THEY stripped Him, and put on Him a scarlet robe. (Matt. 27:28)

When THEY had platted a crown of thorns, THEY put it upon His head. (Matt. 27:29)

THEY bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! (Matt. 27:29)

THEY spit upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head. (Matt. 27:30)

THEY gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall. (Matt. 27:34)

THEY crucified Him. (Matt. 27:35)

Sitting down THEY watched Him there. (Matt. 27:36)

The Son of Man who was crucified Is the King of glory now.

In all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succor them that are tempted. (Heb. 2:17‑18)

He knoweth, and He has compassion;    He’s touched with our feeling of pain; He knows and is ready to succor,    Because He has suffered the same.

’Tis comforting e’er to remember,    Our high priest, the Lord over all, Is touched by our feeling of weakness    And hastens to answer our call.

Ye MUST be born again. (John 3:7)

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so MUST the Son of Man be lifted up. (John 3:14)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we MUST be saved. (Acts 4:12)

The serpent “lifted up”    Could life and healing give; So Jesus on the cross    MUST die that we might live: For whosoever will believe Shall everlasting life receive.

Thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not Thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? (Psa. 56:13)

Unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 24‑25)

It passes praises! That dear love of Thine, My Jesus! Saviour! Yet this heart of mine Would sing a love so rich—so full—so free, Which brought a rebel sinner such as me       Nigh unto God.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. (2 Tim. 2:21)

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor. (1 Thess. 4:4)

God hath … called us … unto holiness. (1 Thess. 4:7)

Oh to be but emptier, lowlier,    Mean, unnoticed, and unknown, And to God a vessel holier,    Filled with Christ, and Christ alone! Naught of earth to cloud the glory,    Naught of self the light to dim, Telling forth His wondrous story,    Emptied—to be filled with Him!

I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving-kindnesses. For He said, Surely they are My people, children that will not lie: so He was their Saviour. (Isa. 63:7‑8)

This people have I formed for Myself; they shall show forth My praise. (Isa. 43:21)

For the fathers’ sakes beloved,    Israel, in Thy grace restored, Shall on earth, the curse removed,    Be the people of the Lord.

These, redeemed from every nation,    Shall in triumph bless Thy name; Every voice shall cry, “Salvation    To our God and to the Lamb.”

Then said He, Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: but this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins, forever sat down on the right hand of God. (Heb. 10:9‑12)

Not all the blood of beasts,    On Jewish alters slain, Could give the guilty conscience peace    Or wash away its stain.

But Christ, the heavenly Lamb,    Took all our guilt away, A sacrifice of nobler name    And richer blood than they.

Affliction is but for a moment,    But after its purpose is wrought, The blessing will go on forever,    The fruit that the trial has brought.

Yes, gladness can come through affliction,    And joy out of sorrow is born; The night may be heavy with weeping,    But happiness comes in the morn.
