night in prayer to God.
He has a very important mission on the next day.
And when it was day he called unto him his disciples.
And out of them he chose 12.
When he also named apostles.
And 16th verse Judas the brother of James and Judas is carried which also was the traitor.
And you'll notice all through the gospel.
When Judas is named.
When there's any possibility of any confusion about it?
The spirit of God is always careful to distinguish that it's the Judas that betrayed him he's talking about.
So here.
Even in the choice and Judas is carried, which also was the traitor. But he didn't choose him from the outside, he chose him from the inside circle, his disciples. Now look at John.
Give you two or three. Give you the passage. Just a moment.
In the second of John.
And the 23rd verse. Now when he was in Jerusalem, in the Passover and the feast day, many believed in his name when they saw all the miracles that he did.
But Jesus did not commit himself under them.
Because a new old man that needed not that any should testify. A man for he knew what was in man. That kind of a belief didn't count for anything.
Now in the is.
It it's the 6th chapter now.
The 6th chapter, the end of the chapter.
Well, we read from the 63rd verse of chapter 6.
It is the spirit capital S that quickeneth the place profiteth nothing. The words that I speak unto you, They are Spirit and their life.
But there are some of you that believe not.
Some of you that believe not.
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believe not, and who should betray him.
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me except it were given unto him of my Father.
From that time.
Many of his disciples disciples.
00:50:01
Went back and walked no more with him.
Then sent Jesus under the 12 but he also go away.
And Simon Peter had some said, Lord, to whom shall we go?
Thou hast the words of eternal life, and we believe and are sure that Thou art that Christ the Holy One of God.
Jesus answered, Have not I chosen you? 12 And one of you is a devil, not demon here, the devil.
He spake of Judas is carried the son of Simon.
For He it was that should betray being one of the 12. So because they were disciples and because they believed in Him, did not mean that they were saved.
That is, it was the same kind of belief that the devils have. The devils believe and tremble.
There are many people that believe the Bible. Say Why Sure, I believe every word of it and they're not saved. Isn't that right, brethren? Yes, but would you say a word on the difference between a disciple and an apostle?
I think there may be some young people here that don't realize there is a difference.
What do you tell us, brother Kohler?
Thank you.
A disciple is a learner.
In the Old Testament, times of the prophets had a little school of those who accompanied the topic and learned from him.
And from those learners, frequently the next prophet was chosen.
Well, an apostle is a delegate. He's been appointed to something. He's been given a certain authority and power. There are no apostles today.
But there may be is that many disciples?
Considered an apostle, Should have seen the Lord.
Yes.
But that was in connection with choosing the successor of Judas. Of course, the apostle Paul, that was different.
Well, but the Apostle Paul did see the Lord. Yes, yes, he says so. I have not. I've seen the Lord Jesus.
But there were 12 apostles.
That the Lord appointed and after Judas defection.
Deceased.
Another was appointed to take his place. Many have criticized what was done. The first of Acts is so as though they were premature and Paul should have been that one. But that's not so. I believe they were divinely inspired in that act and choosing A successor for Judas.
Successor had to be one who had followed along with the Lord in His ministry, and had seen all and heard all that the Lord did and said.
Those 12 have a special place and will have a special place, will they not?
There were others that were apostles beside the 12. Yes, Barnabas was an apostle.
And James, the Lord's brother, is so poking out, yes.
In fact, when you come to later in the Ephesians Speaking of the Church, it says some apostles. It doesn't say 12.
In connection with the Church.
And apostles and official prophets were connected with the foundation, with the foundation.
After the foundation is laid.
The prophets are of course New Testament prophets. Not Old Testament prophets, but New Testament prophets.
After the foundation is laid, you have no longer any need of prophets or apostles.
We still have prophecy, but that's a different thing from prophets.
My brother prophesying is a brother giving the mind of the Lord. In any scripture we still have that either prophesied, but prophets as such belong to the foundation days and we do not have them now.
So in the 4th of Ephesians.
We have those that remain now, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, and they're all here with us. And we have the Ascended Head in heaven to thank for their presence among us now, Brother Brown, at the Lord Real Point.
The 12 apostles, After he offended up on high, according to the boss of Ephesians that he had set it up on high, he gave some apostles some prophetess.
00:55:03
Pastors. Teachers without a reappointment.
I'm going to be prepared to answer that question, Brother Barry. Be glad for someone else to answer it.
It doesn't seem like, but in that way, his voice.
Spoke of how God would use them as such.
God would use them as such.
A thing as apostles now.
They are the foundation of the Church which have us in Ephesians 2.
Brother Barry isn't Ephesians 4.
Really. Marking out the source of all the gifts to the church?
Are not the time in which they were given.
I'm glad to get any help.
Getting into deep water, maybe we should get on something. That all here will follow. More well in Ephesians 2.
In Ephesians 2, if they care to go on down to the end of the chapter for a moment.
And are built upon the 20th verse.
Are built upon. Let's read the 19th verse now. Therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners.
But fellow citizens with the Saints and of the household of God.
And to build upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief turn of stone. Now notice it does not say you're built upon the foundation of the prophets and apostles.
If it said that, we might think, well, he's talking about the Old Testament prophets.
But apostles is given first are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Now look at Acts 13, the first verse.
Acts 13 one.
And he offers the Gentile Center.
The church is characteristically.
Now I say characteristically.
A gentile testimony, characteristically I say.
Antioch was the gentile center.
And there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets, prophets.
And teachers Barnabas, Simeon, Lucius.
And so, so they had prophets in those days, but they were connected with the foundation days.
Now when the foundation is laid, we have no longer need of apostles or prophets, but we still have evangelists, pastors and teachers. Don't you think that perhaps why in the odd chapter of Jesus you get the apostles being?
Given by an ascended Christ.
Is completely distinguished between what preceded for all what comes after the cross, after the Holy Spirit is given and the Church of God is formed. Is connected now with a glorified Christ and not a Christ down here giving a special.
Visitation or a blessing to Israel?
For everything now in connection with ministry is connected with an ascended glorified Christ when he ascended up on time. And now all ministry comes through that forces and say Brother Core, and we have the ministry of the apostles and the epistles heavenly. So we while we had an apostles we have their ministry and it comes from an ascended glorified Christ.
And would that be the reason why he told them to remain in Jerusalem until they be endued with power from an eye? He had to go out and up first before they had that power.
Well, that would be the spirit of God, wouldn't it?
Power from on high. Did they go outside apostles before that? Well, they were. They were apostles before the cross.
But they didn't go out, so apparently he told them to remain in Jerusalem and that's what they did.
01:00:05
And our brother Potter used to say the Lord.
He asked them to go out from Jerusalem and he said they didn't do it. He said that for instance there at the persecution of Steven.
Why all?
Fled from the persecution from Jerusalem, except the apostles.
He says the Lord chose a new servant to go out and fulfill that ministry, and he chose a new center, and that was Antioch. And so we have then in the Acts is taking up up Antioch, and that's the center from which they go out and which they come back.
Well, of course it's well to remember that when these things took place.
It was a transitionary state.
The believing remnant of the Jews was being carried over into the church from.
Judaism.
Had a new thing was being instituted completely.
You'll give us some help from being his workmanship? What is before for the very man I have just pardoned me, Brother. Just a moment, will you pardon me?
Did not God have a purpose in keeping the 12 apostles in Jerusalem? Now look at the 15th chapter back.
This is a very, very crucial time.
In the Church's history.
The question is up for discussion as to whether or not the Gentile is to be brought under the regulations of Judaism, whether he's to be made subject in some measure to the requirements of the law.
Circumcision was one of those requirements.
Now the the matter had come to a crisis at Antioch.
Peter at that moment himself.
Wasn't too clear.
But.
The the the question is brought up to Jerusalem.
They want to settle it once and for all and they want to settle it in a peaceable way.
So in the second verse, when therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain other of them should go up to Jerusalem under the apostles and elders about this question.
Now one's thought is that in the 70 of God the apostles were kept there until this matter was clarified.
So they they go into the discussion very thoroughly.
And.
It's thrashed out fourth verse. When they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church and of the apostles and elders.
Then in the 12Th verse, then all the multitude kept silence and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had brought among the Gentiles among them.
13th verse And after they had held their peace, James. Now this is James, the son of Alpheus, I believe.
Answered Men and brethren, hearken unto me, Simeon, There's Peter that declared so on.
And 19th verse my sentence is that we trouble not them from among the Gentiles that are turned to God.
But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols and fornication, and things strangled and from blood.
Now 20 second verse.
Then it pleased the apostles and elders with the whole church to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch.
And so on. And they wrote the letters. Now that was a very important decision and it had full Apostolic authority behind it. I believe that was God's over ruling reason for keeping the apostles in Jerusalem when all the others were scattered approach.
01:05:00
Would it would it not broke the ground, have tended to division in the church and to set up a Gentile church at Antioch and a Jewish flavored church in Jerusalem if it hadn't been settled in Jerusalem? Exactly. That's the point. That's the point. And being settled in Jerusalem, not Brother Barry. Well, I'm just going to say and I don't doubt it was the over ruling hand of God.
And again, our brother Potter used to say the government of God was a wheel within a wheel. That is, you couldn't pin it down to just one thing. He had more than one purpose in view.
They may have failed in not going out of Jerusalem, but God overruled, at any rate had them there for that decision.
There were other things also.
I believe that the apostles.
Were the nucleus of the Church.
The you might call them the heart of the Church. So in the 8th chapter, when the Samaritans were.
Were exercised, they must be connected with those in Jerusalem.
In the 10th chapter, when the Gentiles are brought under exercise in Cornelius, they must also be connected with Jerusalem. In other words, there was a center and God was guarding that center.
They were not just gathered any place where there happened to be.
Or where they chose to be? Would you not say, Brother Kohler, that after the 15th chapter of Acts that you no longer see Jerusalem functioning as the center? Yes, I believe that God gave them up.
And I I think it's nothing short of a miracle.
That they weren't scattered in that persecution that broke out because.
If the enemy is going to persecute.
He starts with the leaders, He starts at the top. It's always the leaders at the end of his after. And here they were all scattered abroad. They had to flee for their lives, except the apostles. How could that be?
The over ruling hand of God that protected them because he had useful.
Another point right there. It knocks on the heads of the thought of Apostolic succession. They went out and preached the gospel without being ordained of the apostles.
Yes, and they when you get it, as soon as the persecution that scattered the rest of them, they went out preaching everywhere, didn't they? But they were ordained by the apostles. Never was intended they should.
I've never met an argument.
That was anti scriptural, that you didn't have scripture to set them right if they were subject to scripture.
For God has thought of every infidel suggestion that comes to man's mind.
And there's the wisdom of God to me. So I've often said to people about.
That the necessity of Apostolic succession to preach.
But these went out to preach without any Apostolic succession.
Didn't have authority from but they preached and God owned their preaching and they were blessed.
Possible Didn't have it.
I said the Apostle Paul didn't have it exactly. Well, I'll ask him another question connecting to what you've been talking about.
Take the end of Luke.
The last chapter in the 50th verse.
And he met them out as far as to Bethany. And he lifted up his hands, and blessed and came to pass. While he blessed them, he was brought it from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Why is that in Luke? You don't find it in John. They can walk immediately. But here in Luke, Bethany has two meanings and the House of dates and the House of affliction. But they returned to Jerusalem with great joy and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
Why is that found in Luke and not in John Telephone?
Well, is this the reason?
Luke really wrote the book of the accident.
Will Israel was not set aside.
01:10:01
In the until the apostles went and they preached the gospel, and wherever they went they sought out the the Jews and gave the Jews the gospel. Everywhere they went the first opposers of the truth were the Jews.
It isn't until you come to the end of the book of the Acts.
That the Jews are set aside nationally as the people of God.
Our grace goes out to the Gentile.
And what our brother Brown said was right that characteristically, this is the day of Gentile blessing.
But Luke, who wrote the book of the Acts, they were continually in the temple.
The temple and that centered Jerusalem wasn't given up.
Until.
The gospel was refused by the nation.
Let me give an illustration here in the United States. Certain thing is put before you in Washington.
It's refused.
But the outline sections believe Hawaii is part of the United States Now isn't, unless I'm wrong.
When the Hawaiians might say, well wouldn't put before us, we didn't have a chance, we would have accepted it. And so in the book of the Acts, Paul goes around to all the different cities and he seeks out the Jews 1St and gives them the gospel.
And in every place he goes, the Jews refuse it. That's the long-suffering patience of God, and that's why it's different at the end of Luke and is the end of John.
Turn to the end of John and you'll see.
The 20th chapter in the 19th verse.
Then the same day at evening being the first day of the week, you don't get that loop.
But John gives you a new beginning.
First day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews.
Always a rejected company, in a rejected place the doors are shut for fear of the Jews, came Jesus, and stood in the midst, and said unto them, Peace be unto you.
Oh, that's what is particular in John's ministry. My peace, I leave with you.
Peace.
Because it's John gives you the coming apostasy and the awful judgments of the earth.
This isn't the peace that you get by believing the gospel.
Although you must have that too, but it's the peace that you have in the sense that the one that is crucified has gone up on high.
When all things are delivered into his hands, for John wrote the Book of Revelation then.
He said unto them, Then.
When he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Why did it tell you that?
What is it? You know the the blood from his hands didn't put away sin, so the blood from his side. Why does he mention the hands first?
The hands on the side.
Told us.
Why? Because the whole character of things were gathered around or rejected. Christ, those piercing hands tell of his rejection. The blood from his side tells of atonement.
Which are gathered now around the rejected Christ, and the world in which you live is coming under judgment.
The disciples would laugh when they saw the Lord then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you, as my Father has sent me.
Even so, send I you. I mean John's Gospel ascending as you get in John 316.
God so loved the world.
Jew and Gentile, Now we send you forth with the Gospel, and and you're to go through all the world. And as we remarked yesterday, John.
Dozens people.
So much of the forgiveness of sins till you come to the Epistle, and there's the question of communion.
It's new life.
Now I'll ask another question.
Whereas you must be born again. You could imagine John. But John, why isn't it imagine?
Why isn't it in Mark?
When did it look? Why do you have to get over to John's Gospel to find?
01:15:05
Drugs. It's not till you come to John's Gospel.
But you find the whole world June Gentiles set aside.
No fruit for God. And so if John closes his ministry in Revelation by saying, Behold, I make all things.
New and If you're a believer, you're a new creature in Christ Jesus.
John's ministry closes the testimony of God to the whole Adam race.
The judgment is.
Coming. And if you're a believer, you're belong to a new creation.
You know you never get New birth spoken of in the Old Testament.
Until you get prophetically Christ rejected.
Where's the first time in the New on the Old Testament you get in the New birth? Ezekiel. Yes, Ezekiel.
It's prophetic to the fact that in the millennial day when they're brought into blessing.
Will be born again.
A new creation?
When does Paul say in me? In my flesh Dwelleth no good thing Was it before he was saved?
Was it was after?
Is that important, brother?
Does that link up with our tenth verse here created in Christ Jesus?
Unto good work, I believe we interrupted our brother Barry. He had something to bring before us.
I was trying to get Brother Wilson to comment from part of his meant by his workmanship. On his workmanship, I would like to hear what you have to say. Well, really I.
Had something else in mind. I wanted to get on the chapter. Well, I took that way. How about starting?
Well, it might be helpful to the young people to understand what that word means.
Zip or she went to an affair.
Where all kinds of foods are displayed. Used to have countries fairly normally the women would bring their ties to me.
Quite an event or what cake was selected.
Was it some horror?
Piece of.
Workmanship. I know they always selected the best, the best of everything.
Well, when the Spirit of God takes the balance, believers being his workmanship.
Simply means it's the very best.
That God himself has produced or accomplished.
You see, we're considering the, the the new creation.
And created in Christ Jesus.
Well, that subject is a marvelous subject.
It began when Christ rose again from the dead. It became the head of that new creation.
Name speaks of our being the first fruits of that new creation. Someday that creation will fill the whole universe.
Or it will be the display of God, of the glory of Christ and redemption.
Well, the precious thing for us to enjoy at this time.
Is to think that for sinners like you and me are the first fruits of that new creation.
And that the Spirit of God has told us.
That we're His workmanship, the most glorious work that will be displayed through eternity in connection with our new creation, our sinners saved by great this present time.
That are brought into the blessings of heaven, raised up, and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That's our position now. God looks upon us now as His workmanship and again as it has been mentioned before.
That it's all the work of God. It's his workmanship.
And we're created in Christ Jesus.
Nothing of ourselves. If there's any work that we ever accomplished or our Blessed Lord, we can't take any credit for it because it's the work that He has brought out in our lives so that it's His work.
01:20:17
That is.
What has been accomplished?
And it's until good works well, there's good works coming in their proper place. Because before we've been told that we're saved by grace or faith in that it's not a work. That's when it's a question of salvation.
We did nothing to.
To merit or to in any way add to that salvation, but after we're saved by then we get the proper place.
Or good work and the life of a child.
But we need to remember this.
Where our attention is called to it in the passage.
That these works spoken of his good works.
Were which God has before.
Notice that before ordained that we should walk in them. So if we're used of God to accomplish any work for God.
It's something that God had previously planned.
Planned in his counsels to be carried out for his glory.
All the important thing, then, is to walk in such humility and nearness to our blessed Lord, that we will be permitted to carry out some of the Council with God, in His wondrous wisdom have foreordained for His people.
Are they the same good works we're told off in tightness we're zealous on?
Peculiar people. Zealous. Yeah, they're the same ones that we're told that we're both upon. Another unto in Hebrews, yeah, but all it takes in all at every work. Good work.
