What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36‑37)

Had I wealth and love in fullest measure, With a name renowned both far and near, Yet no hope beyond, no harbor waiting, Where my storm-tossed vessel I could    steer.

If I gained the world, but lost the    Savior, Who endured the cross and died for me, Could then all the world afford a refuge Whither in my anguish I might flee?

They had on their heads CROWNS of gold. (Rev. 4:4)

Cast their CROWNS before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. (Rev. 4:10‑11)

The cross on which our Lord expired    Has won the CROWN for us! In thankful fellowship with Him    We bear our daily cross.

So many burdened lives along the way! My load seems lighter than the most I see, And oft I wonder if I could be brave, Patient and sweet if they were laid on me.

And though the future brings some    heavier cross, I need not cloud the present with my    fears; I know the grace that is enough today Will be sufficient still through all the    years.
