What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. (Phil. 3:7‑9)
For this, oh may we freely count
   Whate’er we have but loss;
The dearest object of our love,
   Compared with Thee, but dross.
Engrave this deeply on our hearts
   With an eternal pen,
That we may, in some small degree,
   Return Thy love again.

God … hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee. And as concerning that He raised Him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, He said on this wise, I will give You the sure mercies of David. Wherefore He saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. (Acts 13:33‑35)
Saviour, though the world despised Thee,
   Though Thou here wast crucified,
Yet the Father’s glory raised Thee,
   Lord of all creation wide.

If Thou canst do anything, have COMPASSION on us, and help us. (Mark 9:22)
When the Lord saw her, He had COMPASSION on her, and said unto her, Weep not. (Luke 7:13)
If Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with COMPASSION, put forth His hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. (Mark 1:40‑41)
Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had COMPASSION on thee. (Mark 5:19)

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. (Psa. 103:3)
Jesus only can impart
Peace of conscience, joy of heart;
Jesus only can proclaim
Pardon through His blessed name.
Jesus only—sweetest plea,
When the soul its state can see;
When its misery it can feel,
Jesus only then can heal.

What though the accuser roar
   Of ills that I have done!
I know them well, and thousands more:
   Jehovah findeth none.
There, in His book, I bear
   More than a conqueror’s name,
Of soldier, son and fellow-heir,
   Who fought and overcame.

The Lord did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: but because the Lord loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God. (Deut. 7:7‑9)
Fixed on this ground must we remain,
   Though heart may fail and flesh decay;
This anchor shall our souls sustain,
   When earth and heaven shall pass away;
Mercy’s full worth we then shall prove,
Loved with an everlasting love.

Then teach Thy gathered saints, O Lord,
   To worship in Thy fear;
And let Thy grace mold every word
   That meets Thy holy ear.
Thy precious name is all we show,
   Our only passport, Lord;
And full assurance now we know,
   Confiding in Thy Word.