Well, this portion that you're speaking about.
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
That's man's natural works is what he seeks to do.
But in contrast to that, God has given us a new life and everything goes with it. All things are pertained to godliness.
And.
Everything about the Christian is the product of God's own work. I was thinking of what you have in 2nd Corinthians 5, where he speaks about the new body that we're to have.
The Tabernacle from God.
Not made with hands. And he says, he that hath wrought you for the self, same thing is God.
With God's purpose, would you say these good works mentioned here that are mean these works not of works. That's the same that that are spoken of in Hebrews as dead works.
Cleanse your conscience from dead works, isn't it?
That would be religious works, wouldn't it? Yeah, but it's it's works for getting God's approval, is it not? Oh yes, isn't it? Contrast with faith in the 8th, 1St save through faith. Lot of works.
Aren't they dead works because they're produced by a dead man, dead in trespasses and sin.
A man out of touch entirely with God.
Yes, I believe so.
The Jews were very religious people, but they were going on. They were ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness. And so their works are looked upon in Hebrews as dead works.
But because they're formed and ceremony.
That's all it amounted to.
Cain Cain's offering.
May have been very beautiful.
But it was wicked.
It was wickedness before God to approach God on that basis.
Wherefore slew his brother, because his own works for evil. Evil works.
What? Carefully selecting the best fruit and offering it to God, yes.
Is that the difference that has been mentioned in Hebrews? It is religious works that are now dead works because Christ has accomplished the work of God.
01:25:10
That has so glorified him.
That we have entrance into the holiest just for one moment. Turn to Hebrews 13 for the whole epistle.
The whole epistle of the Hebrews divided right there at the 10th chapter of Hebrews.
Every part of every previous chapter.
Ends.
Hebrews 10/18.
Now we're an admission of these is there is no more offering for sin.
That's what he's been unfolding now. Look, there's a change right there, having therefore brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.
Going on with Judaism after that. Was going on with Deadworks.
Whatever they What is the nature of the works in First Corinthians 3?
1St Corinthians 3.
Verse 15.
If any man.
Work shall prefer.
Will in First Corinthians 3. He's delivering for the Lord. I find people get things much better by illusion.
I've been in Philadelphia many times.
And I used to walk.
Posters and my letters to the post office.
Passed a beautiful church building.
Was erected by the faithful parishioners of this parish to the glory of God.
Well, that's the First Corinthians that you speak of. That is, they thought they were doing well to put up that building.
With all its religious ceremony and they came together and they took the sacrament and they had their meetings in that building.
But now turn to 1St Corinthians 3 that we get it, and verse 14 If any man work abide which he has built thereupon he shall receive her award. Well, are they going to be rewarded for putting up that church building in Philadelphia?
The mind of God at all.
The point in First Corinthians 3 is that if you're not building on false foundation, then all your labor will be burned up in the coming days.
You may labor ever so earnestly, but you must build on Paul's foundation, and what is of God will abide and be rewarded.
What is not of God will not be rewarded, but burned up in truth as of no value in God's sake. But credit will be given for the motive that was in back of it, won't that? Yes. But that's not. That's a different thing. Yeah, that's a different thing. What you say is right, but.
The actual building the they put those bricks there and worked. I expect there didn't be any paper.
Credit will be given for the motive if they were God's children.
Well, of course, I'm supposing it's God's children, and that is for the Lord. They're doing it.
And maybe all wrong though in First Corinthians 3.
It's there, is it not? There's been a profession of faith in the name of the Lord.
And there's works there. They've done. Some of it may be real, some may not be.
What we are talking about here in Ephesians is more in connection with working to be saved. That's right, that's right. And Des Moines, I was told first hand the other day.
Man said he was on a committee to get new members to build their new church. They were going to build a new church and they needed a lot of money and they were getting new members.
I said, are you getting any members? He said yes.
I said, are they saved? Oh, I said. We don't bother about that.
Said. We'll get them in the church and then we'll get them saved after that.
Well, now, regardless of how much any of those new members give to erect that new church building.
They'll never get one little bit of credit for it, motive or no motive.
Be nothing for them.
There's also a verse in Second Timothy 2 if a man strive for masteries yet is he not crowned except he strive law.
01:30:06
We will not get a reward for going contrary to the word of God.
Well, there may be a certain measure in which we think we're serving God, and God can credit the motive. If it's a child of God, yes, but still, that verse rings out so strong.
Yet as a man not crowned except he strive long, we can't break the rules and get a reward for winning the race.
No Make a difference between salvation and reward.
Everyone was saved and really by faith trusts in the person and work of the Lord Jesus. Reward is another thing.
And if we're going to be rewarded, we must.
Do what we do in obedience to the work everything else.
Will be unrewarded, somebody says well, but God is using these meat using these means or blessing these means in Christendom.
God is sovereign and can bless any means he chooses, but we're subject and to do what we're told.
We have our sister in our meeting in Des Moines that was converted in a Mormon revival meeting.
What? She was converted in a Mormon revival meeting, but it wasn't anything that the preacher said that saved her. It was the Bible that he read. She had a Catholic background. She wasn't used to hearing the word, and she heard the word read, and the spirit of God used the word that was read. And she got her soul same. She never.
She never joined the Mormon Church.
It was in a tent meeting.
A Mormon, A Mormon tent meeting but hearing the Bible. But she wasn't accustomed to hear she believed the word and was saved. The reason I asked what was of all the coats? I think Mormonism is the worst.
Well.
Maybe some of us might not agree with you on that.
Well, in cats they I don't know that you can find anything worse.
Personally, my own, others, Just my persuasion. You have as good a right here as I have to mine, I believe, the most wicked.
Perversion of the gospel on the face of the earth today is the Jehovah Witnesses, because the first statement they make is Jesus is not God. That's that's their foundation stone.
Well, God is only a man in Mormonism.
Everybody sing hymn #61.
How wondrous the glories that meet in Jesus and from his face shine.
His love is eternal and sweet. Tis human tis also divine #61.

General Meetings Wheaton, August 1961. Gospel by CD Anderson.
14th chapter of Luke's Gospel.
Luke's Gospel, chapter 14.
Starting with verse 7.
And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden.
When he marked how they chose out the chief rooms, saying unto them, When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him.
And he that bad thee and him.
Come and say to thee, give this man place, and I'll begin with a shame to take the lowest room, But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room.
That when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher, then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meet with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself.
Shall be exalted.
Then said he also to him that bad him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors, lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee, but when thou makest the feast.
Call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.
And thou shalt be blessed, for they cannot recompense thee, for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
And when one of them that sat at meet with him heard these things, he said unto him.
Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the Kingdom of God.
Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bad many.
And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden come.
For all things are now ready, and they all, with one consent, began to make excuse.
The first said unto him, I bought a piece of ground, and I must need to go and see it. I pray thee, have me excused.
And another said I have bought 5 yoke of oxen and I go to prove them. I pray thee have me excused.
And another said I've married a wife and therefore I cannot come.
So that servant came and showed his Lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, who are quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring him hit her the poor and the maimed, and the hawk and the blind.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou has commanded, and yet there is room.
And the Lord said unto the servant.
Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in that my house may be filled.
For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Well, there must be a very good reason.
Why we have such a word as this in this chapter?
00:05:02
I want to speak about this supper.
And Lord willing, I want to mention three other suppers tonight.
But this supper is a very important supper.
It's called a great supper.
It's the Supper of Salvation.
Says a certain man made a great supper.
Great preparations.
Have taken place.
Much work has gone into preparing this supper.
Oh, it's a great supper because the work and preparing it is great.
And then it's a great supper because the person that has prepared it is great.
The person is great and the work is great, and that makes it a great supper.
Now the one who has prepared the Supper is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ.
God himself has prepared the supper of salvation.
And all lot of work that was to prepare that supper.
I believe we see the heart of the One.
Manifested here in the 13th verse.
It says, But when thou makest the feast, call the poor the maim.
The lame, the blind.
As the Blessed Lord himself saying that.
He's displaying his own heart when he says that.
And that shows his heart toward poor, lost, guilty, helpless sinners.
What could these poor do for themselves?
What can the name do for themselves and the lame and the blind?
All their in a wretched condition. They're in a helpless condition, They're in a very needy condition.
And the Blessed Lord says, if you're going to make a feast for anyone.
Invite that kind of people, but the Lord was just telling out his own heart.
That's exactly what God has done. God has provided a supper, a feast for poor, helpless sinners.
Some of.
Have tasted of that feast.
We've already partaken of that supper and it's a wonderful supper.
The supper of salvation. It's a precious thing to know our sins forgiven.
It's a wonderful thing to have eternal life.
It's a great thing to have a perfect standing before God.
Oh, what a salvation God has provided.
What about you?
Have you tasted of this great supper?
Have you tasted the preciousness of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Because you know you can't separate salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation is not something that you get apart from the Blessed Law.
Do you know what it is to have the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior?
Is he precious to you? Well, I know he is precious to many of you here tonight.
But there are some of you who haven't tasted the preciousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You haven't tasted this supper, and God is just waiting.
For you to taste of that supper, he's already bidden you. He's already told you to come.
Because we read here.
In the 17th verse.
That the servant was sent out at supper time to say to them that were bidden come.
It's supper time now.
And the word has gone out.
The invitation has gone out and says come.
Come, come, all ye that are that labor and are heavy laden, he says. And I will give you rest.
00:10:03
Him that cometh unto me, I will in no wise cast out.
All, many times in the Word of God we have that invitation.
Come.
God wants you to come.
The characteristic of man that a sin is that he's running away from God.
Hiding from God, Adam in the Garden of Eden had sinned, and then he hid from God.
Hid away from God.
But ever since man's sin, God has been inviting him to come.
Come back. Oh yes, God was walking in the garden that day.
And he was seeking.
God wanted Adam near himself, but Adam was running away.
God wants you tonight. God wants you near himself, but you're running away.
You're going in the other direction. You're hiding from God.
All we like sheep have gone astray. We've turned everyone.
To his own way, yes, that's true of us. Can you say that about yourself? That you've gone astray? You've run away from God?
All that you might see that tonight, that God's word is true. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. There's none righteous, no, not one.
That your condition tonight?
God sees you that way, and God has told you your condition.
Oh, it's so important that you believe this word tonight. This is the word of God.
God himself speaking to you tonight.
And the word of God to you about yourself is that you are a Sinner.
A lost Sinner.
A guilty Sinner.
A Sinner dead in trespasses and sins. And you need this great supper. You need the forgiveness of your sins. You need eternal life.
And if you're still in your sin or you're in an awful condition.
You're lost. You're guilty.
And you're on your way to a lost eternity.
God says, the soul that sinneth it shall die.
The soul that sinneth it shall die.
And you have sinned, and you're dead in your sin. But there's hope for you tonight.
God says, Come, I want you to be saved.
I want you to taste this great supper.
That I've provided for you.
Well, now let's think about the person.
That provided this supper.
The Lord Jesus Christ himself.
Who is?
Well, the Lord Jesus Christ is God.
And we find in scripture that He's the creator of this vast universe.
And we might think about the universe that he has created.
To get a glimpse of his greatness.
Over in Harvard University.
In the science department.
They had determined that there were a certain amount of galaxies of stars in the heavens.
In the Northern hemisphere.
They judged that they could see about.
1 billion galaxies of stars.
A Galaxy.
Is like the Milky Way, the Milky Way that we see?
With our naked eye.
Is a Galaxy.
They said.
There are about 1 billion of them in the Northern hemisphere that can be seen.
In the Northern hemisphere.
We judge there must be about that number that can be seen in the southern hemisphere, which would make about 2 billion.
But we estimate that we can see only 1%.
Of the stars of all the galaxies in the heaven.
00:15:02
We estimate that there must be at least 200 billion galaxies Milky Way in the universe.
Who made the mall?
This person that we're reading about tonight that provided this great supper.
That person. That great person. The Creator. This universe.
Who has made so many galaxies of stars that there are about 100?
For every person living in the world.
That's my savior.
That's the person.
That's providing this great supper.
He is the one.
That has done that great work.
He is the one that said on Calvary's cross.
It is finished.
What is finished? The work of redemption.
We see that one going up, calories few.
Bearing his cross.
And when he gets to Calvary's view.
They take him and they put him on that cross.
They drive the nails through his hands. They drive the nails through his feet.
That blessed Creator.
Who has created all of his vast universe?
A few of his creatures.
Taken manhandling physically take hold of him and nail him to that cross.
And there he hangs.
Between heaven and earth.
And there he suffers.
And there he lays down his life.
And before he lays down his life, he says, My God, my God.
Why hast thou forsaken me?
Can you answer that question?
Can you answer that question tonight?
He says. Why is thou forsaken me?
Do you know why?
I died for you. He died for sinners.
He died for sinners.
He bore our sins and his own body on the tree.
God demanded that the sin question must be settled. God is a holy God.
And the penalty for sin must be paid and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Submitted to paying that penalty, he went to Calvary's cross, and they laid down his life for sinners. Christ died for the ungodly.
Christ died for the ungodly.
Or it was judgment.
The judgment of God against sin.
That caused the death of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And there he lays down his life.
But even before that he says it is finished and then the word says.
He gave up the ghost.
He voluntarily laid down his life.
And then a soldier with a spear pierced his side, and out came the blood in the water.
And that's why we read in another place the blood of Jesus Christ.
God Son cleanses from all sin.
The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth from all sin.
If you would take the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior tonight.
Your sins will be all washed away.
God wants to forgive your sin.
God wants you to be washed from your sin.
And if you would take that blessed person who has done that wonderful work as your own savior?
You would have your sins forgiven, all washed away, and you would receive eternal life.
And you would become a child of God.
Because as many as received him to them, he gave the power to become the children of God, even to them that leave on his name.
00:20:05
Or you can't separate the work of Christ from the person of Christ.
To get the benefit of the work of Christ, you must accept the person of Christ.
And you must make the Lord Jesus Christ your personal Savior.
Oh yes, salvation is a person.
And when you receive Christ as your Savior.
You have partaken of this great supper.
We see the.
Over in the 15th chapter, partaking of the Supper the prodigal son, he comes home. He owns himself a Sinner. He sinned against heaven. He sinned against his father.
And he owns his unworthiness.
But what does the father do?
The father runs out to meet him, falls on his neck and kisses him.
Puts on him the best robe, the shoes, the ring, and he's brought into the father's house.
And the feast begins.
The moment.
You come home.
The moment you answer to the invitation to come.
Or the Prodigal Cave.
He came home.
And what did he find? He found a feast. The moment you answer that invitation to come come to the Lord Jesus Christ and receive him as your Savior, you will find a feast too.
That's when the feast begins, it says. And they began to be married. That's the beginning of joy. Up until now, you've been unhappy, you've been sad, you've been confused, you've been upset, disturbed. You had no peace, no joy, no happiness.
Tonight.
Can be the beginning of merriment for you.
If you will take the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and partake of this great supper.
It says many were bidden.
God is bidding you tonight, God has said come.
He's saying come to you. It's supper time. Yes, it's supper time right now. It's still the day of grace.
And God is still giving.
Precious salvation.
To anyone who will have it, whosoever will may come.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
But we notice here that.
They begin to make excuse.
At first said I've bought a piece of ground.
Harmless needs to go and see.
A piece of ground.
Well, that's a piece of this earth.
This man was so occupied with this earth that he didn't have time.
To partake of the great supplement, is that your case tonight?
Are you so taken up with Earth?
Are you so earthbound?
That you say, oh, I wouldn't like to leave this world, I'd like to stay here. Is that what keeps you from coming to the Lord Jesus Christ?
Accepting him as your savior, Is that what keeps you from the Great Supper? Is that your excuse?
Oh, I'm too busy with the things of Earth.
Then another one said I've bought 5 yoke of oxen and I go to prove them. I pray thee have me excused.
5 yoke of oxen.
Well, it was something to be proud of in that day, no doubt.
It was something to have one yoke of oxen, but this man had five of them, five yokes. There was lots of power there, a lot of energy when it came to pulling a load. You could pull a great load when it came to plowing a field. He could do a lot of work in a day.
No doubt he was proud of that five yoke team. Proud, Proud.
His pride tonight that's keeping you from this great supper.
00:25:04
Or you say, Well, that's too simple for me.
There, it's too great a humiliation for me.
To take my place as a poor lost Sinner and own that I'm guilty before God or I just couldn't do that.
Why? I'm a pretty good fellow. I'm a good boy.
I thought I was a nice girl.
And I thought I'd get to heaven some way on my own.
I didn't think I needed to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior.
Why do you think like that?
Perhaps you don't say it out loud, but you're saying it in your heart.
Its pride?
You have something there that you're proud of.
But how can you be proud of yourself and what you have done when God says all of your righteousnesses are as filthy rags?
Whatever goodness that you might be able to point to in yourself, God says it's filthy rags.
There is none righteous, no, not one. All. You have nothing to be proud of tonight.
Perhaps.
You have some of this world's goods.
Just like this man. And you're proud of them and you're occupied with it.
And you're finding your satisfaction in that?
And that's your excuse for not taking the great supper.
But you're not happy.
It doesn't make any difference how much you might have of the things of this world.
They'll never make you happy. Happiness is not to be found in the things of this world.
But happiness is to be found in obeying the word of God and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's where happiness is to be found.
And another one said I've married a wife and therefore I cannot come.
This man allowed an earthly relationship to stand between him and the Supper.
Is that what stands between you and becoming a child of God?
Is that what is that? What's in the way tonight so that you don't feel free to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior?
