They … embrace the ROCK for want of a shelter. (Job 24:8)

Ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the ROCK. (Deut. 32:3‑4)

Who is God, save the Lord? and who is a ROCK, save our God? (2 Sam. 22:32)

That ROCK was Christ. (1 Cor. 10:4)

Here we have a firm foundation;    Here’s the refuge of the lost; Christ’s the ROCK of our salvation —    His the name of which we boast; Lamb of God! For sinners wounded —    Sacrifice to cancel guilt; None shall ever be confounded    Who on Thee their hope have built.

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: for he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Heb. 11:9‑10)

They desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city. (Heb. 11:16)

Not built with hands is that fair, radiant city    Of God’s untroubled rest — Where Christ awaits to lay His weary-       hearted    In stillness on His breast; Not built on sands of time or place to perish,    When tempests roar — But on the mighty rock of ages founded,    It stands forevermore.

As for God, His way is perfect!    May I never doubt it, Lord — May I lean in sweet assurance    On Thy precious, holy Word.

As for God, His way is perfect!    Someday I shall clearly see All His purposes unfolded,    And rejoice eternally.

Given the riches eternal,    Treasures of mind and of heart; Learning the mind of the Savior,    Choosing the better part.

There is so much He can tell us —    Truths that are precious and deep; This is the place where He wants us;    These are the things we can keep.
