(round mass). A prominent feature in Oriental imagery (Prov. 16:15¹⁵In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain. (Proverbs 16:15); Isa. 25:5⁵Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. (Isaiah 25:5); Job 30:15¹⁵Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud. (Job 30:15)). A token of Divine presence and protection (Ex. 16:10¹⁰And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.
