The Christian is dead to sin. He does not have to practice sin. He has a new nature that cannot sin. He has the sinning nature also, but if he will be subject to the Word of God in the new nature, God will provide His power daily to live for Jesus, serving Him rather than sin. The following outline may help you understand Romans 6. Verse 6: my head - I know I am dead to sin - my position in Christ. Verse 11: my heart - I consider myself dead to sin - my purpose for Christ. Verse 13: my hands - I live like I’m dead to sin - my practice with Christ. Remember, it’s I know, I consider, I live.
