Covetousness

He that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
We have spoken many times in these pages on the dangers of covetousness - of wanting something that you can’t afford or because someone else has it. Another reason we covet and go beyond our means sometimes (especially in buying cars, guys) is that the other kids at school will think we are really cool if we have a particular car. We will suddenly become popular and have lots of “friends.” Remember the prodigal son in Luke 15? He had lots of friends too, and held many wild parties - until his money was gone. And then so were they. Beware of coveting something or someone just because you’ll become popular.
