I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.1 – Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.2
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.3
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.4 – Having … boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.5
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord.6 – All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.7

My beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.1 – He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.2 – If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.3 – By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.4 – Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.5
Christ … suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.6 – Consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.7
In their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.8

I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.1 – Whosoever … will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.2 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.3
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. … The servant is not greater than his lord.4 – I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.5

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.1 – Thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.2
I am a sinful man, O Lord.3 – Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair.4
I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.5 – Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.6
When I would do good, evil is present with me.7 – Be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.8
I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.9 – Ye are complete in him.10 – Perfect in Christ Jesus.11
Ye are washed, … ye are sanctified, … ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.12 – That ye should show forth the praises of him who hath calleth you out of darkness into his marvellous light.13

He brought me up … out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.1 – The Son of God, … loved me, and gave himself for me.2 – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?3 – God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.4
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.5 – Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.6
God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.7

Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.1 – I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.2 – With the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.3
Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause.4 – My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.5
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.6

I beseech thee, show me thy glory. … And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.1 – No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.2
Every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.3 – I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh.4
I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.5 – I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.6 – We shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.7 – The Lord himself shall descend from heaven … the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.8

When we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.1 – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?2
In him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.3
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.4 – To will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.5 – Unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.6
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.7 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.8

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them.1 – He whom thou lovest is sick.2 – My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.3 – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.4
We faint not; … though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.5
In him we live, and move, and have our being.6 – He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.7 – The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.8

We … rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also.1 – I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.2 – Believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.3
In a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.4 – Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.5
Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?6 – God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.7