There's attachment to friends.
There's attachment to relatives and you're putting them first before the Lord Jesus Christ.
Well, those friends of yours.
And those relatives of yours?
Cannot help you.
When it comes to your eternal death, eternal destiny.
Can they help you?
Can they see you cross on the other side?
No, they can't help you one bit.
Perhaps they're telling you tonight, oh, don't get concerned about your sins. Don't get concerned about salvation.
Don't get concerned about what that man is talking about. There's no hurry.
I remember.
My mother telling me that when she was in sole trouble about her sins.
She went to the minister.
And asked him what to do.
He said. I'm troubled about my sins. I'm worried about eternity. What shall I do?
All the minister said, don't worry about that.
You're a good girl. You haven't done anything really bad.
You are all right. You will be alright.
Ah, they are friends of ours, perhaps relatives.
That would tell us the very same thing all everything is all right, you don't have to worry about.
Those things you don't have to worry about. Sin, sin, question. You're all right.
Are we going to let our friends and relatives stand in our way of taking the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior?
Because you know what's at the end of a sinner's life? A Christ was life.
Eternity in the lake of fire.
00:30:01
Is at the end of a Christless life.
And if you don't have the Lord Jesus Christ, you can't be saved.
Because the Lord Jesus was telling some that they should die in their sins.
And if they died in their sins, He says, Whether I go, ye cannot come.
And if you die in your sins tonight?
You can't go where the Lord Jesus Christ is. There is no hope for you.
So that servant came and showed his Lord these things.
I ask. The Lord knows all about it. He knows what you're doing tonight with the message of the gospel. The Lord knows your attitude toward him. He reads your heart. He knows how you feel about him.
Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, walk quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hit of the poor and the maimed and the hog and the blind.
All those who make excuse.
They're going to lose out. They won't be in the Father's house. They won't be in heaven. Don't make excuses tonight. This is not the time for making excuses. This is the time for being serious.
Closing in with God's offer of mercy.
And taking the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior.
Because God is intent on one thing, that his house is going to be filled.
And there is going to be merriment, great joy there in the coming day.
And he wants you there. But if you won't have this great supper.
If you make your excuses, you will be left outside.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done, thou hast commanded.
And yet, there's room.
And the Lord said unto the servant, go out into the highways and hedges, and compelled them to come in, that my house may be filled. That's why we have a gospel meeting tonight, that you might be compelled to come in.
Man was driven out of paradise.
But God has provided salvation.
So that man can be brought into the place of blessing.
Again.
Oh, thank God for that, that he's made away, whereby the man that was driven out can be brought in again.
But isn't it sad?
That man doesn't want to come in again.
So we have to have a gospel meeting tonight and preach the gospel that you might hear it and that it might be impressed upon you.
How God loves you.
And that you have need of salvation, that you are a Sinner and you need Christ.
And the Spirit of God is speaking to your heart tonight.
You read in the 24th chapter of Genesis how the servant ran to meet Rebecca.
The Holy Spirit of God tonight.
Is meeting you. He's speaking to your heart.
Are you going to respond to him or I? Well, remember when the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart using the word of God.
And the verse that was especially impressed upon me by the Spirit of God was this.
In Jeremiah 8 and 20, the harvest is past.
The summer has ended.
And we're not saved.
All that went home to my heart like an arrow, and it was the spirit of God that drove it home.
And made me to see that I was lost, unsaved.
And oh, what a precarious position I was in. The harvest ended.
Harvest passed in the summer ended and I wasn't saved.
Are you saved tonight?
This is the third Gospel meeting of this series of meetings.
You have heard the gospel preached twice already.
00:35:00
This is the third time.
Are you saved yet?
Well, if the Lord carries, these meetings will be over.
Passed Ended.
Is it going to be said of you that you're still not saved?
Oh, don't let that be said of you.
No closing was God's offer of mercy tonight. Get saved tonight. Don't wait another night.
Because the gospel may not be preached again.
The Lord Jesus Christ may come tonight.
And take us all home.
To the father's house.
But the Spirit of God is speaking to you tonight. But the Word says, My spirit shall not always strive with man.
Yes, God is long-suffering, not willing that any should perish, and the day of grace has been lengthened out.
Nearly 2000 years now.
But don't be ignorant of this one thing.
That as judgment came already upon this world in the Flood, judgment is coming again.
Yes, it's coming again.
So be ready.
Come now and partake of the Supper.
What about these who had been bidden and made excuses and wouldn't have the supper?
For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Oh, what a sad note.
For all eternity they will not taste of that supper. They'll know nothing about the salvation of God.
They'll be in the lake of fire.
And they'll not be tasting the great supper, but they'll be tasting the bitterness and pangs.
And pain of judgment.
Which do you want tonight?
Well, let us look at another supper.
As the Supper mentioned over in First Corinthians Chapter 11.
This is.
What is called in the Word of God, the Lord's Supper?
Now if you have taken the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior.
You have tasted of this great supper, and you really belong to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Why it's your privilege to partake of this other supper.
Of the Lord's.
Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior?
Have you partaken of the Supper of Salvation?
Can you say I know whom I have believed, and I'm persuaded that he's able to keep that which I've committed unto him against that day?
Can you say I know I'm saved?
Well, if you're really safe.
Then it is your privilege to partake of this supper the supper of remembrance.
For supper of Thanksgiving.
When we are gathered around the Lord Jesus Christ.
To remember him in his death.
Ah, the one who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior knows that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the 3rd day according to the scripture. The one who can say Jesus bore my sins in his own body on the tree, or you'll find a great joy in partaking of this supper because it gives him the opportunity to express the the praise and Thanksgiving that's in his heart.
To the one who loved us and gave himself for us.
Well, maybe there are some here tonight.
That haven't tasted of this supper.
But if you're really the Lords and walking with him in obedience to His word, why it's your privilege to partake of this supper and rejoice with all the rest of us who know the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior. But we'll turn on over to another supper.
Over in Revelation chapter 19.
00:40:04
We have read about the Supper of Salvation.
And the supper of remembrance.
1St Corinthians 11.
Verse 23 and now we'll read about.
They supper of joy.
Verse seven of Revelation 19 Let us be glad and rejoice.
And give honor to him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, For the fine linen is the righteousness of Saints. And he saith unto me, Right, blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the land.
And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
The Marriage, Supper of the Lamb, the supper of Joy.
And it speaks of those who are going to be there.
Are you going to be there?
Well, this supper might take place very shortly.
Because as soon as the Christians are caught up to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air to be with him shortly, that supper will take place.
And the Lord Jesus Christ may come at any moment.
A shout may be heard and will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
And so shall we ever be with the Lord.
If you're ready for that.
While you be there at this supper, the supper of joy.
Oh, on a scene of joy that will be.
All round the Lord Jesus Christ, all gathered around him, there he will be the central figure.
All eyes focused on him, everyone worshiping him, everyone singing praise and Thanksgiving to him unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins.
That's the song they'll be singing up there.
And if you don't know anything about being washed from your sins in the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, you Can't Sing that song, and you can never hope to be there. And if you did get there, you wouldn't have any song to sing.
And if you tried to sing a song, you would have to sing about your own works and you'd be all out of tune.
There's only one song they sing up there, and that's to the land, the Lord Jesus Christ unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.
Can you sing that song?
Well, if you've tasted the supper of salvation.
It will be your privilege to be at this supper and rejoice.
Oh, what a time of joy that will be.
Says, Let us be glad and rejoice.
And give honor to him, for the marriage of the lamb has come.
There's a day coming.
When those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ here will be given to him.
To be His forever in eternal relationship.
We were Speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ as creator of this vast, vast universe.
Won't it be a great privilege to be the special companion of that one, the Lord Jesus Christ, for all eternity?
It says his wife hath made herself ready.
Will be re acknowledged as in relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ.
He will acknowledge us as his companion.
Or wouldn't you like to be the companion?
Of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You know the Lord Jesus Christ wants you to be his companion.
Or it was a happy day for the Lord when he was hanging on the cross, and that one thief turned to him. And he said, Lord, Remember Me when thou comest in thy Kingdom, Remember Me.
He said and the Lord said today.
Thou shall be with me in paradise.
Ah, that was a bright spot.
In that time of suffering.
For the Lord Jesus Christ there in the cross.
00:45:03
While he was actually hanging there on the cross, he got one.
To be his companion.
His companion for all eternity. Wouldn't you like to be the companion of the Lord Jesus Christ?
He wants you. Yes, he does. He wants you to be his tonight.
He wants you for himself.
Or how can you resist him? How can you resist such love?
He wants you for himself, to be yours, to be his forever. He wants you right now.
Will you say yes, Lord Jesus?
I'll come and I'll partake of that supper now.
I want that supper of salvation. I want to be there.
But there is another supper spoken of in this chapter.
And all this is a solemn, serious subject.
In the 17th verse of this 19 chapter of Revelation and I saw an Angel standing in the sun.
This Angel is standing in the place of supreme authority, and he cried with a loud voice, say to all the fouls that fly in the midst of heaven.
Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God.
That you meet the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of forces, and of them that sit on them flesh of all men.
Both free and bond, both small.
And great.
Oh, here we got a picture.
A prophetic picture, and it's a prophetic vision, something John sees, a vision that the Lord gives him of what's going to take place.
There's going to be a terrible slaughter.
And this will take place after the Lord Jesus Christ has taken his own to be with him in glory.
And those who are left behind.
Will go through this and they will be in that great slaughter.
1000.
No doubt millions of souls will be destroyed.
And to be covering the earth.
And God makes provision.
For all the fowls that fly in the heavens, that come together to clean up.
All of that.
Because there will be so much corruption lying around on the ground after that terrible slaughter, but God makes provision.
For these birds to come together to clean it up.
What a supper that will be for all those thousands.
It's very possible.
But you will be there.
Yeah. May the Lord speak to your heart tonight.
That you might take Christ as your savior.
And be saved from the judgment to come.
That's only part of it too.
That's only the first death. Then comes the second death, which is the lake of fire.
Yes, the first death is a separation of the spirit from the body.
The second death is the separation from the first of the person from God.
Confined forever in the place of judgment.
Oh, how solemn.
How solve?
Well, God has presented to you.
The Great Supper, the supper of salvation. He has given you the invitation to come.
Partake of that supper, will you have Christ tonight?
Will you have him receive him as your old and be safe?
And then you may have the privilege of being at the Lord's Supper.
And you will have the joy of being at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Rejoicing.
But all of you, don't take Christ tonight as your Savior. Judgment is before you.
And all. There's going to be a terrible time of slaughter and judgment, terrible time of trouble, tribulation for this world, and the Lord himself is going to ride out of heaven and destroy his enemies.
00:50:14
And if you don't take the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior tonight, you're an enemy of his. He that's not with me is against me.
Where are you going to take your stand tonight? There's no middle ground.
If you're not for him, you're against him.
What do you do tonight?
Oh, before him, Take him as your savior tonight.
And escape judgement to come.
And have eternal joy of being with Him forever.
Yes, when we accept Christ as Savior, we have salvation, salvation from judgment.
That's the negative side of it. But we have salvation to an eternity of joy and happiness and bliss.
And the privilege of being the eternal companion of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh look what you're going to miss if you don't have Christ as your safety.
What are you going to do with him tonight? Will you have him?
Well, if you'll have him, he'll have you. Oh, yes, he says him, That cometh to me. I will. And know why cast of will you have him? Will you have his supper tonight?
Or he'd be glad to have you come and partake of the supper of salvation.
Do it now. Now is the accepted time. The old now is the day of salvation.
Just like it said there, the supper was ready. It was supper time.
Everything is ready.
All you have to do is take Christ as your seed. Will you do that tonight?
And you can come just as you are. You don't have to fix yourself up.
Oh, no. Just come as you are. Come to Jesus and take him as your own personal savior. Just own to him. Yes, I know I'm a lost, guilty Sinner. I deserve to go to hell. But I know you died for me. I take you now as my savior. Shall we sing #12 on our hymn sheet?
Just as I am.
Without one plea.
But that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bids me come to thee.
All Lamb of God, I come.
#12
Bow prayer.
God Seeking Man's Blessing and Being Rejected
John 3:1-18
Gospel—W. Smith
DISCLAIMER: The following has been auto-transcribed. We hope it will help you to find the section of this audio file you are looking for.
Highest cost he offers. Free to all love, brings a glorious fullness in into the lost, makes known salvation from the power of sin through faith in Christ alone.
Even now, by faith I claim in mind the risen Son of God.
Redemption by his death I find, and cleansing through the blood. All it was love was wondrous love. The loveth gaunt to me. It brought my savior from above to die on Calvary #7. Someone start it, please.
Would you turn with me?
To the second chapter of John's Gospel.
John's Gospel.
Second chapter.
And the 23rd verse.
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover in the Peace day.
Many believed in his name when they saw the miracles, which he didn't.
But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man, for he knew what was in man.
00:05:06
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, the ruler of the jurors.
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou would a teacher come from God, for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Jesus entered, and said unto him.
Verily, verily affirmed to thee, except a man be born again.
He cannot see the Kingdom of God.
Nicodemus says unto him, How can a man be born when he is old?
Can he enter the second time into his mother's room and be born?
Jesus answered.
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh.
And that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
More than not, that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and now hearers the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth.
So is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered, and said unto him.
Why thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
Barely, barely, I say. Under thee, we speak that we do know and testify that we have seen and you receive not our witness.
If I have told you earthly things and you believe not.
How shall you believe if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man had ascended up to heaven.
But he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven.
And as Moses.
Lifted up his serpent in the wilderness.
Even so must the Son of Man be lifted up.
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not a son into the world to condemn the world.
But that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned.
But he that believeth not as condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation that light has come into the world.
And men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone to do with evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that a deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
There was an incident, if we may call it that.
That occurred last night.
After the Gospel meeting.
Which I am sure is solemnized.
Many in this room.
And I'm sure that everyone here knows what I'm referring to.
Where the life of a man was snuffed out.
On a few seconds warning.
We don't know whether the man was saved or not.
In all probability, it was not saved.
But a soul was ushered into eternity.
With no warning.
And may I ask each one here in this room tonight to answer in your own soul before God?
Where would you be now?
If you had been in that car hit by the train last night.
Where would your soul be?
Oh, it's a solemn question.
But a soul was ushered into eternity.
To face God.
And my dear friend.
You are going to have to face God.
Very soon. One of these days, you and I.
Are going to stand face to face with a holy God.
But all how blessed it is to think that many in this room.
00:10:07
Are going to face God.
As a savior garden.
As one who has provided a savior.
As one who has prepared a salvation.
Which is to whosoever will.
But oh, if you should leave this world without knowing the Lord Jesus as your savior.
Is to meet a holy God as a judge.
No covering for your sin.
It's a solemn thing.
Venice for that very thing, giving you a warning.
That we stand up here tonight.
To present the gospel of the grace of God to you in order that you may know.
That you have eternal life.
You know there are many in this world.
Who have read the Bible.
Recently one has been.
Up in New Brunswick.
Going door to door.
Visiting people.
Invited into the gospel.
And we reject, in many cases, this sort of an answer. I have my religion.
I know all about the Bible.
You don't need to tell me anything.
I said I had my religion.
Oh my dear friend.
Do you have Christ as your Savior you can have all over living you want?
But unless you have the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior.
Let me warn you.
That your affirmative.
Is going to be spent.
With the.
In the lake of fire.
In the verses of Iran in the second chapter.
This gospel.
We find that there are many who believed in the Lord Jesus.
They believed in His name when they saw the miracles that He did.
All they were convinced that that man that was in their midst was no ordinary man.
Here is a man that could work miracles.
Here was a man.
There was 5 loaves of bread and two little fishes could feed a vast throng.
Here was a.
That could raise the dead to life.
They believed in His name when they saw the miracles that He did.
You know these people. Let's say we have our religion.
Oh yes, they're convinced that the Lord Jesus was no ordinary man.
They're convinced that he was a man way beyond his years, beyond his times.
He was one who had more influence on the course of this world's history.
Than anyone else.
But oh, there isn't one thing in that.
That is going to save the soul.
And the Lord Jesus.
So one of whom we read here.
Who didn't commit himself to them because he knew all men.
He needed not that any should testify of man.
For he knew what was in man.
The Lord Jesus Christ.
Knows what is in your heart tonight.
He knows your very thoughts.
Sit in this room tonight.
He knows all about you.
Yes, he knows you through and through.
Better than you know yourself.
And it was because he knew what was in man that he came down here into this world as a savior.
In order that he might save poor fallen sinful man.
00:15:04
In order that he might impart.
Eternal life.
Well, amongst these people.
Who has seen the Lord Jesus?
And his mighty works.
There was one man.
Who was different from the rest?
His name was Nicodemus.
Here was a man.
Who was an educated man?
He was a teacher of the law, a teacher of the Jewish religion.
He was well versed.
In the traditions of that day.
Well versed in the scriptures given by God.
And we find as we read these verses.
That he knew that in the Lord Jesus there was something.
That he didn't.
He felt a need in his own soul for something.
And so he came to the Lord Jesus.
Truly came by night.
Oh, he was a little timid about coming.
He was afraid of what his colleagues would say if they saw him coming to Jesus.
But such was his need that he would come even though he came by night.
And all my dear friend.
Do you feel?
The need in your soul for something.
That you will lack.
Do you feel what it is?
To be without a savior.
To be lost.
Do you know what it is?
Can you say I know Jesus as my Savior?
Or do you look forward?
Eternity.
Separated forever from God.
From the one who today is speaking in love, inviting you to come to him.
