My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.1 – And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.2
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.3 – Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.4 – I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.5
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.6

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth.1 – The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.2
Christ … loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.3
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. … Thy word hath quickened me. … Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. … I will not forget thy word. … I trust in thy word. … The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. … I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. … How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.4

Let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ.1 – Abstain from all appearance of evil.2 – If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye. … But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.3 – Be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.4 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.5
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart; so shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.6 – Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.7

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.1
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.2 – He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.3 – Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.4
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.5 – Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. … Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?6 – Be not faithless, but believing.7 – Lo, I am with you alway.8

Forasmuch … as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same.1
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.2
We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.3 – In Christ Jesus ye who sometime were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace.4 – By his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. … And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.5 – He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.6

Without faith it is impossible to please him.1 – So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.2 – The Lord taketh pleasure in his people.3
This is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. … If, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.4 – The ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, … is in the sight of God of great price.5
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.6 – I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.7
I beseech you … brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.8

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.1 – The brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person.2 – The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.3
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake. Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee.4 – Lord, by thy favor thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.5 – Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.6
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.7
Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.8

A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.1 – We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.2 – It became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.3 – Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.4
I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.5
Behold how he loved.6 – He took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. … In all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.7

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.1 – Thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield.2
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. … The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.3 – I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.4
Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me. … While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept.5
The Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.6

Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.1 – If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.2
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.3
Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.4 – I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey.5 – The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.6
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.7 – Every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.8 – Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.9
