Sin Is Costly!
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7.
Yes, sin has a high price tag. When Adam ate of the forbidden fruit in disobedience, he sinned; and the Bible tells of the sad result. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin." Romans 5:12. Also: "The wages of sin is death. " Romans 6:23. Death is the ultimate price of sin! The cost of sin for the unbeliever and Christ-rejecter will be to be cast into the " lake of fire" for all eternity. So awful will this be that it is called "the second death." Revelation 20:14. It will be eternal separation from God! And eternal torment tool But sin also has a cost when it is allowed in a Christian's life. Here is just a sample list of some of the costs of dabbling in sin and the world:
*. Loss of communion.
*. Restlessness of soul.
*. No enjoyment of the "peace of God."
*. Loss of the "joy of the Lord."
*. Sorrow.
*. Bitterness.
*. Loss of a sense of the Lord's presence.
*. Heartache.
..and this is just to name a few!
No, it is not worth the price! Not worth the cost! Listen to the exhortation and warning of Scripture: "...sin when it is finished, bringeth forth death." lames 1:15
Perhaps you have been a wayward Christian. Repent and return. The pleasures of sin are only for a season (Hebrews 11:25), and they do not satisfy. When Jonah chose his own way he fled "from the presence of the Lord." And we also read, "he paid the fare thereof." Jonah 1:3. He learned, however, that it was not worth the cost..."the fare."
King David sinned and there were consequences, but He could thankfully affirm: "He restoreth my soul." Psalm 23:3
Christian, are you willful, wayward?
Do you chose the paths of sin?
Do you clamor for its pleasures?
Do you hanker for its din?
There are costs and consequences!
Do not live for self, my friend!
Live for Jesus, and His glory,
On His love and grace depend.