Or do you feel your need?
Nicodemus felt that need.
And he came to the Lord Jesus.
Oh, he didn't know what question to ask.
But he came to the Lord Jesus anyway.
And my dear friend.
If you have an unsatisfied need in your soul.
If you don't have the Lord Jesus as your savior, oh come to him.
The Lord Jesus knows what's in your heart, and He's able to meet your need.
And to satisfy that longing that you have in your soul, and he'll fill it.
From Nicodemus.
Comes to the Lord Jesus.
And he says, we know that thou were to teacher, come from God.
Oh, what a confession. That was Nicodemus.
The one who taught the people in their scriptures.
He says as much as the Lord Jesus.
You have something that I don't have.
And I want it.
Oh, what a wonderful, wonderful request that was from Nicodemus.
He comes to him with an open heart.
To receive what the Lord Jesus could give to him to satisfy.
The empty nuts of his own soul.
We know that thou would a teacher come from God, for no man can do these miracles that thou doest.
Except God be with him.
Yes, Nicodemus was willing to be instructed of the Lord Jesus.
As to what he needed for himself as much as to say Lorne, you know what's in my heart.
You know the longing of my heart.
And I present myself to you.
To give me that.
Which were pleasing to God.
00:20:02
So the Lord Jesus.
Knowing Nicodemus.
He answers him, rather.
Than the implant question.
He says, Verily, verily, I say unto thee.
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
Oh, that's a strange thing, is it?
You must be born again.
Oh, what a truth it is and how it answered.
In full.
The question of Nicodemus.
Oh, he says. Nicodemus.
Unless you're born again, unless you have a new nature.
A nature capable.
Of receiving that which God has to offer.
All you can't see the Kingdom of God.
Nicodemus, you need a new life.
There was nothing.
In man as such.
That could receive the things of God.
Old man in his natural state.
A sinful fallen nature.
Is not fit for the presence of God. Nicodemus, you must be born again.
Nicodemus says.
How can a man be born when he is old? Oh, Nicodemus doesn't understand.
No.
How many of us understood what it was to be born again?
Until by faith we laid hold of the word of God.
Old Nicodemus is looking at the natural thing. How can a man be born when he is old?
Oh, the Lord Jesus says.
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
Nicodemus.
God through his Holy Spirit.
Applying the word of God to you.
Can bring.
That new birth.
Then you know Peter.
Speaks of that.
In his epistle.
He speaks of this very thing.
In the.
End of the first chapter.
Of his first a crystal.
23rd verse.
He says being born again.
Not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible.
By the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.
And then the last birds.
By the But the word of God endureth forever, and this is a word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
My friend the gospel.
If you by the grace of God.
And through faith.
Will lay hold.
Upon the word of God through the gospel.
God is able.
To work in you.
This new birth.
Oh, may you lay hold of it tonight.
That which is born of the flesh.
His flesh.
Perhaps you agree with that?
You look around.
You go down to what we call Skid Row.
And you see men lying in the gutter.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh.
Yes.
Flesh in all this depravity.
In his living us is filled.
That I was just born of the flesh's flesh. But you know, you can take that same flesh.
00:25:05
And you can clean it up.
You can refine it. You can put beautiful clothes upon it.
And you can still say that we just born of the flesh is flesh.
And you can educate it.
You can speak of the most brilliant minded you wish.
And unless that soul is born again, you can say that we're just born of the flesh is flesh, and it's nothing else.
Whether it's done in the gutter.
Or whether it's in the top strata of society.
Or in the realms of the highest intellect.
It is still fresh.
And you can't change it.
Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard changes spots?
You can't change it.
And so God is done.
With a flesh.
Is done with it.
And he said that's worthless.
But all blessed be gone.
But that isn't the end of that verse.
He says that which was born of the spirit, his spirit.
Yes, God begins anew.
And gone.
Through his precious wood in the gospel.
Disable.
To bring.
A new life, a new creation.
Do you know what it is to be born again?
Have you believed the word of God in the gospel?
If you don't believe the word of God, if you don't believe the gospel, if it doesn't mean anything to you.
Let me assure you.
That you're not born again and all that you had to look forward to in that state.
Is simply an eternity with the damned.
Oh, Nicodemus says. Don't be surprised. Don't Marvel. Don't wonder if what I've said.
Don't wonder at it.
The wind bloweth where it listeth.
And thou hearest the sound thereof, and canst not tell winter cometh, and whither it goeth.
So is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
Let me tell you, my dear friend.
That if you have a new conscience or in your soul.
The only twinge.
If you feel.
The sting, the sharpness of the word of God.
Let me tell you.
But the Spirit of God.
Is speaking to you.
Yes, the Spirit of God is speaking.
Spirit speaks through the conscience.
How is it with you?
Do you feel before God that you're a Sinner?
God says you are.
Do you believe God? Do you believe you're a Sinner?
All don't put aside.
What the Spirit of God has to say to you.
I heard very recently a story.
Which rather shocked me.
But I'm going to tell it.
And I think I'm going to tell it as nearly as I heard it.
There was a young man.
Of Christian parents.
The young man himself was not saved.
And he went to a gospel meeting with his parents.
And at the end of the meeting, the one who was speaking.
Prayed that God would give any unsaved there in that hall to give them no rest.
Until they came to know the Lord Jesus as savior.
He prayed that there may be no sleep that night. For one, he would go out of that hall, refusing the Lord Jesus as a savior.
00:30:05
This young man was much exercised.
He went home, he went to bed and he couldn't sleep.
He tossed and he turned until the small hours of the morning He couldn't go to sleep.
He got up out of bed.
He got on his knees and he prayed, he said. Oh God.
Leave me alone, I may go to sleep.
You went back to bed and you went sound asleep.
A few days after he met, an automobile accident seriously hurt.
His father visiting him in the hospital.
Oh, son, he said. How is it with your soul? Don't you want to receive the Lord Jesus as your savior?
He's a father. It's too late.
He says. I told God to leave me alone.
And he died.
Oh dear friend.
Don't resist.
The prodding of the Spirit of God.
If the Spirit of God is speaking to you tonight.
Oh, heed the warning.
Dylan put it off. You may be like this young man, or you may be like the young man.
Last night.
God speaketh once, He ate twice.
Man perceiveth not.
But oh God, is not always going to strive with your soul.
The day is coming when God will no longer speak to you. It may be when you leave this world.
It may be that, like this young man we just spoke about, that God will leave you alone.
And not speak to you anymore.
Oh, Nicodemus doesn't know how these things can be.
The Lord Jesus says to him, Aren't thou a master of Israel? And knoweth not these things?
Oh, Nicodemus.
You teach the scriptures to your people.
Don't you know what the scriptures say?
The Lord Jesus to speak to those in his day.
Our say to the people of the same class of Nicodemus, He searched the scriptures.
For them ye think, ye have eternal life.
And they are they which testify of Maine.
And you will not come to me that you might have life.
My dear friend.
Knowledge of the scriptures will never save you.
No it won't.
The knowledge of the scriptures will never say. They will only condemn you.
Unless you come to the Lord Jesus in faith.
The Lord Jesus could tell those Pharisees you will not come to me, that you might have life.
And if you leave this hall tonight?
Unsaved.
Is because you will not come to the Lord Jesus.
The responsibility is on your own head.
When your own soul, if you leave this fall tonight unsaved.
Nicodemus of Orange serves your own scriptures.
In the book of Ezekiel tells you how that God is going to put.
A new spirit.
Into his people.
He's going to take away the heart of stone and he's going to give them a heart of life.
Oh, Nicodemus.
Don't you understand?
This is what God is going to do for his people.
He said. I've been telling you about earthly things.
For all Nicodemus, I guess that means so much better than that.
Even if you can't believe what I tell you about earthly things, how are you going to believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
Oh, what we have to present tonight.
00:35:01
Is a story.
Of heavenly things.
How that God is redeeming a people out of this world to take them to be in his own house in glory.
That's what God has in store for each one who believes in the Lord Jesus in this present age.
And who else?
Was qualified to tell such a story.
Than the Lord Jesus himself.
No man of the ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
Oh, the Lord Jesus.
The one who came down from heaven in order to present the story of the love of God.
Yes, He who had been in the bosom of the Father throughout all eternity, who else could tell of the love of God like he could tell it?
And he speaks of himself here as a son of man. I don't know how precious it is that he speaks of himself that way.
In the gospel, which is particularly.
Presenting to us the Lord Jesus is the Son of God.
He speaks of himself as the Son of man. And why?
Oh, how else?
Could he tell the story? How else could the Son of God come down into this world and die?
He came down here and took upon himself human form capable of death.
In order that he might die.
And bear the sins of money.
And all, thank God, my sins were upon him. And my dear friend, let me ask you.
For your sins upon Jesus when he hung up on the cross.
Mine were, and I see many in this room tonight whose sins were laid upon Jesus.
How about yours?
Have you laid hold of him as a savior by faith?
Can you say?
He bore my sins in his own body on the tree.
Oh, you may go out of this room tonight.
Able to say that.
And you know you can close in with that right now. As you sit in the seat, you can come to the Lord Jesus and find him a savior who will meet you in your very need.
So the Lord Jesus refers Nicodemus back to that wonderful story of Moses.
When in the wilderness, the people had sinned.
And all you know, this story of Moses raising up that serpent of brass.
Oh, why did God heal the people in that day?
In that manner that God could have healed them otherwise.
But all it seems to me that God took us to light.
Thinking of the coming day.
When he was going to have his son down here in this world, going to Calvary's cross.
As a savior.
That he wanted to give a little picture.
If one may say reverently, to remind himself of what was to come.
So that he could look at that picture and said you and I could look at it.
Too, and see the heart of God.
In love to poor dying sin, sick souls.
Moses to know.
Raise that serpent of brass in the wilderness so that the people bitten the serpents.
Could look at that serpent.
And the look of faith.
Which saved the soul that had been bitten.
So the Lord Jesus points Nicodemus.
To that time.
And as Moses had lifted up a serpent in the wilderness.
Even so must the Son of Man be lifted up.
00:40:02
Oh, what words those are. There was no other way that God.
Could meet the Sinner.
There is no other way that God could impart eternal life.
Except the Son of Man.
Must be lifted up.
It must be that way.
Or did God love his Son? Yes, he did.
His love for the Lord Jesus cannot be measured.
And yet, my friend.
God loved your precious soul so much that the Son of Man must be lifted up for you.
He must be lifted.
Thank you much.
Does God love you?
Does it have any effect upon your heart?
Are you touched with the love of God?
For you.
That the Son of Man must be lifted up.
Why that whosoever believeth on him.
Should not perish but have eternal life.
Gone.
Has given his blessed son as an object of faith.
He's presented to you with one lifted up.
Upon Calvary's cross.
That you?
May find him an object of faith and believing on him.
May have everlasting life.
Do you want it? Do you want that everlasting light, that eternal life which God gives?
As he gives it.
And as a brother who was present here in this room pointed out.
To one a few days ago.
That the next verse starts out four gone. So loved the world.
There is a direct connection.
For God so loved the world.
Yes.
Think of it. There was a God that loved this world last night.
We had presented to us.
Some of the creatorial grandeur, if one may speak of that way, the glory of God.
Speaking with as almighty heavens.
The billions and billions.
Of heavenly objects.
Those were created by God.
And this world a little speck of dust.
In the universe.
And you and I, What are we upon this world, upon the earth?
But God soul loved the world.
The love of God.
Found this object.
In poor little puny, simple man down here in this world.
Yes, he did.
God's soul loved the world. Think of it.
What more?
What more could God do? The soul of the world?
That he gave his only begotten son.
Think of it. God gave.
Had you ever think? Have you ever thought of God as one who delights to give?
He gave his only begotten son.
What father here in this room tonight?
Would give his son his only son.
To save an enemy.
Oh, I'm sure there's none here.
I know I wouldn't, but I'm sure there's none here that would do.
In the very least.
Anything like that?
But God gave his only begotten son.
Think of it.
00:45:01
That one who had been his delight.
All eternity.
The one who had been in the bosom of the Father.
God gave him.
Why that whosoever believeth in him.
Should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Or one likes to think at this of it this way.
That the law of God.
Was so boundless, so wide as to take him the whole world.
Not one human soul in this world is left out.
But oh.
There's something else.
When it comes.
Down to a matter of faith. It comes down to you.
Whosoever will.
To whosoever believeth in him.
The love of God is extended toward all.
But it's a personal transaction.
Between a soul and God.
That brings life.
Right down to you.
The same as it was with me. I had to come to God and own myself as a Sinner before him, and lay hold of the fact.
That God gave his only begotten Son from me.
And God gave his only begotten Son that you might know what it is.
To have everlasting life.
Oh, have you put your trust in him?
Do you know what it is to have everlasting life?
Do you believe God?
Oh, can you measure such love as that?
That God would give the dueest objective his heart.
In order that you.
Have a savior.
For God sent not his Son into the world.
To condemn the world.
You know, it's a common notion that we find as we go around talking to people.
They think the Lord Jesus came down here into this world to appease an angry God.
But it's not so.
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world to Him might be saved.
It was God that sent his Son down here in order that you might have a savior.
In order that he might have you as one of his own.
Oh, blessed fact.
That it was God himself.
That devised the plan of sending his own dear son down here not to condemn, not to send you.
To the lake of fire.
But that you might be saved.
Is the desire of God that you might be saved.
Yes, he wanted to be saved.
But all the next sentence?
Is a Solomon.
He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already.
Do you believe?
On the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do you have him as your savior?
If you don't.
If you do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
You're condemned.
The judgment of God hangs over your soul.
And unless you close in with God's offer of salvation.
That judgment is going to fall.
It's going to fall.
And there's going to be no escape.
From that judgment.
00:50:01
There's another verse or two that I want to read.
The Lord Jesus was talking with some in that day.
And he tells him he's going away.
He says. I go my way.
And you shall seek me. You shall die in your sins.
Whether I go, ye cannot come.
No solemn words.
Then a verse or two down, and this is in the 8th chapter and the 24th verse now.
I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins.
For if you believe not that I am he.
Ye shall die in your sins.
Those are faithful words.
Ye shall die in your sins.
And there's a finality to that.
Leaving this world in your sins.
Sealed your doom for all eternity.
Yes it does.
It seals your doom for all eternity.
To have to do.
With a holy gun.
After the question of your sins in that day, when the judge upon the throne is going to be the one who tonight is presented to you as a savior.
And you'll have to answer to him in that day for your sins.
But all the verse in the third chapter we're reading.
Says he that believeth on him is not condemned.
How precious he that believeth is not condemned.
The one who believes, as the 16th verse tells us, is the possessor of everlasting life.
Do you have it?
This is the condemnation that light has come into the world.
And men love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.
The light has come into the world.
The Lord gave us when he came down here.
Came as that.
And he came into the midst of darkness.
The first chapter of this gospel tells us that darkness comprehended it not.
That light did not dispel the darkness of man's heart.
Because men.
Love darkness rather than light.
'Cause their deeds are evil.
Oh, how hard it is for man.
To own himself as a Sinner before God.
But oh, how blessed it is when a Sinner comes in all his need and comes to the feet of the Lord Jesus and finds in him.
The one, the only savior that can satisfy his need. Oh, won't you come tonight?
Shall we sing hymn #9?
From every soul by sin oppressed, there's mercy with the Lord. And He will surely give you rest by trusting in His word. For Jesus shed His precious blood rich blessings to bestow.
Plunge now into the Crimson flood that washes white as snow.
He asked Jesus. Is the truth the way that leads you into rest. Believe in him without delay, and you are fully blessed. Come then and join this holy band and on to glory gold to dwell in that celestial land where joy is immortal, Flow only. Trust him only trust him only trust him now. He will save you. He will save you. He will save you. Now #9.

DISCLAIMER: The following has been auto-transcribed. We hope it will help you to find the section of this audio file you are looking for.
Rather than, would it be your mind that we might read?
In Luke's Gospel.
I was thinking of the 4th chapter.
4.
Verse 13 verses.
Gospel Chapter 4, verse one.
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost.
Returned from Jordan.
And was led by the fear into the wilderness.
Being 40 days tempted of the devil.
And in those days he did eat nothing, and when they were endless, she afterwards hungry. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God.
Command this goal, that if he made bread, and Jesus answered him, saying, It is written that man shall not live by bread alone.
But by every word of God.
And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him.
All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me into groups. Whoever I will, I give it.
If thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine.
And Jesus answered and said unto him.
That they're behind me, Satan. For it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from him, For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against the stone.
And Jesus answering, said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
Like an order thoughtful by Luke is particularly for the Gentiles.
More genealogy is carried back not to only to Abraham, right back to Adam.
In this 4th chapter you put it on.
And finally.
The delicious is sent to the city of Seidman, which is outside of Israel.
And there were many lepers.
In Israel in the time malicious the Prophet, none of them was cleansed saving name in Syria.
27 first work chapter one before it and in the end the group.
In the 24th chapter.
Verse 46.
Unsaid unto them, that is the Lord said under the disciples.
Exhaust is written, and thus it beholds Christ to suffer.
And arise in the day of the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins, the pretty priest in his name, among all nations beginning at Jerusalem.
There are many indications that it's particularly.
For us Gentiles, this gospel was written.
I was brought in with him. We sang.
That makes me think of this portion of scripture.
Our Jesus footsteps every show of time for every child.
Well, he raised his footsteps in many parts of the Scripture. This is just part of here.
00:05:01
But I was thinking, other than that the obedient man.
Doing all of those things that leads the Father.
That's what he's doing here from this fortunate scripture.
