Defying God.

MOST people know how that Kansas is liable to exceeding long droughts, and on one of these occasions there came up day after day clouds and every token of a rain, and still no rain. The clouds passed away, and the sun would come out hotter and brighter than ever, it seemed to those who were watching and waiting for the rain to cool the parched earth and crops. A farmer whose crop of corn was suffering greatly stood one day watching the receding clouds until the sky was clear and bright with the exception of one little white cloud, and standing with another man, he shook his fist violently at it and said: “We’ll raise corn in Kansas whether the Lord God is willing or not to send rain.” Immediately from the little white cloud descended a lightning bolt, and in an instant that man lay dead in the field. It is not safe to call upon the Infinite One in a spirit of anger, or dare the Creator of the universe, for, perchance, He will take you at your word. “The fool hath said in his heart there is no God,” and no one but a fool would dare to say such a thing. “God is not mocked.” (Gal. 6:77Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7).)
