By the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all. – Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, … made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. … Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.
They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. – The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. – I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible. – He that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. – The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations.

We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.
I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. – I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him. – To her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord … that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.

We walk by faith, not by sight. – We love him, because he first loved us. – And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. – In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. – God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. – Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. – Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
He is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? … It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Fight the good fight of faith. – The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, … and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. – I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. – We are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
We have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. … It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. – Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. – Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness.
Every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. – Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. – Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord.

Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me. – It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to show forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord.
I beseech you, … brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. – Jesus, … that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. … By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. … Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. – The ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. – God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. – The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
Jesus … knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. – Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee.