He's the obedient 1.
And when he quotes Scripture, he quotes from the book of Deuteronomy.
Which has sometimes been called the Book of Obedience.
A quote from that book of obedience because he's the obedient. 1 The obedient man and her brothers speaks of tracing his genealogy way back to Adam.
Well, Adam, the first man failed.
For the Lord Jesus Christ the 2nd man didn't fail. He was altogether obedient.
He doesn't come to make demands.
As Moses did, or as John the Baptist.
But he comes.
To obey those commands. He's the obedient man.
It's a remarkable expression with here, isn't it, Being full of the Holy Ghost?
Please come forward now to be put to the test.
To be met by the Spirit into the wilderness.
The first man failed in a very simple matter.
Here's one who amid those fine circumstances?
Will not fail.
While he wasn't tested that it might be known whether he would fail or not.
But the testing surely came to show that he not only was a man, but divine son of God.
There was no thought.
That he might fail No thought like that at all.
No thought from it came to be tested so that Satan could realize he could do nothing with this man.
Why is it that it looks gospel? It's thinking about the Lord Jesus.
Being played by the Spirit into the world, turning to Mark's gospel, and in the new translation it says if you speak it with the Spirit, drives him out into the wilderness.
That's from the 12 first of Mark One.
Would that be because in Mark's Gospel he's presented as a servant?
And He is, as it were, driven to do God's will.
But in Luke, he's the obedient man and he's led to do God's will.
The noble of his own brother, and no will of his own.
Well then, if they're not the thought she.
Being who he was.
Son of God.
Son of man without sin.
They reluctant, so to speak, to have to do with that awful being.
That is revolving, told holiness is that which repels evil righteousness for judging. Well there was that with the Lord.
00:10:03
The reluctance, I believe, of having to do, having to do with that awful being.
Shouldn't that be our attitude for ourselves too?
Into temptation, to put ourselves in place where we can be tempted of Satan.
But rather to seek to be.
Hindered.
The Lord Jesus, for their brothers already said, was reluctant.
To come into contact with Satan.
But.
The Spirit of God.
Drives him into the wilderness in order that he might show what a perfect man walking in the path of faith.
What he would do.
And it's noticeable here.
His wilderness. Not the Garden of Eden. The Garden of the Lights.
But the wilderness? A barren place where there was really nothing to sustain life.
Well, that's where the Lord is led.
To have to do with this awful being.
Satan tempted the first man.
And he found something there that answered to his temptation. Well, he would tempt the Lord here to see if there was that there that.
Would be could be tempted by him in this way.
It tells us that he was tempted.
40 days of the Devil.
We're not told.
Anything about those temptations?
But for 40 days, Satan was trying to break him down.
And in the meantime?
He had nothing to sustain him from this world.
He hung.
If we were to fast for 40 days, we'd have all we could do to keep ourselves alive. But he had this, what our brothers bring before us, that he was also tempted of Satan, which I'm sure was much more than being subjected to bodily hundreds.
Well, the first nine items forfeited everything, didn't he?
And Satan bound him, all tied up by Satan.
Now the second man comes.
And he's going to bind Satan.
We get that in the 11Th chapter of this gospel.
Verse 21 When a strongman armed keepeth his palace.
His goods aren't peace.
That's Satan, a strongman.
But when a stronger than he shall come upon him.
That's the Lord Jesus Christ, and overcome him. He take it from him all his armor when he trusted and divided his spoil. So here's the stronger than the strong man coming on the sea to find the strong man, Satan.
Here's where the binding begins, isn't it?
Lord, restore that.
All of Adam had lost, Lord restored it, and with more blessing still.
Not for everyone on Earth especially, but for his own.
The Old Testament and New Testament.
00:15:17
Satan thought.
An opportunity.
If thou be the son of God, commander, these stones, we made bread.
It sounded reasonable because he had the power to do it.
Well, we see the evil suggestion there too, if thou be the summer. Yes, the major suggestion is the temptation to make him prove that he could do it.
Well, there was no question about that. He could do it, but that wasn't the point. Now he had no word from the father to do such a thing.
And he wouldn't do anything without a word from the Father for.
He did always those things which pleased his father.
For what she did, the words he spoke.
Revealed the father.
Wasn't anything more needed.
Than that which he lived.
And taught.
Who art thou? They asked. He said. Even what I have been saying to you.
The very words he'd been speaking.
Should have told him who he was.
But the Lord did have a word, didn't he?
In the fourth verse.
It is written that man shall not live by bread alone.
Not find every word of God.
The Blessed Lord goes by the word He hands, and it's not the past for us to go by the word that we have.
Not to follow some cunningly devised fables devised by man. Not to follow something that's been added to the word of God, but to follow the word that we have.
That's the pathway that the Lord has shown for us.
Brother Anderson, sometimes it didn't always possible to give a scripture exactly for the way that you'd want it to be. But there are principles out there if we don't have the scripture.
In this case.
Satan was attempting what it is you've gone out of.
He wanted him to exalt himself.
He says. Now if you're the son of the gospel.
Come back?
His first answer. The first word in his answer is back.
Taking the places of man.
And as a man, he has nowhere to do it.
Man shall not live by breadth, Satan says, if you're the Son of God.
Here was the Blessed One who became a man.
As a man, it was the perfect obedient man.
But what a lesson for us also.
How many people think?
All that the main object of life should be.
To supply your food and clothing.
Well, that isn't the case.
Man shall not live by bread.
Alone, but by every word of God.
Of course man could not after the fall after Adam is sin.
Because God had said, In the day thou eatest there are, thou shall surely die.
And Ephesians 2 tells us we were all dead in trespass and sins.
00:20:04
What if?
This principle is born in mind.
Man shall.
Not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
It's a good lesson for us.
Be careful about having three good meals a day.
For our bodies, how about our souls?
Perhaps sometimes when we think of the Lord Jesus Christ as to his body.
You might think of him as being sort of a mysterious being.
I'm not such a thing as hunger wouldn't affect him, but he had a body that could suffer hunger.
And here he's been without food.
For 40 days and expending energy too at the same time.
And that body of his is crying out for food.
And here it is that Satan comes.
Into tempting.
Well, it would have been easy for him to turn those stones into bread, that he might satisfy that hunger.
But he sets that aside.
For the time being.
When you think of the many miraculous cures which he wrought.
We must bear in mind that he felt the deepest sympathy with the persons whom he healed.
Himself there are sins, and carried our sorrows.
He felt these things.
In deep sympathy with them.
Yes, he was the most.
Sensitive feeling man ever was.
Because he felt things perfectly didn't.
Well, we might be tempted when we think of him as a man, and then we think of him as a son of God, try to analyze his person.
And dissect his person.
But we have to take him just as he is, just as he is Son of God and Son of man.
And just thank God for him and trust him simply.
As our very old, our own personal savior.
Not indifferent to temptation.
He was tempted everywhere.
Nothing in him to answer.
Temptation. We have sinned in us and we can be tempted by it. Not him, but he was like us.
Except for that we're even given to understand that.
Cheers and a strong crying and tears.
That they prayed to him that could save him out of death.
He felt these things, He felt.
The the terribleness of.
Being in that state.
It's a terrible thing for him.
Oh my God, there's a bit possible.
Let me come back.
They're going to talk to my.
Is there any?
Discussion to be strong, if thou be frank.
A lot of cards there.
00:25:03
That you're rejecting this Christ. It was a talk. It will be Christ. Say it.
Here the devil with having stuff.
Adams.
Adam is dislocating on the desk.
Christ went into death obedience.
That's why the judge.
Man has ever thought to lift himself up.
As a part of savings lives, and it's not in regard to be shall be as God knowing good needles, the man was to exalt himself and bring God down.
According to Olympians 2, the one that wouldn't exalt himself thought is highly exhausted.
Some of those linking, but as Christ he was redeemed the nation's misery.
But he wouldn't save himself.
And when he came to Israel, they looked for a deliberate decision from their enemy.
But he shall save his people from their sins.
Not their enemies. The time hadn't come for them.
There is a day coming when you say this from the revenues.
But he will first give Israel a new heart.
You find the same temptations used on Adam.
In the garden.
Or in principle, the temptations that he uses on the Lord here in the wilderness.
And they're the same temptations that we find in John's Gospel.
At John's epistle, rather.
Where?
He controls the world and lust is the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
Satan controls men the day with those 3 mortgages.
Holding out those three things.
And Adam accepted.
That is.
They saw the tree was good for food.
And pleasant to the eye, free to be desired to make one watch.
Lust of the flesh to look in the eyes and cry.
So with it all together.
Having the knees fell.
But the Lord refused every temptation to the answer to every temptation by a simple illiterate.
He didn't use the word of God to silence Satan, but he used the word of God in the direction for his own conduct in the place he takes.
I think all his answers are from Deuteronomy.
Yes, but I've often thought whether we'll see that there every answer that the Lord gave to Satan.
Was a blow to Satan because he had told Satan claimed that you didn't do it.
So Satan's failure is showing up.
You're Charlotte ****.
But I was thinking of it, brother.
For the standpoint of when we are tempted.
We use the word if we use the word of thought as the direction to guide our people.
Satan is powerless.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Well, how will he meet it? How will he recognize this resistance?
While he'll see in us the same manner of resistance that he met in the Blessed Lord.
And he says that he's defeated it. If the scripture is used as the guide for our people, you mean in our being obedient?
00:30:03
In the garden.
In there in that they distrusted God. He put it to them in such a way that God was not good to withhold those things from, and they accepted that, and they fell.
Have really the first thing that Adam and Eve lost confidence in God? Yes, and that is what the Lord has started again.
Because he demonstrated.
The intentions of his grandmother for us and the wonderful grades has met our every needs.
I know the lies being told today.
God has a Fender in Hell.
It's just a new twist on an old model. In other words, God would send the Sinner to hell. He wouldn't be.
But God is good, but He's also a holy God.
And it is holiness He must judge sin.
Is that right?
Yes, indeed. Or in first John.
Chapter 4.
We get.
The two things brought together.
First, John 4.
Verse 9 and 10.
And this was manifested the love of God toward us, because.
Because the God sent his only begotten Son into the world that he might, that we might live through him.
There is the range of his love telling that God loves the whole world.
But the next verse brings out the holiness of that love.
Here in his love not that we love God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins, the sin question has to be taken care of. God can't take the Sinner to heaven the way he is. No sins have to be dealt with and the Lord Jesus Christ is the propitiation for our sins. The Lord has done everything that's necessary now so that the Sinner can be saved from his sin.
And find the Lord Jesus Christ as a substitute.
And be saved for eternity.
You say Brother Anderson, then of the ninth person measure.
The intent of the character.
All hope and measure that love.
His love is a great talk and the 2nd implementation.
Yeah, and you can reverse that too.
And then why should we catch where confidence tells us that Hebrews 1035.
Cast not away, therefore, your confidence, which has great recompense of reward.
For he has need of patience.
That after you've done the will of God, you might receive the promise, Forget a little while, and he that shall come will come.
Sad thing when you say to God.
Loses confidence in God and even expresses it audible.
In the third chapter of John, I could say the second chapter of John.
You mentioned brother. Both see me for three complaints that managed.
In order and up to your eyes, and your private life and novel honorable in the world. And the world passed away and lost her up. But even through the little problems by the corners not even the beautiful say it, but even your and you find the budget of Lord Julie, the little car doing the Father.
And I'm just thinking, how do you know about it? How can we do it?
Through his word, that should send the deal.
There may be some specific point.
Guidance we go to God and pray about.
Asking to make it clear.
But there's no need of going to God and asking God for how we should conduct ourselves if we have a plain scripture on the floor.
00:35:08
That is as much as to say that God might change his mind.
The person wants to marry an unbeliever and then says I'll go and pray about it.
Is denying the Goddess God's word is sufficient?
And it's treating you treating God as though he might change his mind.
He will not.
Just like that as a sample.
Yes, and then you have the first couple of verses of Romans 12.
As a good guy, I beseech you therefore, brethren.
By the mercies of God.
That you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy.
Acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable or intelligent service.
And be not conformed to this world.
But be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
That you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. That's how we get to know the will of God. We obey the word. Are we sacrifice?
Our own.
Carnal desires.
And present our bodies.
Sacrifice.
And as we do so, we go on with himself. The evidence that this is his word is confirmed in our soul.
You know, one of that good and perfect and acceptable will of God.
The Lord and say I've been elected as I will. Well, actually an amendment Christian who is walking in communion that likes to do the will of God.
That would be the desire, a new man.
If I fall on past.
It's not. It's not the new nature that's operated with.
It's the old nation.
If I look at that, the first epistle of John.
Chapter 3.
And verse 9.
Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin.
For his seed remain it in him.
And he cannot see him because he is born of God.
That truth, that truth, is little known in this vast, cushioned him in which you and I live.
We little realized.
World is covered by blessed protection less than the eyes pride of life.
But I fully believe.
That is the stopping place of the entire after that.
Healing the images of the lust of the eye and the lust of the flesh.
Some years ago.
There were three billboards appearing in the cities at the same time, preparing for three different makes of automobiles.
One appeal to its beauty.
Another ad appeal to the luxury and comfort of the car.
And another one said by our mate. And watch your neighbors perk up.
Pride of life.
It's a stopping trade by which Satan falls.
But there was one that went through this world.
Unmoved by it all.
00:40:08
Nothing wrong with being hungry.
Nothing mean nothing wrong satisfying the hunger.
But it would be wrong to do it, and Satan's suggestion it would be wrong to do it without in this manner, without instructions to do so.
Yes, I quite agree with that, Brother Wilson. I think that if a Christian puts himself.
Into a bad position.
It has no claim upon God to deliver them if he does it purposely.
So if he exposed himself to danger.
Well, if it overtakes him, why it says him, right?
Even then, he can cry out to the Lord for his help.
Yes, and he may be much from enough to live in here.
But if he does, he he says he's funny. God, I mean, they bring blessing out of the by letting you fall like Peter did, and finding out what a poor failure thing you want.
I when I was guarding as saying that for forest.
With a young Christian who they need to be reminded.
There never can come a time that they can't turn back to the Lord.
You know, 5 minutes is hard and grace and getting God may have to do with the government of his children.
And yet his heart doesn't change towards us.
Peter found himself in the wrong place, hidden days, and cried out to the Lord, and he delivered it to him.
Peter, the very one that we were speaking about who failed so and was restored.
Says in his epistle. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. He had tasted it, well, we can taste it too.
Well, God has made it with necessity to play these things.
He met us in our deep knees at the cross.
Yes.
And the blessed relationship into which?
Through death and in resurrection.
The man that died for us is now the one who is seated at God's right.
And our great High Priest with God.
Our advocate let's let's deal, isn't it?
The relationship comes in there.
And advocate with a servant.
And why would the parliament, all God would have us to know, brothers?
That.
The new relationship into which Grace has.
Even if we fall into actual sin, we have an advocate with the Father and nothing, nothing can disturb that relationship.
All seven. All 70.
Which Grace has all you didn't put the entire hurts?
You did not quote the entire verse.
Sorry to advocate where the Father is Jesus Christ the righteous Jesus Christ the Lord. And we mustn't forget that because no, brother, thank you for me that the Christian will be made to feel it. Thank you for reminding me yes, Jesus Christ with impunity.
You make me think of many years ago, brother. When?
Not long together, don't I quoted the Romans 6, the last verse of Romans 6. I didn't conclude it. Papa Father, says Young Bubba, you send this back, please.
The wages of city is dead, but the gift of God is eternal life. I stop there.
You finish that.
Through Jesus Christ.
Very important now to quote the whole scripture. Yes, yes.
00:45:00
Very important.
Jesus Christ, the righteous.
Brother Aaron a few some years ago.
I heard you give an address.
On these temptations.
Found here in Matthew.
Connecting them with.
What comes to us?
In youth, middle age.
Attorney.
Yes, I really like I think.
That scripture in First John 2.
What we've been speaking about lust of the flesh.
The pride of life.
Or the lust of the eyes and pride of life. The less the order given in Luke, the order in the other Gospels is different. Well, I believe in Luke. It's the moral order, and it's the same order in which Satan attempted.
Eve there in the garden.
She first saw that the fruit was good for food.
That was beautiful to the eyes. And then it was something that would make one wise. Well, that was those three things.
Well, I believe that the lust of the flesh.
Has more to do with youth.
Though.
The One is never free from the lust of flesh.
I believe it has a stronger appeal, so to speak, to you.
Then the pride of life, the lust of the.
Eyes has to do more when Satan.
Brings before 1 The.
Glory of this world.
Well, he knows how to bring it before he knows how to display it.
Well, when?
He showed, for instance, the Lord.
Here.
All the kingdoms of the world, the glory of them. What a wonderful display, that what must have been.
Has been. I don't think there's ever been a moving picture to equal it.
That he displayed there. But you'll notice though, it's the kingdoms of this world.
The glory of them. But it doesn't say anything about the misery of them. Though he didn't show that because he never shows up. He never gives the whole truth.
Well, that is more to perhaps to do with middle wife life when one feels the responsibilities of life resting upon them.
And their concern is providing for their family and so on. Both Satan would seek to bring those things before one, I believe.
Well.
When the thing to be desired.
To make one wise, and here sitting upon the pinnacle of the temple.
And asked him to cast himself down.
To show who he was.
Well, I believe that comes in the last one to show who he was.
Well, as one goes on in life.
Why the older one gets?
Why The more that perhaps?
Appeals to them, and the harder it is to resist that kind of thing.
The harder it is to be able to own one that's wrong.
