Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the ghost.
Jesus is God. He did things that no other could do, because He was God. One of those things was that He gave up His spirit. It was necessary that He become a man that He might die, but man could not take His life from Him, although they are responsible for nailing Him to the cross. The Lord said, “I have power to lay it [My life] down, and I have power to take it again.” Yes, Jesus certainly did die. He died a cruel death. And it was so that we would not have to be banished from His presence forever. Jesus died for our sins, according to the Scripture.
