This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.1
Thou shalt be called Hephzibah, … for the Lord delighteth in thee, … and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.2 – He hath sent me … to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.3
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, … as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.4
I will betroth thee unto me forever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in loving-kindness, and in mercies.5
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?6

He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; … the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. … For the transgression of my people was he stricken. … It pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief.1
Jesus our Lord … was delivered for our offences.2 – Christ … hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.3 – Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.4
He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.5
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.6

The Lord your God … went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.1 – As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him.2 – The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.3 – Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.4 – For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.5 – We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.6 – With us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles.7
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy.8

We were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.1 – Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.2 – Strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.3
Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.4 – God is my strength and power: … he teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.5 – Our sufficiency is of God.6
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.7 – Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.8
The time would fail me to tell of [those] who through faith subdued kingdoms, … out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.9

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God.1 – Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.2 – Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm.3
Christ … suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.4

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.1 – Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.2
Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.3 – Aaron held his peace.4 – It is the Lord: let him do what seemeth him good.5
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.6 – Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.7
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.8

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.1 – Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.2
We walk by faith, not by sight.3 – We faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.4 – An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.5

Thou shalt have treasure in heaven: … come and follow me.1 – I am … thy exceeding great reward.2
Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.3 – They shall reign forever and ever.4
Ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.5 – The crown of life.6 – A crown of righteousness.7 – An incorruptible. [crown]8
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me.9 – So shall we ever be with the Lord.10
I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.11

Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.1
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.2 – Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.3
If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.4

There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest. There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.1
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: … they … rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.2
Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; … Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.3
We that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened.4 – Ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: … But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.5