You know, Saul wanted Samuel to honor him in the presence of these elders of my people. Well, that was that kind of thing.
Well, I just thought of it that in that way.
Brother Big time for our leaders. Told for 30.
You got quite a schedule for the sponsor, anything?
College.
Sentence Sermons of H.E. Hayhoe: Young People's Address
The Ears of the Lord
The Goodness of God
Address—H.E. Hayhoe
DISCLAIMER: The following has been auto-transcribed. We hope it will help you to find the section of this audio file you are looking for.
General Meetings, Wheaton, IL, August 1961.
Addressed by AG Hayhoe.
We sing together hymn #64.
Beginning at verse 6.
In #64.
Beginning at verse 6.
Our God whom we have known.
Well known in Jesus Love. Now notice the language.
Rests in the blessing of his own.
Before himself above.
#64 somebody started him for us.
Now our talk this afternoon.
Will not be the gospel.
It's going to be an address to young people.
And I'm going to speak a little slowly, because it is far better to get hold of the truth.
And have the very sort of it in our hands.
This is the only book in the world.
That is light and make the darkness.
00:05:03
Truth amid error, comfort in every time of sorrow.
And the blessings of God that are promised in that book.
Are all.
You and Amen in Christ Jesus.
Absolutely certain of fulfillment.
And every believer is blessed equally.
Now I'm going to say that again. It's showing **** God has no favorites in his family.
Every believer is equally blessed.
The jewel box for the whole Bible is Ephesians 1. Can you find it?
And it's the third verse of Ephesians 1.
Let us be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Now that that's true of every believer?
Young girl.
Rich or poor, whoever you may be, God has no favorites. Each one is equally blessed.
Your enjoyment of the blessing depends upon your walk. So will you turn over?
To the Gospel of John.
Can you find John's Gospel and read?
1St 15.
Or Chapter 15, Brother.
And verse 9.
I've often said you ought to memorize that this verse and serve every day of your life.
Young Old.
And never try to love the Lord any more than you do.
Never try to love him any more than you do. Sit down and think of how much he loves you.
The singer who died for you.
Went through every form and kind of something that it was possible to go through. What, boy, put your sins away? Oh no, that was part of it. That was part of it. But that was not all of us.
Why did he go through so much suffering? Well, was it necessary for him to be hungry, to put your sins away, or to be weed?
Why did he go through so much suffering to kill you? How much he loves you?
So it says in this ninth verse, as a father had loved me.
So have I loved you.
Continue ye in my life. Are you a Christian? God loves you with an everlasting love.
As the Father have loved me, so have I loved you.
Continue ye in my love. That verse has cheered my heart and caused me to burst into praise many times. Many times.
I remember.
Well, particularly going from New York to Woodbridge, NJ.
And as I sat in the Newark station and saw them calling out of the tube men quitting their work and I was sitting on the bench.
Amid all that travel, this this verse came to me. I sat there. I thought as the foreigners, I loved me. So have I loved you.
And I couldn't have the question to praise.
Never tried to love the Lord any more than you do. Sit down and think of how much He loves you.
Now the 10th and 11Th verses is the love to happen.
You know when God created this world.
And we pronounce everything very good. And he put man Adam and Eve in the midst of a scene wherein they had done nothing to produce the group. But before Adam and Eve were placed there, it was the garden of Eden, and God pronounced it very good. And he put Adam and Eve in the midst of.
00:10:10
He turned not to eat of the Molly of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And then afterwards, he came into the garden in the cooler of the day, in the cool of the day. What did he come in for? He came in to herb communion with Adam and Eve. But they were hiding because they've been.
Hybrid and You can't think of a grim gift that you ever enjoyed since you were born, whether you're served or unsaved, that didn't come from God.
Did you enjoy your dinner today? Who made the fruit grow?
Who gave you the sense of faith to enable you to enjoy it?
Who provided it for you?
Ah, it was God in his goodness to man. You can't think, I repeat, of a good gift you ever enjoyed in your life that didn't come from God.
Took man's artist work.
Where it's all a copy of God's creation, for man can never improve on that which God has created.
It was very good and man can never improve on and I repeat.
All our figures, whether it was children or grown-ups, springs from unbelief of the goodness that's in the heart of God.
Are you a Christian?
Make it the habit of your life.
To take a step without consulting the wisdom of God, and there you'll find it in the world.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet that is for the next step, and I love them to my path. What does that mean? To show you where the path ends. But end it will. Down here end it will.
By So many look upon the Bible as a book to tell them how to be saved and go to heaven when they die.
Even Christians are wrong when they look upon the Bible in that way.
The driver of the book not only to tell you how to be saved and go to heaven, but how to live in this present evil world.
With light for your past, wisdom for every step of the way, and the blessing of God.
To rest upon your pathway, so notice that John 15.
Verse 10 now.
If you keep my commandments, nothing about dying, nothing about.
Forgiveness of sins here. If you keep my commandments, he shall abide in my love.
Oh, every word of God comes.
As a commandment.
To the child of God that has learned the love of Christ.
If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments and applied in His love.
Every father wants to see his children happy.
Only true father wants to see his children happy. But sometimes I as a father have made mistakes.
But I've got a father up there that never makes any mistakes. Never. Never.
Remember, the Bible is a book not only to tell you how to be saved, but how to live in this present evil world with the blessing of God upon your pathway through it. Unhappiness is a sense of soul, not a question of circumstance.
No, I tell you when you put that down 15 and I'll bring you to a thumb that will show you that.
Can you find the bombs are right in the middle of the Bible and it's the 39th song.
I said I will take heed to my willies now. This is not how to be saved.
This is how to have happiness after your party.
I will take heed to my ways that I sin not with my tongue.
00:15:02
Oh, the tongue is an unruly member. You say something and then you're sorry, you said.
Watch what you think about and judge every unkind thoughts and every evil thought.
Thoughts always precedes the action.
Never go to bed at night with an unkind feeling toward anybody in the world, no matter how they treat you.
No matter how they sit.
Is it not written God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. Was it because it was a word that was toward him in love? No fearing in love. Not that we love God, but that he loved us.
And sent his son to be the propitiation for our things at first John Chapter 4.
You know God loves you when you are in your sins without a.
Who is love? Not that we love God, but that he loved us.
Oh, how precious to think. His love never changes.
And walk in the sense of it is to have a happy Christian life.
When I come to these general meetings and I see you boys and girls and you know I love boys and girls.
I love boys and girls. I have some of them and I've got some yet.
And God wants to every one of his children to be happy.
But the world is dressed up to deceive you, so it says here a little further down.
In the second night star, in the fourth verse, Lord, make me to know my name and the measure of my beings, What it is that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou made my days as an handbread.
And my need is of nothing before these.
Verily, every man at his best seats.
Is all together vanity and then a little word is added Tila.
Every man at his best estate is all together. Benefit and the words of vanity is really vacuum. Nothing, empty. Empty.
So it says in the next verse. Surely every man walketh in a same show.
In a vain and empty show.
Every book you read. Unless.
It has the wisdom of the Word of God.
He simply follows.
For the wisdom of this world.
Here that soul empty, that the word of God tells us that that better send you to its church to remember it in your science, Corinthians.
First Corinthians.
Chapter 3.
And verse 19.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.
20th verse And again, the Lord knows the thoughts of the world, that they are them empty. The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Oh yes, no. Wiped in the Miss World. Well, we used to tell our children when they went to school. Children, you take your arithmetic at algebra and Euclidian composition from your school teacher. But when she talks about anything moral.
She's sure to be wrong and left.
Our thoughts are definitely the word. So you are the thoughts of the why that they are vague.
Every security.
And that is.
Governed by the wisdom of God will tell you to lay up your treasure down here.
To let the treasure down here.
That the things that are highly esteemed among men are abomination in the sight of God, you'll find that person assistance.
00:20:06
The things that are highly esteemed among men are abomination in the sight of God.
I'm talking to you as Christian.
Six times over.
The Lord says Christ in Matthew, once in March, twice in Luke and once in John.
That.
Did a man that walks in the wisdom of this world is walking foolishness?
He's to lay up his treasure in heaven.
We need a mark and a rest of corruption where thieves do not breakthrough.
Lay up to yourself anything that you do.
Simply to please God in the path of obedience to His Word will never be forgotten. It will be blessed.
And every act in your life and mind.
Either to be safe or to please God.
I often ask myself why do you want to preach self?
If you did everything right, nothing would be right except the motive was right.
You and I are enabled by the word of God.
To judge whether the motive is the glory of press.
Jesus could say down here, I do always go things that please him.
I do all of those things that please him, I often say to our young people in Agua, where I live.
Young Christians remember this, that no one ever walked.
Through this world to please God.
And at the end of their tackle, say I wish I hadn't done.
For the blessing of the Lord it made us rich, and he added no sorrow with it. The blessing of the Lord is made rich.
And, he added, no thoroughly and even gifts is not government.
David was a good king, and God bless him as a king. But he was a poor father and he had to suffer for it.
For you and I, if we're Christians, we're in the House of God and come under his government.
Now I'm going to give you a little rapid outline of that in First Peter.
In the five chapters when you turn over to First Peter.
The first chapter of First Peter is Salvation.
I'm not going into the detail, but notice the first verse. Peter and Apostle of Jesus Christ to the strangers scattered throughout process. Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Virginia. That is, there was a scattering of the tribes of Israel.
Elect according to the knowledge of God the Father through sanctification of the Spirit. Now I'll tell you what that means. Even you too you can understand.
Sanctification me of the Spirit means this.
That the Son of God.
Always, always occupies us with Christ and our heavenly portion sanctification of the citizens for the Spirit it tells you in the 16th of God.
Mr. Taketh of the things of Christ, and shows them to us.
And so it's sanctification of the spirit.
Until obedience.
Unto obedience.
The first thing that's spoken of is obedience. Are you a Christian? Are you a child of God?
Never take a step in your life without consulting the wisdom of the Word of God.
For this again, I repeat, don't look upon the Bible as simply a book to tell you how to die and go to heaven when you do die.
The Word of God tells us how to live in this present evil world and live with the blessing of God.
But God desires the happiness and blessing of his children, so it's unto obedience and strengthening of the blood of Jesus Christ that added, because none of us walk in the perfect obedience of the Lord Jesus. So the sprinkling of the blood is necessary for us, though it was not necessary for him.
00:25:18
Grace unto you. Grace is the unmerited favor of God.
And peace be multiplied.
Oh, peace.
Is more than simply peace through knowing that our sins are forgiven. This is the peace of God that passeth all understanding.
That keeps us in a world filled with evil. For the God and Prince of this world is Satan.
And so it is. We can walk in perfect peace. The world was never in such a troubled condition as it is right now.
But God is behind the scenes.
Moving all the scenes that he is behind and Christ is head over all things to the Church which is his body.
I've often said to my brethren in Ottawa, there's no one in them in this meeting, and no one in this world can speak an unkind word to me unless the Lord allows it. And never look at the person that speaks unkindly to you. Ask the Lord why he allowed it, why he loved it.
Shall I give you a simple illustration?
I had a mother. There were seven of us, children. I never remember my mother losing her patience with us. Some children never remember it.
Were we perfect children? No, we weren't. We tried there, I'm sure, but I never remember her speaking an impatient word.
When anybody speaks unkindly to you, just take it as an opportunity to show the patience and grace of Christ.
The patients never go to bed at night with an unforgiving spirit or an unkind thought toward anybody in the world, no matter how they treat you.
Carry always a forgiving spirit. Nothing happens by chance. God is the God of circumstances.
Or if my mother walked in that room.
My heart had overflow.
I'll never know how close you walk with the Lord. Do I see somebody speak unkindly to you and find out how you act, how you act.
Nothing happens about chance.
All is ordered of God, the circumstances, the weather, the conditions of life in your home or in your business.
Everything is ordered again.
God is the God of circumstances, and it will always to remember itself.
So here grace and peace be multiplied.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again unto a lively or living hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and omnipiled, and that fadeth not away reserved in heaven for you.
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.
Well, this is contrast.
For Israel, that's the end of side one. This tape continues. On side two, please turn your tape over at this time. Promise the land of Palestine.
And they were to have blessing in the land. They will have it in a future day.
Meantime, a jewel that believes in the Lord Jesus Christ has heavenly blessings for the middle wall. A petition is down and Jew and Gentile are made one in Christ.
This is our school life.
Now watch what I say next.
There are some things you learn down here that you can't learn in heaven.
You can't learn in heaven God is the God of all comfort, where you won't need any comfort up there.
You can't learn God as the God of all patience in heaven, where we'll never do anything in heaven that requires his patience.
These friends will learn down here a few brother Debbie who am said it's worth being sick.
00:30:04
To learn what a comforter job can be.
For he can come into into your room in the day of your sickness, and be such a comfort to you.
That your heart will overflow with praise.
You can't learn that in heaven. Why does? Why didn't God take us to heaven the moment he said this? What do you leave us down here for? To make money? No. To have a good time as men speak? No.
He left us down here in the school of God.
To learn what we can't learn in heaven, learn him as the God of all grace, the God of all patience, the God of all comfort. And it's worth going through this world, even in sorrow, to learn what a comforter he can be.
I remember when I was a boy.
They thought I was lost.
And I was supposed to be home for supper, and I didn't get home till about 9:00 or 10:00 at night.
And I'll never forget to this day. My mother opened the door.
She burst into Thanksgiving into her arms around me, she said. Oh, how are you? Safe. I thought you were there.
That very trial brought up the heart of my mother, just made her very precious to my thoughts. Oh, what a savior Jesus is when we defend the glory and we look back over our lives and see how he had been so patient with us, so gracious with us, so forgiving with us.
Or how we look into his face and burst into praise. It's a privilege.
To be saved when you're young.
To be saved when you're young, Thank God I received when I was a little boy.
But he's in love with his life shall lose it. What does that mean?
That means he that lives to please himself will be unrewarded in glory.
And it is worth having the sorrow to learn what a comforter Jesus is.
All you dear boys and girls.
You come to the meeting. Perhaps it's a long way to come. I remember this was in Philadelphia many years ago. An old brother, Hamilton, lived way up, a forgotten Ernie was called, and he and I were coming down on the streetcar.
And he was sitting beside me.
And he said, oh, brother, hey, who? I'm tired of this long journey from Irtingham down down to the meeting. It was right downtown in Philadelphia. I looked at him and I said, but brother Hamilton, you must have a big reward waiting you in heaven for all that long journey that you wouldn't have had if you lived next door.
He burst into laughing and he said, OK, well, I never thought of it that way before my life. It'll make the journey easier. Have you a long way to come to the meeting in Chicago?
Have you a long way to come? Got to get up 1/2 an hour earlier.
When you get the reward for it, for it, you'll be surprised.
He's measured. It will matter. You took. He's measured every step he took. He's measured all of the costumes. Or it's a privilege to do anything for that precious saviour who loved us and gave himself for us. If you heard me say at the opening of this meeting.
There's much of the sufferings of Christ that were not necessary.
To put our sins away. Why did he go through it in order to be a sympathetic high priest?
Shall I give you an illustration that you children can understand?
Supposing you had to walk from here to Spokane, WA, that's a long time and you had to walk every mile of it.
And I knew you'd be tired, and I knew the heat of the day would be oppressive to you. And I said I'll take the walk to Spokane.
Myself.
In order that I can sympathize with you in your willingness of body and all that you go through.
Well, I don't think I've got a heart big enough to do it. You know, I think I'd rather take the train or an automobile.
But you know the Lord Jesus walked every weary mile hungry and sexy. And really, what did he do it for? To put our sins away? No, to be a comforter to us.
00:35:01
To be a comforter to you, I will misunderstood by your brethren. The Lord was misunderstood by the brethren too. I was persecuted by the world. The Lord was persecuted too. Was that to put your sins away? No.
No. Why was it that Paul and Silas sang in prison? Why was it they sang in prison?
Oh, they learned in prison.
What a comforter God was.
And how their hearts burst forth into praise, and the prisoners heard them, and it was a testimony to them.
How much we learn in that way?
That blessed precious Savior with whom we're to spend eternity.
Oh dear young boys and girls, I can't tell you that. I would like to tell you the joy that awaits us when we step into the Father's house in Yonder glory. We're not only going to have bodies like him.
But we will be like him morally.
As well as physically. And we learn in that in the Father's House the depth of the divine bosom in a way that we cannot learn it fully down here.
Well, I must go on with my subject or I won't get through it all. The first chapter of Peter is happiness and blessing through faith in Christ.
I read the 18th verse to show, for as much as you know, that you are not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by traditions from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spots.
Now the second chapter.
Wherefore, laying aside all malice.
And all dire and hypocrisy and envy.
All evil speaking.
Why does it say that the first chapter is salvation through the blood of Christ, The second chapter is grow through the word of God?
Do you read the Bible every day?
Well, the first verse of the chapter.
Is the pulling up of the reeds laying aside all malice?
You won't enjoy the chapter you're reading in the morning if you allow malice in your heart. Now you notice these are the things that have to be seen. Malice and guile and hypocrisy and envy. Evil speaking is the last thing but the first four things that are mentioned.
Are the things that can't be seen.
If you've got girl or hypocrisy or envy, I can't see it.
Now watch my next statement. If you judge the evil thoughts that your brethren do not see, you'll never have to judge the evil actions that your brother induces.
Thought comes before the action.
If you if you have an evil thought, judge it at once.
Now, as newborn babies desire their sin, fear that word sincere means unadulterous. It's sinusira in Latin.
The unadulterated milk of the word that He made grow thereby.
How do I grow as a Christian?
What's the book that is sold for the new nature?
