Cruse

(pot). A bottle, flask, or jug for holding liquids (1 Sam. 26:11¹¹The Lord forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the Lord's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go. (1 Samuel 26:11); 1 Kings 17:12; 19:6¹²And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. (1 Kings 17:12)
⁶And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. (1 Kings 19:6)).

Tselochith, here translated “cruse,” is rendered “dish” in 2 Kings 21:13¹³And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down. (2 Kings 21:13), “pan,” in 2 Chronicles 35:13¹³And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people. (2 Chronicles 35:13), and “bosom” in Proverbs 19:24; 26:15²⁴A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. (Proverbs 19:24)
¹⁵The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. (Proverbs 26:15). It is supposed to have been a flat metal dish.
