[Pharaoh’s daughter] saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him.
This word compassion means “to pity or to have pity on” someone. But God goes farther than this in Lamentations 3:2222It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. (Lamentations 3:22) where we are told that “His compassions fail not.” This word compassion also means to “touch or lovingly caress.” So we see that true compassion always leads to action. If you claim to have compassion for your fellow human beings but you never reach out as a Christian to touch their lives and help them, then you do not truly have compassion.