We used to tell our children when sometimes they'd say, well, what's the harm in it, father?
We used to say, well, is it the new nature or the monster of the old?
Oh, I just. I think it's the old nature. Well, what do you have to do with the old nature?
Put it in the place of death. Put it in the place of death, You ask yourself. You've got a problem right now in your life as to what some step to take. Is it the new nature wants of the old? Well, if it's the old nature, you're to keep it in the place of death, aren't you?
Isn't that simple? Isn't that simple when something comes to you?
Why is it your nature or the new nature?
Newborn babies desire the sincere milk of the word, that he may grow thereby.
Is so beauty of tasted that the Lord is gracious and all how full of grace?
All full of grace, very seriously unmerited favor of God.
00:40:02
Now watch my next statement. Please watch it every Christian blessing.
Is so large that it couldn't be like us, every Christian blessing is an apex. God couldn't do more than forgive you and make you one of his children.
And through all eternity, God will never remind the believer of any of his sins.
He says Your sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Christian blessing is a mountain peak.
If God hasn't won your heart, what more can you do to win it? What more can you do? He couldn't do more than make you a child of God, and Christ make you a member of his body.
And then he says in First Corinthians 3 all things are yours.
Sometimes when I'm traveling on the train, I lookout the window, you know, and I say to the man beside me, you know, all that property out there belongs to my fault, and I'm one of the heirs to be a seat. Of course you think I'm crazy.
But then I give them the scripture. Scripture says that we're heirs of God.
And joint heirs with Christ. That's Roman being heirs of God who desisted Chicago, belong to the whole world. The earth is the Lord. And the fullness there are the world amended gallery. He hasn't taken possession of it yet, that's all. But it belongs to him. And the Christian is an heir God and a joint heir with Christ. So I said you homework.
Tells you that if you're a believer, you're an air problem and joint there with Christ and some rooms going to put possession of it and you and I will possess it without buying it. All is yours and year Christ and Christ is God, you know let me to be a Christian.
Isn't it lovely?
I don't know any blessing possible.
That could exceed the blessedness of being a Christian. Here we are just on the end of the journey. The Lord is about to come.
Have we anything to fear? No. No.
It's all good, but God is behind the scenes, moving all the things that he is behind and prostate cover over all things for the church, which is his body.
All is yours and year Christ, and Christ is God. Well, the second chapter, then, is the way a Christian rose you ought to go.
This is the fool of newborn days. Desire the sincere.
Are unadulterated milk of the word that you may grow there by.
Now the third chapter is happiness. Turn to the third chapter.
And the tenth verse first Peter 3 and 10. The first chapter is salvation, the second chapter is group, the third chapter is happening.
For he that will run out and see Gupta, let him resume his tongue from evil, and his lips that they seek no girl, letting the Stew evil.
And do good let him seek peace and ensure pursue. Never bring anything up in your home life.
Or in the office where you work, or in the assembly.
Never bring anything up that will spoil the peace of your home right or your business life, or your assembly life unless it is necessary to do so for the glory of God.
Never defend yourself.
NEVER.
Matter. Defend yourself, I will write, and the other person wrong. Believe that God will make it all clean someday.
We'll make it all clean. Make it the habit of your life never to defend yourself.
Negative defense. No. Never, never, never. To defend yourself. No. No. Leave it with God. He knows what happened. He knows all the circumstances. You can leave it with the Lord. Always.
Always. Always.
What do we find here?
In the 13th verse, And who is he that will harm you if he be followers of that which is good, but and if he suffer for righteousness sake?
00:45:00
Oh, happy, are you?
Isn't that wonderful If you suffer for righteousness sake? When you say I was right, my sister was wrong and my brother was wrong. If you suffer for righteousness sake, happy are you and be not a favorite their care.
You need to be troubled but sanctify the Lord. Sanctify means.
Set apart the Lord God in your heart, and be ready always to give an answer to every man asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
17th verse for it is better with the will of God be so that you suffer for well doing than what evil doing.
Why they took Carl and Cyrus in jail where they write in doing this?
Fallen fire that sang in jail. Were they unhappy?
Want the unrighteous to put him in jail?
Did he? So when I get out, I'll get after them about this business? No, no, he was happy.
Oh, this could be developed. I'm only just giving you a few little points as I pass on from chapter to chapter.
The next chapter.
Is the flesh suffering and the Spirit rejoicing?
4th chapter.
For as much then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh.
Christ suffered for us in the flesh.
What does that mean?
My first arm yourself likewise with the same mind. For he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased some sins.
Didn't the Lord suffer in the flesh? Yes, I've already told you. He was weary with his judgment. He was thirsty. Did he feel the accusations that were thrown against him? Oh, yes, he says in the 59th Psalm. Research has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness.
I look for something to take.
But there was none, Not one. I looked for comforters and I found none. I've often said that when I visited in the hospital for some Christian. There I said to the Christian lying in bed, the Lord suffered and he looked for comforters and he found none. But you can't say that when you got 13, your mother put your arm around you and tried to comfort you.
With the Lord and said, I looked for comforters, and I found none. His heart felt it.
In go through to put your things away. No, no, Let me go through it for to show you how much he loved you and to be an example of how you and I are to walk through this world.
And so you do the right thing.
Perhaps in the meeting, perhaps it's in connection with the matters of our meeting that is held.
Shall I tell you a little story to illustrate? I remember we had a three days conference in Ottawa many years ago.
Many years ago. I guess that 30 years ago.
And the brother said, well, I'll cook the meat. And he said, all right, thank you, that's fine. But he cooked it very, very rare and wasn't done. And a good May the brethren coming down six months.
Luke's not cooked, right, Meat not cooked right. And so he said. I heard him say it. He says I'm never going to cook the meat for the meat anymore, so just criticize me. Oh, I said, brother, I thought you were doing it to the Lord.
So I was, he said. Well, I said, did the Lord tell you to stop and to prophet buy it and do it a little better next time?
And he did.
Make a conference. He had to cook the meat and he did a better job, but he was going to give up.
We're going to give up. So perhaps mother has told you to do something. Our father or some of the veteran have criticized you for something you did. Did you get cross and give up or did you say, Lord, help me to do it better next time?
Wouldn't that be the right way? Wouldn't that be the right way? We're so here. The Lord suffered. He suffered.
And he that has suffered in the flesh had ceased from sin.
It makes me think of driving my car to the meeting in Ottawa where I live.
And a brother was saying about some ball game he was going to, if he was in the car, some ball game he was going to. I looked at him and I said, brother, do you ever read first Peter four? It says he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.
00:50:04
Is it the new nature wants to go to that bold name of the old one?
Guess it was the old one. Well, what are you to do? I said. He's ever suffered in the flesh that ceased from sin, aren't you? To keep the flesh in the place of death, even if it means suffering?
Never thought of it that way. Well, why not? Why not? It's astonishing how people read the Bible. I walk away from it and never stop to think what it means. But there Jesus claimed I didn't write that. I didn't write his problem either. That suffering in the flesh are you and I to please the flesh.
These are the suffered in the flesh is because even though you're a Christian, you've got the old nature of the flesh in you that loves nonsense. Love's bullishness. Perhaps it's some bit of nonsense and you're going to tell it to your sister, brother, or somebody else. Don't do it.
That has suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin. Now what's my next statement?
Paul gives you the doctrine.
That were fed with trousers, Peter gives you the carrying out of the doctrine and what it will cost to carry it out.
And the Old Testament gives you samples of those to please God and what God did for them in the end, like Joseph or Durga or Daniel.
They walk to please God. What is the end of their path? Blessings.
These are suffered in the flesh.
And so if you have a desire to do something, just ask yourself the questions. Am I doing this to please God or to please myself?
Oh dear young people, the time is drawing to a close.
Or I say from the bottom of my heart.
You and I would only live to please God. We've never lived to regret it. For the blessing of the Lord, it made it rich and he added no sorrow.
The blessing of the Lord is make us a rich to put all put your knees at your bedside and note with the consciousness that you sought to please God during the baby. He is the sweetest thing that the new man can enjoy.
Her precious to have his blessing, how precious it is to have the inflow of his love into our souls. It's a piece of God that passeth all understanding. And you lay your head on your pillow and go to sleep.
In the quiet assurance that your ways have been pleasing to the Lord again, I say never defend yourself. Defend the Lord, defend the word of God, but never defend yourself.
Leave all with the Lord.
Is of himself will be owned and blessed of him.
So first Peter one is salvation. First Peter 2 will go through the word of God. First Peter 3.
Is happiness through obedience first Peter 4? Is the flesh suffering in the Spirit rejecting the 5th chapter?
Is where it will end, so we just conclude with the first Peter 5.
Seven Casting all your terror upon him, for he cares.
About you, For you.
Be sober. Be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, is a roaring lion walketh a boat, seeking whom he may devour from the faith, knowing the peace afflictions are accomplished in your brethren, which are in the world, but the God of every who have called us to his eternal Laura by Christ Jesus. After that you have suffered a while.
Make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
To Hindu glory and dominion.
Forever and ever. Amen.
Where is it going to end? Or it's the God of all grace? And if you end in the Father's house in law?
Province put it glorious in Old Brother, and I feel how imperfectly I've spoken of these things, but they're so precious.
So blessed, so important, we're living in crucial ways of the Church's history.
They'll not be reliable.
That will be in any sense worldwide.
Scripture says hold fast, Baptist self, hasten, no man, take thy crown. And I want to say this here I closed my top.
00:55:06
I'm not a young man. I look back over my life. I had a Christian father and mother that brought me up in the truth. I've read many books. I haven't done Shadow of Doubt. But what the truth as taught in the word of God.
Is herald and taught in our various assemblies.
And to be gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Where there were light and wisdom of the Word of God is honored in the assembly where you meet or perhaps break, break.
Is an exceedingly blessed privilege given to your God and you young people. The enemy would try and turn you aside and if you ever leave.
The proof where God has put his name, where Christ has put his name, and where the word of God is honored.
And its ministry is faithfully given. It's the most precious spot on earth. The most precious spot on earth.
And value it. And don't let anything ever happen in your life. It will cause you to turn aside.
Cold fast, clap with thou hast. Why does it say Hold back.
Mother gives a child something that is valuable because there's a danger of not doing so, and there's all of the danger among our young people of not holding fast the truth that you've learned from your parents.
May God give you grace and faithfulness.
To hold fast the truth and walk in it.
And walk in it in lowliness. Independence. And if you're tempted right now to give up.
Get on your knees before you get into bed and try to gobbler with grace and strength that is needed to walk in the truth until Jesus comes.
So we just pray together because our time is out.

DISCLAIMER: The following has been auto-transcribed. We hope it will help you to find the section of this audio file you are looking for.
Begin our meeting by singing him.
132.
The person of the Christ.
Unfolding every grace once slain, but now alive again.
In heaven demands our praise.
132 Will someone start it please?
Seek God's blessing.
There are three verses.
In scripture that.
I would refer to in our remarks this afternoon.
They have something in common these three verses.
They all speak.
About the ear or the ears?
Of our blessed Lord Jesus Christ.
Now the first one that we will read.
Speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Incarnate.
Son of God.
The second one speaks of him as the dependent.
Son of God here on this earth.
The third one.
Speaks of him as the serving Son of God.
On earth, in heaven, and in eternity to come.
Christ Incarnate.
Christ as the dependent 1.
Through Christ as the serving one.
So let us read the first one, and you will detect as you hear the verse read.
And it has something to do with the ears.
The air The 40th song.
00:05:10
And the sixth verse.
This is 1.
Of the 13 messianic songs.
By a messianic Psalm we mean a Psalm that speaks especially.
Of the person of the Christ.
This is one of them.
The Psalm is Christ, the burnt offering.
Our verse is the 6th.
Sacrifice.
And offering that it's not desire.
Mine ears hast thou opened.
My Bible has a margin.
Perhaps yours has two.
Let us read the margin there.
Mine ears hast thou?
Digged, burnt offering and sin offering, Hast thou not required?
Another translation, I believe reads thou hast digged.
Ears for me?
If we only had this verse here.
We might be a bit puzzled to know what the Spirit of God had before him.
In such a remark.
God has not left us in the dark.
He has been pleased in this case, as in many others.
To interpret the scripture for us.
So we'll turn to the 10th of Hebrews.
In Hebrews 10 The Spirit of God.
Takes up this verse.
In the party of Psalm.
And applies it to Christ. Let us read it.
Fourth verse of Hebrews 10.
It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats.
Should take away sins.
Wherefore, when he cometh into the world.
That's Christ.
He saith, Sacrifice, and offering, thou wouldst not?
But a body hast thou prepared me.
Now notice that's our sixth verse.
Of Psalm 40.
Definitely quoted.
In the 10th of Hebrews.
But see the meaning that is given to those expressions in the Psalm.
Sacrifice and offering, thou wouldst not but a body has thou prepared me?
That is, dear young folks, when the word speaks about digging ears for Christ.
It means that in order for him to be.
The Christ of God, the sent one of God.
He must needs take a body.
Thou hast digged ears for me.
In other words, is the truth of incarnation.
God becoming man.
The one who is here in lowly guides.
Was the God man.
Now that's the truth that is being questioned today.
We were warned from this platform yesterday.
Of the danger.
Of giving in to the determination.
To get rid of God's Christ.
The apostasy is just about upon us.
There's every sign about us that we're nearing the end.
And Satan is arranging and arraying all his forces and his powers.
To dethrone the Christ of God.
His main weapons are aimed at the person of God's Christ.
But here in our verse.
We learn that God in his time.
Gave that 1A body, he digged ears for him.
00:10:00
He made him capable down here as a dependent man, hearing the voice of his God and his father.
Why did he do it?
Because it was not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats.
Should take away sins.
If you're a young Christian here this afternoon.
The thing that's made you a Christian, that's made it possible for you to be a Christian.
Is the truth of this verse.
The blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin.
But you have been to God through Christ.
About the question of your sins.
And you have found that through the sacrifice of Christ.
The sin question was settled.
Oh, how important that verse is to you.
And remember if you give up the Christ of God.
Now I say the Christ of God.
The enemy is substituting Christ today.
He is retaining the old terminology.
He will have them use the language of Scripture, but without the content of Scripture.
Oh yes, he's clever.
Don't be misled by terminology. Be sure that the Christ that you have, the one you've received as your Savior, is the Christ of God, the one for whom God dig ears.
In the eighth of Romans.
Romans 8.
And the third verse.
Romans 8/3.
For what the law could not do.
In that it was weak through the flesh.
God sending his own son.
In the likeness of sinful flesh.
And for sin condemned sin in the flesh.
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in US who walk not after the flesh.
But after the spirit.
Now the blood of bulls and goats could not take away sins.
That is the reason God digged ears for Christ.
Because the other was a failure in taking away sin.
But in this scripture we have just read.
It isn't a matter of the blood of bulls and goats taking away sin.
The matter of trying to take away sin by the fulfilling of the law.
But what the law could not do.
In that it was weak through the flesh.
What good is it?
To tell people to keep the law.
If they have a heart, that is determined to break it.
You and I are made that way, naturally.
If you tell a child not to do a certain thing, that's the thing he wants to do.
Well grown up people are just children that have matured.
That same disposition is in them.
And if you were to tell a child not to look under a certain dish that you had left on the table.
And left him in that room an hour. You know that that is the chief thing that would fill his mind.
Was to get to look under that dish because you told him not to.
That's what we are.
We're born rebels. What can a law do for us?
Condemn us.
All young folks.
Don't imagine for a minute you're ever going to get to heaven.
By keeping the law.
By doing what's right.
No, that's the reason that God digged ears for Christ.
But the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh.
God sending his own son.
In the likeness of sinful flesh.
Now I want to put in a little word of warning here.
Many of you are young.
And we're living in a day of.
Dangerous wicked doctrines.
And it is very easy for the devil.
To let something get into.
00:15:01
Your mind.
That's going to corrupt your faith.
Notice what this verse says.
God sent his Son in the likeness, in the likeness of sinful flesh.
Now supposing I left out that one word.
Supposing I read this. God sent his own Son in sinful flesh. Supposing I were to read it that way and stand up here and say that's what God did, You know what had happened?
Some brother or brothers right here in this audience.
Would rise to his feet or their feet.
Say just a minute, Brother Brown.
I want to protest God did not send his Son in sinful flesh.
Not a bit of it.
There's no sin in him.
No, not one sinful thought ever crossed his mind.
He never uttered A sinful word.
He never did a simple thing.
Oh, think of it, God manifest in flesh.
In flesh.
But holy flesh.
That that shall be born of thee.
Is holy holy?
Then what does this mean in the likeness of sinful flesh?
Well, I take it, dear young folks, that it means that when our Lord Jesus came into the world.
He didn't have a Halo around his head.
He was a man.
He worked in a Carpenter shop up at Nazareth.
I presume that his hands were callous, the same as yours would be if you worked at that trade.
He was just a man here in this world.
But there was an infinite difference between him and any other man that ever lived.
He was the man without sin.
All others were from beneath. He was from above.
Young folks, Christianity's Christ.
But it is the Christ of God.
It is not the Christ that is being palmed off today in many quarters.
Oh yes, there's a great deal of talk about Christ today.
But oh is it the Christ of God?
Or is it a Christ, a man's imagination?
You remember when Moses was up on the mountain top.
Getting the law and the people who are down on the plane.
That they told Aaron it would be a good thing, since Moses was gone, if they had a God.
And he made them one.
A golden calf.
But when he proclaimed the feast.
He didn't say anything about the golden calf, he said. Tomorrow is a feast to Jehovah.
Oh yes, he had the old terminology.
