Was Moses concerned that if God did not go with them, they would not be provided for? I think, rather, that he so valued communion with the Lord that he feared to lose it. He knew that wherever the Lord was, there was joy and peace - and yes, provisions also. Let us likewise treasure communion with the Lord. Hardship or suffering or danger may be a joy if it is accompanied by a sense of the Lord’s presence. A mansion with all the luxuries of the world will be miserable without Him.