But.
The Jehovah they were worshiping the next day.
Was that golden calf?
Oh, how subtle is the enemy of our souls?
Now look at Hebrews, the second chapter.
And the 16th verse.
Hebrews 216.
For verily he took not on him the nature of angels.
But he took on him seed of Abraham.
Yes.
As the promised one of God coming into this world.
He came of the seed of Abraham, the promised Seed.
He had the right lineage. He came with all the credentials.
He was the one that had been promised of God long, long before back in the days of Abraham.
He came of the seed of Abraham.
He fulfilled all the promises of God. Now one more scripture in the 4th of Galatians on this point.
Galatians 4.
00:20:01
And the fourth verse.
When the fullness of the time has come.
God sent forth his Son.
Made of a woman.
Yes, he was born of a woman, a virgin.
Made under the law.
To redeem them.
That were under the law.
That me we might receive the adoption of sons.
When the fullness of the time has come.
How long did it take it to arrive?
4000 years.
Yes, the first promise of the coming Redeemer was made 4000 years before he came.
Perhaps down through the ages, many a person said. Well, we used to believe that God was going to.
Send the Messiah.
In the old days, they used to believe that.
But you know, we've given it up long ago.
Well, we don't teach that anymore.
We believe that that was a mistaken idea.
Well, I'm sure that such was the case because the human race.
In place of waiting for the promise of God, indulged in all manner of extravagances in connection with the worshipping of a God of their own choosing.
They were unwilling to wait for the promised Messiah of God.
4000 years they waited.
But you know, God is God.
He has his own plans, if I may say it reverently.
His own blueprints.
And you and I are not to hasten his hand.
When the time comes, When the fullness of the time has come.
God sent forth his Son.
Young folks.
Don't let anybody put you to sleep.
About the Lord's coming.
Don't let them say well.
You know, they've been talking about that. I've heard that all my life.
My grandfather used to talk about it.
I doubt of as much to it.
Do you know that we're having some in high circles today?
Those that profess to be.
So-called fundamentalists, you know that some of them are making such rash remarks as.
Or it may be 500 or 1000 years before he gets back again.
It is becoming a matter more or less, of indifference.
But all remember.
When the fullness of the time has come, God sent him and dear young folks.
When the moment comes in the counsels of God.
To give the consent, The nod of consent to that beloved 1 sitting in his right hand.
There won't be one second of delay.
He'll step forth into the clouds of heaven and give the shout and oh, I would to God it took place while I'm here on this platform.
Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful?
To be caught up. To meet the Lord in the air. To be forever with the Lord.
As dear old Brother Blount used to say, the moment for which all other moments were made when Christ could have His Church.
But in order for that to take place.
He must needs have had ears digged for him. He must needs become a man.
But in virtue of his having become a man.
He can be your savior and mine.
Don't go away.
From these conference meetings.
Without having everything clear between your soul and God that Christ.
God's son.
Your own savior. Make sure of it.
God sent him.
He came and he's coming back.
And if he comes while I am speaking, will you be left sitting right there in that chair?
If you should be, I want to tell you faithfully, there is no salvation for you.
00:25:01
Your day has passed.
Now we've spoken about that verse in the party of Psalm.
But we said that we had some other versions that we wanted to talk about.
That have to do with Christ.
Having ears.
So let us look at a verse.
In the 50th chapter of Isaiah.
Isaiah 50.
Isaiah 50, verse 4.
The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned.
Or the instructed.
That I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.
He awakeneth morning by morning.
He awakeneth mine ears. Notice that word ear.
He awakeneth mine ear.
To hear as the learned or let's read it this way to hear as the instructed 1.
Morning by morning.
He openeth mine ears.
To hear as the instructed 1.
What does that mean?
It means that that dependent man about whom we were speaking a moment ago.
The man for whom God digged ears.
The man that came down here in humiliation.
In the likeness of sinful flesh.
That that man placed himself.
In a position.
Of dependence.
He learned obedience. He learned what it was to be here in this world with the will of his God and Father before him.
Every day of his life.
He learned what it was to get his instructions.
From heaven above and it says morning by morning.
He awakeneth mine ear to hear as the instructed 1.
Now you know in Peter.
We read that our Lord Jesus Christ.
Has left us an example.
That we should follow in his steps.
He who did no sin, he has left us an example that we should follow any steps.
Now here is the Lord Jesus down here on this earth.
What did he do every morning of his life?
He waited upon God.
To get the mind of God for that day, morning by morning.
He openeth my ear to hear as the instructed 1.
Young folks.
Do you do that, and you read your Bible in the morning and ask God's will for your.
For your day.
Are you in the position of taking instruction from God?
Are you dependent?
Or do you just get out of bed in the morning?
Clothe yourself, eat your breakfast and off to the day's work.
Never bow the knee or read one word of scripture.
Are you stronger than the blessed Son of God?
When he was here in this world, in the likeness of men, he waited upon God.
Morning by morning, do you do that?
You young married folks.
And you have the reading of God's Word in your home.
You gather the family together.
Are your children being brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord?
Are they?
Are your children being brought up?
In the nurture.
And admonition of the Lord.
Will they be able when they leave the precincts of your home?
Will they be able down through the years of their lives if left here?
00:30:03
To look back upon that sacred and solemn time.
In their life's history when they knelt with father and mother.
Now together.
While Father commanded them to the grace and guidance of God day by day.
Will that be one of the memories in the lives and hearts of your children?
All that so sacred heritage.
And you can pass it on to others.
The blessed Son of God when he was here in this world.
Waited upon God morning by morning.
In the 14th of Matthew.
And the 23rd verse.
And when he had sent the multitudes away.
It's a good thing to get away from the crowd once in a while.
Well, I like to see get togethers like this. I love to see young people get together for.
Their meetings, their young people's meetings. I love to see them together.
But it's a good thing.
To get alone once in a while, alone with God.
And when he sent the multitudes away.
He went up into a mountain apart.
To pray.
And when the even was come, he was there alone.
In prayer to his God, the dependent man.
He feels his need of getting off alone with God.
Are you neglecting that feature in your Christian life?
Are you neglecting prayer?
You know, that's where we make contact.
With the infinite power of God.
Is when we kneel in prayer.
See how this room is lighted? All these lights above us?
You know it wouldn't be so.
If the connection were broken.
Someone full of mischief.
Goes out and pulls the switch.
These lights would be out.
They have to be connected with the powerhouse.
If you and I are going to derive any benefit from the light.
And if you want power and victory in your spiritual life.
You will have to be sure that you get in touch with the infinite God.
There must be that personal contact.
If the contact is broken.
You won't have any power in your life.
You know what breaks the contact, don't you?
It is sin.
Oh yes, it's sin that breaks the contact.
Or may the Lord keep us. The blessed Son of God went into the mountain to pray, and Matthew tells us.
That he was there all night long in prayer.
When I in John's Gospel, you find him as a dependent man all through John.
So turn to the 4th chapter of John.
And the 34th verse.
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me.
And to finish his work, my meat, my will.
My food, my sustenance, is to do the will of him that sent me.
And to finish his work.
Now the next chapter and the 30th verse.
I can of mine own self do nothing.
As I hear, I judge and my judgment is just because.
I seek not mine own will.
But the will of the Father which has sent me.
Well, let's apply that test.
00:35:01
I am seeking by the grace of God.
To keep this address directly to the young people, those are the ones I have in my heart.
Notice what he says. I seek not mine own will.
Do you know one of the characteristics of youth?
I was young once too, you know.
But one of the outstanding characteristics of youth is.
That they want their own way.
Yes, that is one of the outstanding characteristics.
I want to do what I want to do when I want to do it.
Now that is essentially the language of the heart.
Now the young person.
Unless that will has been subdued by the truth of God.
Well, think of the Son of God from heaven, the one that built the sky.
Down here in this world.
Placing himself voluntarily in a position.
Where he says, I seek not mine own will.
But the will of the Father which has sent me, is that what you're seeking?
Are you seeking his will for your life?
Sometimes young people come to those of us who are older.
And they ask a little help along this line.
Well, there's only it's only in a measure that we can help them.
And how can we help them?
By casting them back up on the word of God.
It's by the word Man shall not live by bread only, but by.
Every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God does man live.
And if you want a path of happiness.
If you want the mind of God for your life.
Search the word, set aside your will.
I came not to do my will, but the will of the Father which has sent me.
And you'll get the answer.
God doesn't have a kind of.
A determinate mold.
In which he is going to force everyone of us so we all have to do exactly the same thing.
No, that isn't his manner of working. He never made two snowflakes alike, or two blades of grass alike, or two leaves alike.
We're all individuals. We have an individual responsibility and an individual destiny.
So you can't say, well, so and so does that and I'm going to do it.
No, You seek what God has for you.
I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father that sent me.
Now the 6th chapter of John.
And the 38th verse.
For I came down from heaven.
Not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. Isn't that beautiful? He came down from heaven.
Not to do his own will, but the will of him that sent him.
And then again in the 8th chapter.
And the 29th verse.
829.
And he that sent me is with me.
The Father hath not left me alone.
For I do always those things that please him.
Always. Always.
Young folks, do you like to have a vacation?
From your Christian life.
Do you like to lay aside?
What you profess in the meeting?
And live like a worldly.
And you seek some sort of a special dispensation that you can go out and have a fling.
In the world from time to time.
Well, if you do.
You certainly aren't following the example of this blessed One about whom we've just just read.
00:40:03
I do always those things that please him.
Do you say, Well, I know this doesn't please the Lord, I know I shouldn't do this, but then you've got to have a little relaxation once in a while.
Is that the language?
Of the new life that you have is born of God.
Is that the language of the indwelling Spirit of God?
Or is that the language?
Of that old unregenerate.
Rebellious man within you.
That never changes.
He never betters 1 little Whit. Never.
He remains always at enmity with God.
Oh, thank God. When we get through down here, we're going to leave him behind forever.
But as long as we're here.
Will be plagued.
Where that wretched thing that's inside of us.
Beloved, the Lord Jesus said, I do always those things that please him. Let's not seek to step aside from that path.
Now we've been talking about him as the dependent 1.
The one whose ears were opened morning by morning, to hear as the instructed 1.
Now let's talk about something else in his life.
Let S talk about his.
Dedication.
To then present service.
His dedication to ServiceNow.
And his dedication to service in the coming eternity.
Let's talk about that. And to do it, let's go to the 21St chapter of Exodus.
Second verse.
Exodus 21 two.
If thou buy and Hebrew servant 6 years, he shall serve.
And in the seventh he should go out free for nothing.
If he came in by himself.
He shall go out by himself.
If he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
If his master have given him a wife, and she had borne him sons or daughters.
The wife and her children shall be her masters.
And he should go out by himself.
And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master.
My wife and my children, I will not go out free.
Then his master shall bring him unto the judges.
He shall also bring him to the door.
Or unto the door post.
And his master shall bore his ear. Notice that word ear.
His master shall bore his ear through.
With and all.
And he shall serve him forever.
Now when our Lord Jesus Christ was here in this world.
He lived a perfect life of service.
He could have gone back to heaven any moment he chose.
Without any apologies.
He could have just have said farewell to this scene and the gates of heaven would have given him.
A glad acclaim.
If he if he desired to come back at anytime, he had the right to go.
In his own personal dignity.
His God's Son.
But he told us in the 12Th of John.
That except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and died it abideth alone.
But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
So he didn't choose to go back home alone.
He didn't choose to be freed.
From all the persecution and abuse.
And misunderstanding and tragedies of this life.
00:45:03
He didn't choose to go back alone.
Oh no, he said. I'm going to have mine ear bored through with a gnaw.
I am going to dedicate myself to consecrate myself.
To service to God and to His children forever.
Nothing's going to stop me. I will not go out free. I am going to take my children with me.
I'm going to have my bride and the glory above.
And in order that it might be sold?
He had his ear borne through with an awe.
Now I'm speaking typically, of course.
But I haven't the slightest doubt that that is the teaching of the Spirit of God in that 21St chapter of Exodus.
We are taught by types and shadows.
And all scriptures, God breathed.
And we're great losers if we do not find Christ in all the scriptures. That's what he told his own.
In the 24th of Luke.
Beginning at Moses and in all the Scriptures.
He told them that things concerning himself.
And dear young folks, this is one of the things concerning himself.
He's had his ear bored through and fastened to the doorpost.
He said. I'm going to stay by you forever.
Well, if we look now at the 22nd of Luke.
27th verse.
Luke 22.
27.
For whether it is greater he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth?
Is not he that sitteth at?
But I am among you.
As he that servant.
Now that simple, isn't it?
Where there's greater he that sitteth that meet or he that serveth.
Is not he that sitteth at meat, but I am among you as he that serveth.
All through his life here.
He didn't come to be waited on.
He came to serve.
And wherever he went, they thronged him, that they might receive his help and encouragement and healing.
Oh, how wonderful was his life.
Some we used to sing a hymn.
I should like to have been with him then.
Well, so we would, but then we've got something better ahead of us. We're going to be with him then.
But how wonderful it was.
Serving, serving, serving.
If they were hungry, he fed them. If they were sick, he healed them.
If they had those that were dead.
Raised them to life.
If they had those that were possessed of demons, he cast out the demons and set them free.
Oh, how wonderful.
Was his life and testimony here in this scene.
Thus serving one.
A servant of servants, was he?
I am among you as he that serveth.
Now look at Hebrews 4.
And the 15th verse.
We have not.
And High Priest, which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.
But was in all points tempted as we are that were tempted means tried.
As we are apart from sin, let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.
That we may obtain mercy and find help in time of need.
All through his life.
Our Lord served.
But beloved.
He didn't lay aside his servant garments when he went to heaven.
Oh no, his lines are still girded.
00:50:03
Let us therefore come boldly under the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy.
And find grace to help in time of need.
Remember, he doesn't keep office hours.
Remember, it only takes just one cry to get his attention. Oh, when you need him.
And you're going to need him more as the years roll by.
You're going to be tried.
You're going to find many difficulties in the way you're going to be misunderstood.
Perhaps abused. You might even be martyred. But remember.
There's one up there on your side.
And he's ever attended and he never gets weary.
Oh, let's come boldly. Do you ever go boldly under the throne of Grace that you might obtain help?
In time of need.
He is there to help you. He is on your side, young folks. He's there to help you.
In time of need. Oh, how wonderful.
To have a helper in the glory.
On our side.
Now let us look at one John second chapter.
First verse.
My children.
These things write I unto you.
That you sin not.
And if any man's sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
And He is the propitiation for our sins, not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
The standard of the Christian life is not to sin.
It isn't a 98% standard or 98 and 74 hundredths standard.
It's that you sin not.
That's the standard. God never lowers his standard.
But if.
Any man sin what we have an advocate with the Father.
Doesn't say if we sin and repent we have an advocate. It says if we sin we have an advocate.
Young folks.
If you belong to Christ.
He is keeping a close touch.
On your life and your record.
And He knows when you sin, He does.
And he's not going to ignore it.
If any man's sin, we have a Christ that's against us. No, no.
We have a Christ that's for us. We have an advocate, a representative, one that's on our side, up there in the glory.
What's he going to do about it?
Is going to bring us to repentance and self judgment.
And if we confess our sins, He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins.
And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Oh, it's a sorry thing when we sin against such love, isn't it?
He is there for us, but are we going to take advantage of that love?
Oh, he's not mocked.
He's not mocked whatsoever. Man soweth that will they also reap.
He is there on our side.
But the way that he shows, he's on our side.
Is the lattice that times reap.
The fruits in our own lives of our naughtiness and rebellion. But remember, dear young folks.
He's always for you.
He's on your side.
And the thing that shows that he's on your side, maybe that he takes the rod.
And lays it on you with a firm hand because you need it.
Now I am saying you, but I am talking to this man too.
I know by experience, if any man's sin, we have an advocate with the Father.
Jesus Christ, the righteous.
Now one more scripture in the 12Th of Luke and then we're done.
Luke 1237.
Blessed are those servants whom the Lord, when he cometh, shall find watching.
00:55:06
Verily I say unto you.
That he shall gird himself.
And make them sit down to meet.
And come forth and serve.
I think that's one of the sweetest scriptures that I know of. Think of the blessed Son of God.
When he gets you and me home in the glory.
He is going to seat us at his own table.
And he is going to gird himself.
And come forth and serve us.
Oh, he had his ear borne through with a gnaw.
He is a servant forever.
And all through the years of eternity, if you can talk about years.
All through eternal ages.
He is going to be their servants. Oh, what a Lord we have.
His ears digged that he might become a man.
His ears opened morning by morning, that he might be the dependent obedient 1.
And then?
But but now but last, all his ear bored through that he might be a servant forever.
134.
Lord of glory.
We adore thee.
Christ of God ascended high.
Heart and soul we bow before thee.
Glorious now beyond the sky.
Thee we worship, Thee we praise.
Excellent in all I wait anointed king with glory crowned.
Rightful air and Lord of all.
Once rejected, scorned, disowned.
Een by those thou camest to call.
We honor the adore glorious now and evermore.
Lord of life to death, one subject bless her, yet a curse once made.
Of the father's heart, the object yet in depths of anguish leave.
Thee we gaze on, thee recall.
Bearing here our sorrows all sing the last stanza someone started please.
Will everyone please keep their seats?
For a minute or two, our brother Raymond Macy.
A professional photographer.
Is going to try to see if he can take a picture in this room.
The announcements are simply this, that the next meeting is at 3:30 a reading.
During the reading, there will be.
The meeting for the children out on the lawn.
Also those mothers who have little ones that they can.
